Supernatural wasn't bad the last two seasons the show just seemed to be winding down as Kripke was leaving but it seems like it got picked up again because the ratings were there. I watched the first 3-4 seasons of Lost but got tired of getting jerked around by the show because at that point they always left you with more questions than answers in each episode. About a season after I stopped watching people kept saying it got better but at that point I didn't want to play catch up. Anyways I watched the pilot of Revolution and it was nothing special as it was predictable and the "ah hah" moments didn't really get me interested but I'll give it another shot. With some of the other shows I watch starting next week if it doesn't pick up big time it won't be on my DVR list by the time episode 3 rolls around.

Agree on both the Lost thing (became convinced the writers forgot half what they threw out there and just left things dangling... very unsatisfying to watch) and the yawn regarding the Revolution premiere.
I started watching Sons of Anarchy a few seasons ago because their commercials implied they'd do some cool motorcycle stunts. While I was incredibly disappointed to find there were no cool stunts whatsoever (and they all ride clunky Harleys, so maybe stunts aren't even possible on those fogeycycles...) and none of the women even ride at all, for whatever reason I became somewhat interested in the plot and characters. Probably because they're not afraid to take dark and unexpected plot turns and all the regular network stuff just seems so boring and predictable.
So I do watch SOA and like that it's rarely dull or predictable. (But why do the black gang members get the much cooler hangout bar, music and cars while the SOA crew drives POS vehicles and has a grubby garage hangout? Is this a socioeconomic thing - the Niners get to retail both guns and drugs while the Sons just mule the drugs and wholesale the guns - or just that the brothers have better taste?) This season's getting off to a bit of a slow start, IMHO, though. Hope it speeds up soon.

I'd say the latter. My uncle and a lot of DH's relatives are in Harley clubs - I know they're not SoA-level gangs, but the dive bar and grubby garage thing seems to be a standard, despite socioeconomic status.

I feel like we are all kindred spirits I had felt left out with the Supernatural thing and noticed they were replaying it 2 episodes every day on tbs or tnt or something. I tivo'd the first 6 seasons and caught up on them this summer, I bought season 7 on Amazon so I have been trying to get through that (on episode 11- hoping to get it done before season 8 starts) From what I have read on line Season 8 is basically a whole new chapter and kind of a reboot if you will. Similar to what they did with Alias in the middle of that show. Super excited for Walking Dead to come back. My 14 year old son isn't a big fan of tv so he doesn't watch much with us but I'll admit it- TWD is a show we all watch together as a family

I feel so left out. And on my own thread. About something I love so dearly - television.

Start watching Supernatural, The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. You'll fit right in.
I do really recommend Breaking Bad. We never watched it until DH stumbled across a marathon starting with season one. We got hooked.

Well, I don't watch much TV. Although I'd probably watch a little more if you guys would suggest some stuff that was very interesting. Obviously, Revolution didn't remotely move the meter, so must be a bit out there. Challenging and interesting, but going places.
(Sorry, Lost fans - that wasn't going anywhere. It was like watching the stream of consciousness ramblings of a person on good drugs. Interesting for a little while then quickly boring when it never tied together and you realized it never would.)
I'll add Breaking Bad to the list - sounds interesting.

I enjoyed LOST till the last season. I call bullshit on the writers claiming they had an ending figured out since the start. If you did then you royally screwed up the middle of the story because it didn't connect to the ending AT ALL.
I've been getting into Hell on Wheels lately on AMC. I didn't watch much of the first season but I've been watching the second with DH and it's getting really good.

I feel so left out. And on my own thread. About something I love so dearly - television. Meh, the only one of these shows I've seen was Lost, which I did watch all of and teh freaking finale sucked balls. Actually the last several episodes were a mess if I recall correctly. Oh, and I saw a few episodes of Big Love. They killed Bill? What happened to all the wives? I can't imagine how that worked out.

Thyme- sorry didn't mean to make you feel left out Breaking Bad is good- but we got busy and stopped watching it somewhere around season 2 so we have to go back and catch up on that. Lost- I liked it until the last season too- I really felt like they were phoning it in and half-assing the writing. The finale was disappointing and annoying. Of course by then JJ was all about making movies (Mission Impossible)

Yes, half-ass writing is the best way to describe that. AMC has some of the best shows on TV to me. I was addicted to season 1 and 2 of The Killing.

As a Harley rider myself, I take offense to this statement! LOL. I promise my bike is not a "fogeycycle", but that's a funny term lol. The women can't ride because in real life one-percenter clubs, women can't be full members. They can only become auxiliary members or be "old ladies".
I do really wish I would have watched this show simply because of all the good things I hear about it. It would just be a lot to catch up on now! And I already need to catch up on Weeds, How I Met Your Mother, and The Big Bang Theory!
Yes, Bill was killed in the end by their neighbor, of all people. It skipped ahead by a few years I believe and showed that all the wives were still together. The ending was pretty unlikely and a bit of a let down, if you ask me!
I'm a bit of a TV addict lol. "My name is Pammy and I am a TV-holic!" I even have my shows on an Excel spreadsheet to make sure I don't miss anything lol. DH just started watching Lost on Netflix instant but I refused to watch it with him because of all I have heard about how bad the ending was.

