I don't know about this particular situation, kitten, but I can say you don't necessarily know what goes on behind the scenes. A poster may be contacted about something they've posted without your knowledge. You aren't aware of all actions taken. What punishment are we talking about here? Do you actually want someone banned every time another poster discerns an insult to have been aimed their way? If that's what you want, you'll find the old adage of "be careful what you wish for" to be very, very pertinent, and it could just as easily impact you, or any other poster, whether insult was intended, or not. There's also the matter of the Ignore function. If there's someone you don't like, and you don't choose to use the Ignore function to keep this person from irritating you, whose choice is that? Except we cannot ignore mods. True enough. We can choose to scroll down past their posts though. Kinda like the way I scroll past everything that AAPL fanboi rovo posts.

Relax with the bumps guys. This thread is growing so fast there will be a real second post made within thirty seconds anyway, so by the time you post bump it's already half way down the page and just getting that page filled up faster so we get back to the board eating posts that much faster.

"It's not even that... mmhmm is claiming that if you quote someone and they revise the post you quoted or delete it.. it shows up in your post as either deleted or you have the revised version.. which is a bunch of bullshit. "
Oh, that's total bullshit...I will test it later when I get home.....

My bump is the 5th post in and I could not see any of the 4 previous ones until I did. Bumps will continue until it gets fixed. Deal with it.

There's no reason to test it. Anyone who quotes a lot can tell you that it doesn't work that way. For example if you were to go edit the post I'm quoting here to change bullshit to horseshit for example, this post would still show bullshit. It's always worked that way.

And for a lot I do just that, for example 99% of what hoops posts. However, morally I cannot sit aside and have someone make excuses for adults raping children, nor can I when that person is defended. That, to me, is morally wrong. As an adult, hoops anti-women comments, are not likely to have a major effect. An adult's view on abuse on minor, on the other hand, can have major effect. Then when you add the fact that he decided to blanket delete statements, while the thread was gone, so people don't see the comments, I am going to respond.

Not exactly... there was no test that showed the system replaced the removed text with the statement "references deleted post", which is what shows up in the posts in question. It is obvious that some moderator went in to our posts, deleted the WWBG quote and typed in "references deleted post". That's not a system generated message.

Any subsequent changes to the original post that is quoted will NOT show up in the quote made before the changes. Please, show me where I said otherwise.

I remember a poster (who I haven't seen around in a while) getting really angry and laying into me on a thread. I responded once or twice and then quit - - even though she kept it up for another few posts. Then there was silence for a day and a half. Then she came back and started in on me again without any involvement from me. One of the mods came on and said, "cut it out, you two." When I pointed out that I had been completely silent for almost 2 days and was continuing to not respond, the response I got was something along the lines of "well we have to enforce the rules equally." So yeah, I agree that attacks rarely get "punished." I don't know about this particular situation, kitten, but I can say you don't necessarily know what goes on behind the scenes. A poster may be contacted about something they've posted without your knowledge. You aren't aware of all actions taken. What punishment are we talking about here? If that's what you want, you'll find the old adage of "be careful what you wish for" to be very, very pertinent, and it could just as easily impact you, or any other poster, whether insult was intended, or not. There's also the matter of the Ignore function. If there's someone you don't like, and you don't choose to use the Ignore function to keep this person from irritating you, whose choice is that? I think what irked me about this situation was that the other poster was very vocal about wanting ME to be "punished" (for I guess insulting her?) when in fact I HAD ignored her for almost two days - even after she came back and laid into me in multiple postings without any provocation from me. It was just hard to hear "cut it out" when I had already done so and was deliberately NOT responding to the active attacks happening on me.

So... since this seems like the last outstanding issue in this mess; will the mod that went in and changed Milee and MM's posts just fess up and apologize so we can move on?

Except, that is not what happened on the other thread. Nor, does it look like that is what is done when someone changes their original post. Maybe it works that way for a mod, but again, the comment that was within the quotes in Milee's post was not caused by the delete of the deleted post.

Seriously Virgil? Milee TRAPPED him and he was the victim??? FFS you cannot believe this shit that you type sometimes... can you? 90% of WWBG's post drip with the hatred he feels towards women... you can almost hear him seething in the words that he types.. and his description of the 15 yr old was absolutely fucking twisted! And it went downhill from there!!!! I have no preconceptions about his views on women. As for your damning characterization of his views, the thread is viewable in its entirety. ::This is the most natural, logical extension of Proboards' rules, which hold that a poster has the right to delete their posts at any time, for any reason.:: So basically, unless we want mods going into our posts and changing them at someone's whim, we need to stop using the "quote" feature and instead just give our own synopsis of what we claim someone said. Ostensibly, yes. Unless the de facto policy changes. (If it does, the change will be posted.) Personally I can count on one hand the number of times a poster has asked to delete their own content. The reason has always been legitimate. A bit of personal information slips in. A photo gets out. Etcetera.
