No one will ever be able to match Firefly. No. The way Firefly was done on TV (out of order) was what caused me to lose my idealism that TV executives had any sort of intelligence. FWIW: Once Upon a Time has Jane Espensen (and a couple other people who's names escape me) who is a Joss Whedon alumni Friends and I were considering just that! I don't think that will happen - if Jane Espensen keeps on with the writing or influencing it I think with what she's learned about 'pain' from Marti Noxon... I suspect Regina will take some lumps and be a bit wimpy for a bit - probably get us viewers to be more sympathic to her painful plight - but she'll come back roaring and eviler and more justified in that evil than ever before. I'm looking forward to it thru my fingers covering my eyes.

Yeah...I'm not at all sold on Revolution.
I'm curious why Revolution has such a large audience and great ratings while Last Resort doesn't. Just boggles the mind. One of the 2 shows is at least grounded in some form of "this could actually happen"....and it certainly ain't Revolution.
I'm not sure if anyone has read the book 'One Second After' by William Forstchen....but it's basically a post-apocalyptic what would happen if an EMP went off type scenario. While it isn't necessarily the best written book, it is by far more based in reality and if there was ever a show made about that book, I think it would succeed. If it didn't it would probably be because people don't really want to see what would ACTUALLY happen in that type of scenario.

Last Resort is a far superior show to me than Revolution. Maybe having Last Resort opposite The Big Bang Theory is hurting the ratings though with the DVR these days I wouldn't think too many people are watching much of anything live

I LOVE Big Bang Theory and like a few of the other CBS comedies like Mike and Molly and Two Broke Girls but in general I don't get a lot of the new sitcoms they have out these days. They don't seem all that funny to me or perhaps I just like old school comedy or something...

I've heard good things about Last Resort. I'll probably go take a look at that show. I'm wondering who the target audience for Revolution is.... I'm surprised it's got good ratings/viewage. Then again I'm in the 'not important to ratings or any consumer stuff group' as I am female and over then age of 45. Apparently, even though I have money to spend no one wants to 'court my favor' as I am too old.

We actually enjoy Revolution. We want to know why the lights went off and how to get them back on. The target audience is apparently my high school seniors. I have no idea why, but they all started watching it. Maybe it is The Hunger Games effect; Charlie does have a bow and arrow. I started watching it on their recommendation. One of my students the other day recommended I read Shades of Grey. I have actually read it, but I still called it for what it is: trash. Today she made fun of me in front of the class, saying: "Elizabeth, that book is traaashhh!" Yay, Elizabeth. I may get to keep my job another year.

Yeah, DH and I have a similar theory on why "Idiocracy" bombed... too close to the truth about what's happening in America. The majority of the viewers identified themselves as members of Clevon's family.

I have actually read it, but I still called it for what it is: trash. Anyone else watching Supernatural? Not too impressed with the last season or the current season so far. I am determined to stick it out though because I am really curious how they are going to end the show.

They've already done the apocalypse/end of the world thing. Which is why I am so curious. They've exhausted just about everything. I really hope it doesn't turn out to be a crappy ending like LOST.

I am determined to stick it out though because I am really curious how they are going to end the show. Again I think it goes back to the fact that they were ready to wrap it up 2 seasons or so ago but kept it going because of ratings. For the most part I agree with you though and like you I want to see how they wrap it up especially since I've seen every episode. Hopefully this is the last season because it's getting repetitive but with the main plot they have going it should allow them to end the show quite easily one way or another.

Apparently, I need to go back and watch Firefly. Does it actually have an ending or is it one of those shows they just took off the air with no wrap-up involved - I hate it when they do that! If that is the case then I probably will not bother to watch it.

Dh and I thought for sure Supernatural was going to end after the Lucifier story line but then it kept going.
Now we're onto a tablet that could close the gates of hell so I would think that we are reaching the end of the series. There's just no where left to go!
I'd be pissed if the series ends like LOST because the writers forget half of what they wrote. However they seem to do a better job with the main underlying storyline so hopefully they are able to write a good ending.

If that is the case then I probably will not bother to watch it. No wrap up whatsoever. A little closure by watching the movie after the series. Edit: And if you have Science Channel (I think) and a DVR they seem to run a Firefly marathon a couple times a year.

DH's theory is that they still need to make things "aesthetically pleasing" otherwise viewers won't watch it so they either dumb things down or gloss over things so people don't question what they are seeing.

The Serenity movie helped wrap up some firefly. There is also a graphic novel that fills in some details. But all in all, it wasn't like a cliffhanger, never come back to it, kind of thing... a few loose ends do not justify missing it, in my opinion ... sooooo well written... "Mercy is the mark of a great man.... " Can we please do firefly quotes, we can start its own thread...

I guess I'm the complete opposite since I'm pretty aware of what would "actually" happen if these scenarios came to life. I question 'Revolution' all the time because the premise is so far fetched and the plot is full of holes....and that doesn't even include the stupidity of "Charlie" and her "don't do anything bad to the bad man" mentality.

River: So we'll integrate non-progressional evolution theory with God's creation of Eden. Eleven inherent metaphoric parallels already there. Eleven. Important number. Prime number. One goes into the house of eleven eleven times, but always comes out one. Noah's ark is a problem. Book: Really? River: We'll have to call it early quantum state phenomenon. Only way to fit 5000 species of mammal on the same boat. Come on... No one ....

...and that doesn't even include the stupidity of "Charlie" and her "don't do anything bad to the bad man" mentality. Not to mention her total flip flop about killing people when she volunteers to kill the "Warden" with the big bad rifle - someone who's not hurting her or her friends and has next to nothing to do with getting her brother back (ok Bomb Girl won't help them until she gets the gun.... but still... totally made my brain). I know my Moral Compass sometimes spins around erratically but it usually doesn't stop spinning on a point opposite to the course I normally hold - I like to think that other people's Moral Compass works that way as well (there are alot of gray areas in life). I just can't forgive Stupid Girl for the total change in 'morality' to suit whatever situation comes up. I'm not the target audience for this show.

If only she was only talking about the ship and it's parts...
Kaylee: Sometimes a thing gets broke can't be fixed.
I think you might be able to learn everything you need to about life (and some of the best ways to respond to what life throws you) from a Whedon series/movie.

I agree Tiny Specks...
Mal: Sure as I know anything, I know this - they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, ten? They'll swing back to the belief that they can make people... better. And I do not hold to that. So no more runnin'. I aim to misbehave.