Ok, just crossed "Catch up on Big Love" off my list... no need for that. I do want to catch up on weeds... we try to stay current on Big Bang Theory.

I caught part of Revolution last night and was disappointed as well.... I'm a stickler for details though and one thing that stood out to me is the time-frame. I missed the beginning to know how far in the future the event supposedly happens, but if a fairly young guy from Google is still alive - why is everyone reduced to using only swords, knives, bows and arrows? Yeah, the "bad" guys have the guns - but the guns I saw were either single shot rifles (in the main fight scene at the hotel) or similarly old style guns. I can't imagine all of the ammo has been used up.....there's too many conspiracy theorists in real life for that to be "reality" in a show!! And a futuristic "power" source that can only boot up an old style modem? Phleeze!

We did start watching breaking bad when it was first on. It was so depressing and "out there" for me. Same with Dexter - I just couldn't relate, even though I knew it was a great show. In general, I like things with more familiar themes. The Walking Dead - no clue what that is about but it sounds dark. And with Supernatural - I guess that goes back to me prefering (in general) real life things. Mad Men is about people, going to work, going home, having relationships. That is appealing to me. Big Love was about a marriage, and a family - granted it was a plural marriage, but their life looked like mine - house, kids, dinner on the table, money, bills, etc.
Maybe that is why I never watched Lost and didn't really adhere to Revolution. I didn't see myself there.

AMC has marathons all the time. I wouldn't be surprised if they have another one before the last 6 episodes are aired.
That's how we got into it. They had a marathon starting from season one before they started last year's season.
Thyme if you like shows about relationships and stuff you might like Boardwalk Empire on HBO. It's set in the 1920s during Prohibition but it's very character/relationship driven.

I actually went to the PBS website to see if they had any episodes and they were CHARGING for them! So I went back to Netflix and started watching Weeds to bide my time. Well, I've run out of Weeds episodes and Season 2 STILL hasn't been added. Check with your library. That is where I got the first few seasons. Weeds was another one of those shows that I really liked the first few seasons but then the main character (can't even think of her name) just got a little too stupid for me. Thanks almost40! I will check it out.

I was finally able to watch Revolution last night. I think I'm gonna stick with it for a while. Fortunately they're doing encore episodes because the original time slot is already taken on my DVR (Castle and Hawaii Five-O). I wasn't crazy about Castle and Beckett getting together at the end of the last season so if they focus to much on the relationship this season, they're gonna lose me. Same with Bones - jury is still out on how that's gonna work. Of course, smartass me told my daughter right after the lights went out that I already knew the cause. It was Snake Plisken...........duh!!! ;D Then I felt old cuz she didn't even know who that was or what I was referencing.

Fifteen years without electricity or motorized machines, and with militias a constant threat, yet everything looks the same except that there's corn growing in the front yard. Clothes look pretty good, roofs don't look patchy, roads look OK?
Why hasn't the world turned radioactive as the cooling pools in radioactive power plants evaporate? Where are all the 7 billion people on earth who have fled the cities? I don't mind the sword fighting and action, but I just couldn't suspend my disbelief enough to care about all the pretty, manicured actors.

I watched (most of it. Fell asleep on the couch with 15 minutes to go ). I love the premise but I agree that I thought it would be more than just the standard action/drama. I suppose DH will decide if we are going to watch it again or not because I don't care about it either way. I'm glad to see you are submitting to your husband's leadership...the way it should be.

I don't mind the sword fighting and action, but I just couldn't suspend my disbelief enough to care about all the pretty, manicured actors. That's exactly why I get so bored watching the standard network stuff now. They just can't/won't go deeper than pretty, well-groomed actors getting in brief jams that may be ever so slightly scary for 20 seconds but always end well. The only people that ever really die or have awful stuff happen to them are bit players brought on specifically for that role or really bad guys. Probably why I keep watching SOA - it's not afraid to get real and get dark if that's what's called for. Had the Revolution scenario been floated on the SOA set, they probably would have had people cannibalizing each other within an episode or two. It's not that I necessarily want to watch the crazy, dark stuff, but it does keep things interesting to know the plot isn't going to be confined to pretty people that never break a fingernail.

You'd have to pry my DVR out of my cold dead hands. It's made it so much easier for DH and I to watch TV. Especially now since we have a toddler who's sole interests are Bubble Guppies, Team Umizoomi and Spongebob.

I agree Wrongside. The season finale was awesome!
I like Breaking Bad for a similar reason. It's really fascinating to watch Walt's character transform into a complete sociopath. It's scary what a normal person can turn into under the right circumstances.

DH and I JUST started watching Breaking Bad. We're only 3 episodes in. I can't believe how involved meth making is, lol. I just finished episode 2! I started watching when I finished up with Weeds.
