BusyBee: I update by going to my last update post and clicking modify. I then copy my table with all the td/tr info. Next, I go back to this page to post and paste the copied table. Then I just change the numbers. You could also copy your table coding to a word document and just change your numbers, then copy & paste. Hope this might help a little.

UpdateSo this is a much more cheerful update than my last one! DH got a nice check and it has allowed us to play catch-up with some of our accounts! We also got our fifth rose for this month's insurance. Hurray! The Million Dollar Job fund was emptied because DH actually sold a $1 million+ job! Million dollar jobs are pretty rare for him and he didn't feel like he was celebrating them enough so he asked me to start that fund awhile back. There was $200 in there at the time of the booking. He pulled it out and used it to attend a football game at his alma mater with a couple of his college buddies. Now we continue to put $25 a month in there until he gets another one. Fund | 2011 Goal | Beginning Amount | Current Amount | % Met | Date Completed | Car Insurance - May '11 | $738.00 | $549.18 | $738.00 | 100% | May | Car Insurance - Nov | $743.00 | $0.00 | $743.00 | 100% | November | Car Insurance - May '12 | $123.83 | $0.00 | $0.00 | 0% | | Christmas | $2,400 | $800.00 | $2,200.00 | 92% | | Vacation '11 | $2,400 | $1,800.00 | $2,400.00 | 100% | July | Vacation '12 | $1,000 | $0.00 | $400.00 | 40% | | Disneyland | $1,667.32 | $67.32 | $1,467.32 | 88% | | New Window | $400 | $0.00 | $400.00 | 100% | August | New Toilet and surround | $400 | $0.00 | $300.00 | 75% | | Dealer Meeting '12 | $1,100 | $300.00 | $1,000.00 | 91% | | Visits to my sons | $800 | $0.00 | $700.00 | 88% | | Glasses/Contacts | $259.87 | $59.87 | $234.87 | 90% | | Million Dollar Jobs | $75.00 | $75.00 | $50.00 | 67% | | Fair '11 | $160.00 | $60.00 | $160.00 | 100% | September | Fair '12 | $60.00 | $0.00 | $40.00 | 67% | | EF | $1,000.00 | $560.20 | $30.00 | 3% | | | $13,327.02 | $4,271.57 | $10,863.19 | 82% | | |

murphath: 11/1/2011: $507.00 (1/22/11 $0)Plus $75 this month. Made my original goal of $500 but since Christmas shopping is already done, we'll use this for DS's college graduation celebration in May. A little vacation to Disneyland. My goal is to save $800 and to get as many Disney dollars as possible on the credit card. Right now I have $164. Since we pay the cc's off every month, there's no budget harm there. I know many of you follow the Dave Ramsey credo of no credit cards, ever, but we've never had a problem using them in our budgeting. Just have to record all expenditures on a spread sheet so as not to go over. It's an Excel spreadsheet quasi-envelope system.

CaptainDuck - Yea for getting to the big 10K! Be sure to visit the updates above and admire your special angel smiley. fresh - That's the method I use too, it's a piece of isn't it. salsa - Yea for your first update! At the rate that you're going, you're going to have no problem meeting your goals before the end of the year. Woohoo! laramik - Congrats on your 5th rose! I like your idea of having a celebration fund to reward your husband for his outstanding sales. That is wonderfully supportive of you! murphath - And a double-congrats to you!! Not only have you met your savings goal - but you're also DONE with your Christmas shopping! An amazing feat AND even accomplished before November.

Thanks! I admit that DDs will want to hit some Black Friday sales. We don't get up early--usually get the store around 11ish. Everyone else is in line and we just browse. As long as we're in the line by 1 or so, Kohl's will honor the BF price. Since they are both in post grad schools, I steer them toward something really inexpensive for their bro, dad and I. Last year, DD1 got me 2 workout tees for $10 total. Love those shirts. So, if they have the long sleeve version this year, I'll steer her toward those. And if they see something they really, really like, I might sneek back in the store.

Dropped $1800 at DD's orthodontist today for Phase 1 of treatment. They estimate $6,000 for Phase 2 in the future. Tomorrow DH goes in for biopsy for skin cancer near his lip. (He makes his living as a sax player, so this is worrisome.)

wow congrats busybee! your totals are awesome!
I can't wait till I break the $20,000 threshold. I'm close but I didn't put $ in my account as much as I wanted to because I was trying to get my bills paid down. I should have my goal completed by the end of the year.
I was told I don't have to come up with the whole amount right away just at the end. 6 months then it will take 4 months for my house to be finished.

DH went in for the biopsy, and they couldn't find the spot! We are so grateful to God. This is such a huge blessing and relief on several levels! Thanks to all for your kind words. I have added some new goals now that we have more information regarding DD's needs.

Hi all - I just realized that it's been 3 days short of two full months since I posted last. Ack! But I'm still here! Things are going well, but I have to say that the 60 hour weeks are um... difficult, at best. Up at 5am, at work for 6:30, and not home until after 7pm. Blech. Thank goodness for the weekends! Our savings and debt paydown are still chugging along. I've pretty much given up on the car fund for the year. It's still there in savings, but I'm not stressing it like I was previously. Mostly, that's because DH will receive a buyout when he retires, and it will more than cover any new/used car we need at that point. I will start adding to the fund again in 2012, but it probably won't budge until then. Saving for property taxes is moving along well, as that's the main goal left (that I was racing) for the year. I think it's too much to hope that we'll get out of paying property taxes too, but a girl can hope, right? The non-racing savings goal that I am really focusing on right now is paying off the loan we took from DH's deferred comp to help with our down payment. I have just over $2000 saved. The most annoying problem is that they won't let me send money to the loan balance whenever I want. They won't penalize me for pre-paying it off, but you have to have the remaining balance in full, not just an extra hundred bucks here or there. :-( We'll make one more regular payment in December, and then in early January, I'll wipe out that particular savings fund, and pay that loan off in full. And then our only debt will be the mortgage. And that I can live with. ;D In the next week or so, I will fill out forms to start my own deferred comp account, which should start coming out as of my first paycheck in 2012. Once DH's loan is paid off, I'm going to set it up so that he's contributing to it again as well, since he hasn't contributed in years. I might be able to reach the contribution limit for my account, but probably not with DH's account. But, every little bit helps. I'm still running the numbers, but besides our retirement goals, our 2012 goals will include putting away an additional money towards DS's college account, starting a house-specific emergency fund, and setting up a small vacation fund. I'm not 100% sure what all the dollar amounts will be, but that'll happen soon enough! Stay warm all!! Hi all! I have been gone for a while but really need to get back to saving. Life just seems to happen sometimes and I needed to get refocused and back on track. So.....I am going to start my savings as of today. It will be my goal as we go into next year too. I know I will make some of these in the next year (TRS, 403B, Roth, and taxes) because they are set up on automatic payments. Others will take me a few years and that is ok.
