I'm going to try and make a pecan pie and a peach cream pie. Then I am going to mash up an acorn squash I have at home and haven't figured out how to cook yet.
I've never made it myself but I was tasked with making the sweet potato casserole for DH's family. Since they insist I must use canned yams and mini-marshmellows it's hardly a challenge.

I'm experimenting with brining the turkey and also making some cranberry sauce (I can't deal with the can-shaped glob for another year!) My sister is in charge of the menu so I haven't been getting too creative... don't want to upset whatever theme she's going for

Half my menu! A portobello soup, a Caesar salad with dressing from scratch, a fresh pasta dish, my own way of roasting carrots, and creme brule! We'll either be feasting like kings or eating frozen meals if the recipes do me wrong.

My box of Stove Top stuffing is cranberry. Does that count? ;D
We do a gluten-free stuffing for DH and he gets the inside of the bird this year. It's a traditional stuffing recipe but we substitute gluten free bread (this year will be the caraway bread I made a couple of days ago) and organic broth and veggies. Last year's turned out pretty good, although it had a different bread.

My SIL sent me a recipe for Pumpkin Tiramisu. Sound great and I can't wait to make it and try it.

My MIL does homemade cranberry sauce. A few years ago we hosted all of them. My MIL was warned about the canned cranberry sauce and offered to bring hers (I think she thinks it's a crime against nature.) I didn't care so I said fine. She was surprised that it got sampled but not devoured.

DD is making cranberry sauce. But DS and I still like the jellied stuff. Served straight out of the can, can shaped rings and all!

For all I know, my grandpa just keeps the same one in the freezer and pulls it out every November. So hopefully mine will go over a little better. If not, I'll eat it all myself. ;D

I told my mother that I would make Brussel Sprouts, but I'm not allowed to use the oven, and I don't really want to use the stove top. I am going to try (gasp!) a crock pot recipe, and I'm also going to try a cold brussel sprout and apple salad recipe I saw. I'm going to make a small batch of both of them tonight, and then decide which to bring on Thursday. My mother decides everyone hates her cole slaw so she isn't going to make it. I **love** her cole slaw and every time she makes it we all sit around and talk about how cole slaw will never be the same after she dies. So, I'm thinking she is sick of us talking about her death, so, no cole slaw for me.

And what are you making in the crock pot?

I think Mom and I are the only ones who eat it at her house. DH isn't a fan so he doesn't care if I corrupt the kids or not. Speaking of, I need to buy a butter turkey today. Because some traditions MUST be maintained at all costs.
Backstory is that every year at Easter, for the 35+ years I can remember, my Mom's had a butter lamb. When I was about 9, my younger sister, then 4-5, asked one Thanksgiving "Where is the butter turkey?" in all seriousness. We just about died of laughter. And it got repeated for a few years by her, forgetting the answer from the year before. So when we started seeing butter turkeys here, about 5-10 years ago, we made a point of buying them and making sure she and Mom knew they existed. Which set everyone off into another fit of laughter. It's a good memory for all of us.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie!! I was looking through my recipes trying to find something that wouldn't completely jack my blood-sugar up for a month and surprisingly the chocolate Peanut Butter Pie recipe did the trick at just under 2 carbs per serving. INstead of the 3-4 carbs per serving that a lot of the other deserts were. Of course now my MIL is bringing 2 Pumpkin pies. So, we'll have 3 pies for 6 people (including one toddler).

butter lamb, as in lamb-shaped butter blob? interesting.... Yep. Usually made with whipped butter. One of our more upscale grocery stores carries them in more of a reg. butter molded into the turkey/lamb shape.

I have seen the turkeys at one of my grocery stores. I should get one. Dad always gripes that grandma's fridge lacks real butter.
