Uh oh. The cavalry is turning on each other! Stay strong guys. You have to put up a united front. You can't let the unwashed masses win. Next they'll want elections, free speech,... all kinds of stupid crap.

I didn't read the original thread and haven't completed this thread so take my comment for what it's worth. Moderators are human. It's well known on these boards that WWBG has issues around sex, women and his relationship with his wife. I'm not surprised he got caught up in a controversy of this nature. I don't think I could be any different, depending on the topic. We need more moderators.

The posts say they were modified by WWBG - so I don't think it was systematic. He went in and deleted them. He edited someone else's posts. So, now we are just waiting for the mods to decide if that is okay or not. They have already listed all the reasons that it is okay, and that we are all over-reacting.

Since five minutes ago? No. I try to tie off loose ends. So blame me. Leave WWBG out of it. He's sensitive to others' perceptions of him.

I forgot we are supposed to stop doing that. JHC, did I miss something about not quoting people? I think I am gonna just go sit in a corner with a "smoke" and a really tall drink

Well, I guess if you have the "remember me" checked. I guess I assumed he would actually log off if he was going to ban himself. If I were banned, would I be able to log on? Don't you just get an error that says you are banned, or does the ban just make it so you don't have a reply button?

I hope to sound like the voice of reason here. Sometimes when you have it good, you tend to get comfortable. Then when some 'law enforcement' has to take place, everyone has a problem with 'how it was handled'.
You have a lot more freedom here than you did back on MSN. When you first joined here, you were so happy to be away from that environment and be able to have more freedom of speech. If you remember correctly, you couldn't even say "damn" or "hell" without it being censored out. And if a disagreement erupted, more often than not, someone would get banned - without explanation or reason. And if you questioned a mod's actions, then YOU would find yourself gone too, in a lot of cases.
Instead of being so damned picky about moderators and their decisions (no, it's not an easy job), why not be more appreciative of what you DO have - the right to express yourselves and air your grievances (within the CofC and TOS) and not be silenced for doing so - Just my two cents.

Of course all your repeated slams about my opinions have caused me to change them.

Now we can't even talk about triscuits, you know our favorite c*r*a*c*k*e*r. What line have I crossed? The one where I'm concerned that a mod is able to modify anything I post if he and I get into a heated debate. He could change my words to "I'm a big fat dummy." And there is no policy to punish him, and all the other mods will come on and say that he didn't break any rules.

Completely reasonable. The whole issue exploded because those are the exact rights that were taken away. A moderator stepped in deep doody with some horrific comments, panicked and then removed the entire post. When people came on to ask what happened to the post, they were told to "quit bitching." When people continued to respectfully disagree with the situation and question some of the moderators' actions, they were told that they needed to "cool the fuck down" and that if they asked again the entire Board would be shut down.
Now does it make a little more sense why things got heated? If the right to express ourself within the CoC was not summarily taken away and then we weren't treated rudely for daring to question that - and a few other - decisions - this whole thing would never have been discussed.

What the heck does it matter whether the man logs in or checks his PMs? Heck I view threads all the time without logging in. Anyone can do that even regular banned folks.

It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.

No, I'm not claiming any such thing. If you quote a post, it will copy to your post as it is at the time your post is made. Any subsequent changes to the original post that is quoted will NOT show up in the quote made before the changes. Please, show me where I said otherwise. Except, that is not what happened on the other thread. Nor, does it look like that is what is done when someone changes their original post. Maybe it works that way for a mod, but again, the comment that was within the quotes in Milee's post was not caused by the delete of the deleted post. Gin, what was within the quote on Milee's post in the locked thread was put there by WWBG. Nobody ... I repeat ... nobody has denied it was put there by WWBG when he deleted his own post and all quotes of it. There was nothing sinister. While you might not agree with what WWBG did, and while I might do it differently, or another mod might do it another way, nobody has claimed the comment got there any other way than WWBG putting it there. Nobody has said it was there because the original post was deleted. Nobody.

I don't think I expressed myself properly. I wish I could just delete all my posts, and everyone who quoted me.
I'm only asking the question if PM's are a feature you can still use if you are banned. I'm pretty sure they are not, for good reason.

"Go ahead and close it then"
you still want me to do that? because i'm ready. 28 pages of venting. you have had MORE than ample time to make your points. This thread is now being closed and the next one that gets started on it earns someone a ban.
~moon/ mod.
<i have edited my post to replace whining with venting. whining was a poor choice of words on my part. i know you all just wanted to make your voices heard. my apologies>
