So we're on to pet names now? You guys are reminding me of the SNL skit "Gettin' Quirky with Zooey Deschanel" where she said she's going to name her pets people names and her kids pet names. I'm halfway there! Good thing i don't want kids or else I'd have a daughter named Snowball and a boy called Tigger.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if I should start by getting the cats last names changed to mine. Or they should at LEAST be hyphenated. Neither of them will be reproducing, but if I take them to the vet, I don't want to have any snarky comments about how they aren't really my cats... Karma. That was funny. I wonder what we put down for our alien kitty's last name. Probably our last name (which was only DH's last name at the time). We were almost engaged when we got her. Of course you know how this one should really be determined, don't you? Who the cat snuggles with at night

Pet people? Don't worry, we don't send our pets to kitty hotels or spas or have them as beneficiary on our accounts or anything.
Then you don't really love them!

I mean, my Molly has my last name at the vet's office but maybe I should have given her my daughters' last name or hypenated it to be fair, right?

I took DH's last name after we got married. We're 7 years in and I still haven't gotten around to updating my name on my bank account. It helped me determine who was selling my name, though!

Are you kidding? In my house we have had Chauncey M. Depew, Archibald Leonard Peach, Charlemagne Vespucci, among others. No such thing as normal names like Fluffy or Spot.

But none of them had our last name until the vet wanted them to have it.

My cats have their own first and last name. I am going to rule cat lady status! My cats have all 3 names. Their middle name is the same as mine and their last name is DH's. Even the boys have my middle name because it's both a male and female name. ;D

We have Puckthumper The Shameless. He's diligent about living up to his last name (although as far as the vet knows, his name is Thumper Smith).
Anybody watch How I Met Your Mother? I haven't seen the finale yet, but I saw reports that they gave their kid "Waitforit" as a middle name ;D

Our kitty's name is Tessercat (for those who have read A Wrinkle In Time, the "wrinkle" is known as a tesseract, and she's very wrinkly so it fit nicely . We saw The Avengers this weekend and kept snickering whenever the characters would talk about how powerful and chaotic the tesseract was, or how much damage it was doing. It was a cute inside joke. We went home and told her how much trouble she was in for causing the destruction of NYC

My cats are Mina and Maia Morris. The vet's office staff call them the M&M's.
As for changing my name, if I do ever get married, I would not change it or hyphenate. Five years ago, maybe. But at this point I am well established in my career with a good reputation. I really don't see the point or advantage. I do have a doctorate; and yes, I do use my title professionally. However, I do not correct anyone who calls me by my first name unless they are being jerks.
If I was with someone who gave me an ultimatum, I would know that it wasn't meant to be.

I wanted to name our cat Dee O. Gee, but no one here has a sense of humor like mine. Sooooo, I named her Kit Tee Kat. Then we got to looking and seen that she was really a he. So, changed it to MR. Kit T. Cat. Our Chihuahua's name is Behemoth but he call him Bobo.

A friend of mine had two cats named Salt and Pepper. I kidded her that if she got a third cat, she could name him "Shoop."

I guess my dog always had my last name in my head. One of my friends gave her the middle name "Grace" when she was in fake scolding her and it stuck.
She's mostly "Mads" - but she knows you mean business if you bust out "Madeline Grace"

We have a cat named Whiskey, and a dog named Molly. No middle or last names. Although I guess on the vet records they're Whiskey Honor and Molly Honor... only with our real last name instead of Honor.
