Don't give up. Is this a "see who can save the most type of thread"? I don't wander too far from the Grocery Challenge on the WIR board.

Not necessarily who can save the most. It is a thread about setting savings goals for yourself and posting your progress and struggles. Just like WIRR for racing debt. Hope you will join!

well the move did one good thing, I found the saving thread! I am a captain and couldn't find this thing on the old board I want to save up to 5k for the new year. Guess I need to figure out where I am at right now since it isn't a new 5 k amount.

I just found this board. It looks great and easier to use than bundle. I have a savings goal of 10,000. I already started with banking money I received for Christmas. I plan to reach my goal by paying myself first, and thoughtful spending.

I just created my account. Is this our official new home? I have my 2011 goals ready to go, but I figured I would wait to post them until I was sure this was the place.
I will finish out 2010 on the old msn boards.

dvm07 - you would post just like in the racers board.
dvm0712/29/10 $1629.85 (1/1/10 $0) - that is if you started at zero on Jan 1 of this year. So for next year, you would start with your current amount so it would look like.
dvm07 1/1/11$1629.85 (1/1/11 $1629.85)
Then we all just listed our goals spreadsheet with it or at least a list stating what your goals are. So you might say:
EF - $5000 if that is your only goal or
EF $3000 Vacation $1000 New car $1000
Something like that....whatever your specific goals are going to be for the year.
I am working on mine and will post them when the board gets up and running.

Hi everybody - After 4+ years on the WIRR International board, and paying off $27,917 in debt I am finally ready to move over to the WIRS thread. I am hopeful you good ladies will help me find a better balance, budget-wise. If the 50% needs-30% wants-20% savings pie-chart is considered the ideal, then my pie looks like it has been run over by a truck. In 2010, just my "Big 3" expenses (food, debt repayments, and car expenses) took up over 63% of my monthly budget, on average. Anyway, here's my chart: Fund | Goals | Jan1st | Current | YTD | Spent | % Met | Car License | $425 | $0 | 0 | $0 | $0 | 0.00% | Car Repair | $2,000 | $0 | 0 | $0 | $0 | 0.00% | Car Ins | $450 | $0 | 0 | $0 | $0 | 0.00% | Clothes | $285 | $0 | 0 | $0 | $0 | 0.00% | Home Repairs | $700 | $0 | 0 | $0 | $0 | 0.00%

After so many years in debt, and have come to be at a place where savings is now the goal!
There are no more credit cards - there is only cash and debit cards. There are no more credit card bills only mortgage and utilities and car payments (which I don't consider debt for these purposes).
What I don't have is an emergency fund of any kind and that is what will land me right back where I started if something happens. I have been on these boards for over 2 years lurking and posting occassionally, and it is time for me to join the SAVERS board so that I can get this EF issue resolved.
2011 is going to be the year I get things on an upswing financially with a back up plan. I hope that you all will have me!
I realize that these threads are not "official" yet...not sure if anyone knows when they will be or how I will even know when they are. I figured that I would at least register myself and introduce myself to all of you savers out there. I am looking forward to your encouragment and inspiration to help me reach my goals this year.

Oh boy, doing this by code is not very fun but once it's done, it's done and hopefully from now on I'll just have to copy and paste it each month. Accounts | 11 Goals | Last Month | This Month | % Met | Roses | Norway | $3000 | $0 | $0 | 0% | | Denmark | $3000 | $0 | $0 | 0% | | Vehicles | $2000 | $0 | $0 | 0% | | Gifts & Donations | $1500 | $0 | $0 | 0% | | Harley Trip | $1000 | $0 | $0 | 0% | | Solvang Trip | $1000 | $0 | $0 | 0% | | Fostering | $1000 | $0 | $0 | 0% | | Cultural | $1000 | $0 | $0 | 0% | | Vacay Prop | $1000 | $0 | $500 | 50% | | Christmas | $500 | $0 | $0 | 0% | | Oleana | $500 | $0 | $0 | 0% | | Quilting | $500 | $0 | $500 | 100% | Jan | Fun Stuff | $1000 | $0 | $0 | 0% | | LOC Payback | N/A | $0 | $0 | 0% | | TOTALS | $17000 | $0 | $1000 | 6%

On the racers west page: Slowbut sure made an excel table with the code laid out so you can plug and play! Very helpful, add change accordingly.

Molly + anyone who's interested. DVM07's got her "nifty husband". I've got LoveToBike's excel file, which I copied and made into a template. It's easy to use. Just plop your own info in there. Don't touch the "tr" and "td" codes though, or it won't work. To insert your chart here on proboards, just copy the whole thing and paste it inside your reply.

BabyBear19 1/1/11 $0 ($0 1/1/11)
I will have to wait until I get to a different computer before I post my table, but I wanted to let you all know that I am here and ready to get 2011 started!
And I didn't post my final numbers for 2010 over on the other boards, and decided not to do it over here, either. I messed my spreadsheet up sometime in December and just didn't want to mess with trying to figure it all out. I was at about 70% of my goal, which I am just THRILLED about!!
Hope that 2011 is starting off well for everyone!

My savings goal are pretty simplified this year- I have to replace my clothes (they are finally getting too big (YAY!!!)- but there will be no celebration til I hit that final number. The other three things I want to get accomplished are to make a second extra car payment this year (I already will make one plus by paying $30 extra every month) and I want to start saving for some more things I need for the apartment (like a bedroom suite because my dressers are on their last legs).
My budget is pretty easy: 880 a month pay 168 rent 270 car payment (I send 300) 89 car insurance 17 co-pays 125 Utilities 50 layaway (furniture- 1/3 payments) 30 Fuel 15 Checks (Once every year or 2) Leaves over a hundred dollars for everything else- and I am still eating out of last year's stockpile.

Welcome back both old and new Savers!Teachermom - I see you're already helping out newbies, you rock. I'm curious to see your goals for 2011, what wonderful vacation plans do you have in the works? Patchwork150 - Thank you for braving the waters in this new uncharted territory. I followed your lead and so far so good. I never did ask over there - are you a quilter? Ntrick - Yea, I couldn't believe it either but I believe this is our new home. Congrats on your news for 2011! Babybear19 - Will you need to be buying a new computer? You're such a good Saver, I hope you're up and running soon. Mak - Yes, I believe this is it, so feel free to post when ready. If you're not familiar with writing code, I suggest using the template that Writer88 posted in message #24. It's wonderfully set up. Writer88 - Your table looks great! You apparantly are experienced with the Savers? Thanks so much for attaching your template. It's going to help out several of us with mediocre computing knowledge. Cheerleadingmama7 - Welcome! Thanks for introducing yourself, you're going to fit right in. Are you familiar with the traditional format we've been using on the MSN WIRS board? If not, you might want to go back to the old board and check out the info on Page 1. It helps explain a lot. Alrighty WIR Savers, let's show 2011 what we're made of!
