I hate hate hate cheerleading! I hope you got that part... So to make a short story long... ...I used to love it when she was 5 to 10.Then all the boobs went up and all the legs became size of mine and thighs got stretch marks and all of them are jumping up with idiotic smiles on their grown up faces... ...where was I going with that??? Oh! My store has a sign made by moa...it says "ABSOLUTELY NO SOLICITING" and regardless woman and 2 girls walked in and older girl wearing cheerleader's uniform. They want to make it to the finals so I have to donate $25!!! I said 'what happened to a $1? Can I donate $1?' and they said ofcourse but this amount will not cover my business name on their T-Shirt...and I said NO! WAY! I am donating!!! There are more worthy causes I am donating for!!!!!!!!!! They left not immediately and I went and checked and my sign "ABSOLUTELY NO SOLICITING" was still there!!!!!!!!!

Then don't give them any money, and respectfully tell them you do not donate to people who walk in off the street.

Wait, did you just say you liked cheerleading up until they all got boobs, long legs, and started looking like grown ups??? I'm confused.

Then don't give them any money, and respectfully tell them you do not donate to people who walk in off the street. Why respectfully??? So they can feel good about themselves for walking into the stores with big handmade signs that clearly stated they aren't welcome here? I have feelings to! I hate to tell NO to children when they asking for money. I felt like a cheap moron. I didn't feel good. Why was I supposed to make them feel good?

Certainly.
Ok, so you love it when little kids do it.
Then they grew boobs and long legs, and you don't like it anymore.
So, you like watching little girls in short skirts do dance routines, but once they get boobs you don't like it anymore.
That's what I said before.
And I'm still confused.

Because if you don't, they will grow up to be delinquents who will come back to your store and rob you blind. So there.

So they don't go tell dozens of your customers that you're cheap, and treat kids trying to raise money like shit. People tend not to like that sort of thing.
See, you have this thing called a business. That business exists to sell stuff to people. We call them customers. When you sell lots of stuff you make money. We call that profit. Those customers can get the stuff your business sells at other businesses. We call that competition. So, in order to get customers to buy from you instead of the competition, we try to project an image that people like. We call that marketing. If you undermine that marketing by being an ass while interacting with potential customers, they go shop at the competition, your sales go down, and you make no profit.
This concludes Business 101 for today. Any questions?

My business gives lots of money to community charities.
People remember it when they need a lawyer.
We gave $300 to Pee Wee Football for new equipment donation. We've made it back three times over, minimum.

When I choose to do business with an establishment, I actually check this. I did a 5K race last week, and asked the organizers who donated the food. I'd patronize these places because they donate.
I buy running/cycling gear at a small local shop because the owner supports charities, not because her stuff is the cheapest.
I chose a surgeon based on his pro bono experience (he did a lot of it in third world countries, which said a lot about his ability to work under less-than-ideal circumstances).

Tloony - Honesty, do you really run a business for REAL? Sometimes i wonder? You seem to have a lot of disdain for your customers and everyone else who dares to set foot in your store. Most of our local business support lots of teams from little league, soccer, basketball, and on and on. Yes, a business can't support everyone, but for the price of some tshirts and donations, you would be creating good will for your business, getting your name out there to advertise and so forth. And, don't underestimate a scorned MOM! SHe is probably gonna bad mouth your store from here to SUnday. SOrry, that doesn't seem to be very good business or people skills.

You should pelt them with rotten fruit. That'll give them something to "cheer" about.

She cannot do that, Bob...she needs that rotten stuff, so she can sell it at half-price. Oh, and hi there. Long time no see, stranger.

What is there not to love. This, apparently is a sport...the Olympics can't be far behind and think of the lucrative endorsement deals.

People ignore signs how shocking. I don't get why you didn't just talk to them nicely and try to keep some goodwill. Just something simple like my business isn't profitable enough at this time for me to donate to organizations or charities which is why I put up that sign (and point to it). Close with something like I hope you raise the money you need and perhaps some year in the future I'll be profitable enough to help out.

Bums? I dunno for sure...
I have a question though...WHY can't these kids DO something as a fundraising? Why can't they WORK for the money? My DD had car wash and some sales at some fairs... What ta heck does it mean you are coming to the stranger's store to extract money on a basis of being cute...for the reason that 'we want to go to the finals'? So how is that MY responsibility and how does this helping community - being a cheerleader? What does it teach those girls?

Hold up a sign stating that you don't speak English. If they point to their money take some and then say thank you in your native tongue.

So how is that MY responsibility and how does this helping community - being a cheerleader? What does it teach those girls? Please feel free to say no if you so choose, but please do so nicely. Our cheerleaders do plenty of car washes, candle sales, face painting, nails, running clinics etc. It still doesn't cover the costs of sending a team to nationals. As a parent, I donate a fair amount of time and money. So sometimes businesses are asked for money. We publicly recognize the ones who support the program. And we support those businesses in return. I'm guessing that DD shouldn't be asking you for money when her team wins at states this weekend.
