If we can't discuss things that are within the CoC, but that cast moderators in a bad light, maybe we should close the whole thing down.

I don't want the board to shut down, but if a thread is locked, it should be locked, period. Not locked except-for-admins-who-want-to-keep-arguing-their-point.
Pretty easy to win an argument when no one else is given the chance to respond...

sometimes, mods don't notice right away that a thread has been locked mid. if they are in that thread when it gets locked, it doesn't pop up a warning saying 'thread locked'.. so it generally isn't done on purpose.

Maybe you might want to consider why some generally really rational posters are getting their panties in a twist before you pull the plug.

It would appear that an abuse of power is at hand. How this is all resolved is another question:-/

Guys, let us let it go for now, and deal with it when Moonbeam does not seem so stressed. I am sure we can bring it up later.

His post was 5 minutes after it was locked. I don't buy it. i don't care.. it's still possible.. i didn't see the post but if it happened to be lengthy one it would have locked while he was writing. to a mod, the reply box is ALWAYS there. i have accidentally posted on locked threads too if i have been reading and then responded not knowing it was locked while i read.

I'm not going to take sides because I did not read the original thread and post(s) that caused the problem. What I did glean out of reading the latest comments on another thread (now locked) is that there could have been a better choice of words used to express a thought. Happens all the time. What you all need to do is take a cooling off period and relax a bit before you tackle the issue again. Try talking to each other via PM, or email. Too many distractions will only muddy the waters you all are trying to tread through. Too many good people, some veterans of these boards with good reputations, are hurt, or being hurt by this issue. I hate seeing this happening.

If we can't discuss things that are within the CoC, but that cast moderators in a bad light, maybe we should close the whole thing down. Please, please. let this go. At least for tonight. I don't want the board closed down and I'd prefer you cool your anger before deciding one thread disappearing merits an entire board disappearing because you are upset. People are people and neither the Moon or the mods are paid. Volunteers don't need to act as rationally as those people who are paid and can get fired. Please keep in mind Moon, WWBG, etc. are human and if they are having a bad day or being pushed too much we may not like their decisions or what they say. Given what I know about volunteering with an organization, PSGCNJ, I expect Moon puts in way too many hours here. Hopefully not 40/wk but I'll hazard a guess she regularly logs in 20 hours a week or so. We, myself may not agree with the decisions that are made here but the bottom line is if we are not willing to put in the hours to create our own board or become volunteer mods giving many hours a week of our time to the cause I think it is wise to let those who do the lion's share of the work make those decisions. As a shameless plug, those in NJ who might need to find jobs or employees I recommend checking out www.psgcnj.org . We have lost support from NJ DOL and are doing our best to stay alive and viable. Keeping things going in a purely volunteer organization such as this board headed by Moon is rarely an easy feat. Kudos to those who put in the time and deal with the inevitable firestorms like tonight. I'm feeling slightly nostalgic as one of our notorious volunteer people issues was at our general meeting today.

I missed the thread, but I personally can take 10 or more minutes to write a reply especially if I'm doing something else too. If its possible, it is possible.
If it really bothers you become a mod next time the opportunity comes up and see how things appear from the other side. Because of spell check, etc. I've often seen 10 posts go in after I started crafting my reply and yes it posts 10, 15 or more minutes later.

If a single person who dares to question the way things are working is enough to get the whole board shut down then that's a pretty clear sign it needs to go. The system isn't working.

Is this about my after-lock post? For crying out loud. The only indication we have is that the word 'Lock' changes to 'Unlock' in some far corner of the page. I'm sorry if I don't look at it every five minutes. But fine. I'll delete it. It's gone. Finito. Let it not be said that I can get the last word in.

What kind of a teenager would screw their teacher? One who is preyed on by a predator. One who is made to feel special by an adult in a position of power over him or her.

If you want to apologize to me for your misquote of me on the other post, I'll understand if you want to do it here since that thread is locked. Your response to Swamp is insulting and flip. I hope your response to me is respectful since I've been respectful in tone to you.

The point is.. for a mod, the reply box never goes away.. so it really doesn't matter how long after the thread was locked that the post was made. unless he went OUT of the thread and back in, there was no way for him to know it was locked.

Unfortunately no. It would require a forced refresh of the page every time a moderator posted (since that's the only event horizon on which 'lock' status can be updated). A forced refresh would require the post data to be stored either locally or remotely. There's too much data to be transmitted via AJAX remotely, and not all moderators have local storage enabled.
In short, we're sorry if we post after the lock, but realistically: it's going to happen sometimes. And, as I've said, I've deleted my after-lock post. So no harm, no foul.
