diapers of exclusively breasfed babies do not stink...and also aren't all that full since breastmilk is used way more effectively than formula so much less passes through I found depending what I ate, it made Gwen's poop stink. And she had some pretty spectacular blow outs. It SUCKED because breastmilk poo is so damn runny. I actually prefer solid food poo over B-milk poo. It smells worse but it is so much easier to clean up.

I've seen them directed at a dear friend who adopted her daughter. We even had someone walk by us one day, and say "breast is best" while she was feeding her little girl.) Good God people are horrible! I might have punched the woman. The only time I remember getting any sort of judgement is when a cashier at a grocery store asked me how old DD was. She was only like 5 days or something & I swear the cashier gave me the staredown like I was the worst mother in the world for taking out a 5 day old. My neighbor had a lovely story about how a random stranger was trying to keep her from giving her kid a sugary drink when her son was going into diabetic shock. She said if she wasn't worried about her kid dying, she might have really cussed the woman out, but limited her response to "mind your own fucking business".

My diaper genie will change the diapers for me. That's what a diaper genie does, right? Right?? ((pats head)). Of course, sweetie. *sighs in relief* Good.

Are you including new stepparents in that? It was mostly just an off-the-cuff remark so it's not like I've thought this through. I just know that some countries have fully paid maternity and paternity leaves. I'd pay more taxes to cover that benefit. I've seen them directed at a dear friend who adopted her daughter. We even had someone walk by us one day, and say "breast is best" while she was feeding her little girl. I'd be so tempted to respond with something like, "Okay, let me just track down the birth mother and rip off her shirt."

With the number of people I see smoking in cars (with babies in the backseat), restaurants, letting their kids play in the street, you'd think - if people have SUCH a need to make unsolicited comments on others' parenting - they could focus on things that are causing real harm instead...
Seriously.
My neighbor had a lovely story about how a random stranger was trying to keep her from giving her kid a sugary drink when her son was going into diabetic shock.
WOW. Comments are one thing but sorry, some random stranger puts their hands on me in public when I'm trying to take care of my kid and they will more than likely have a recovery time. They'd be lucky to ONLY get shoved to the ground.

The one thing I see a lot that bugs that crap out of me is when kids aren't dressed appropriately for the weather. I would never comment, but if it is snowing & windy & I see a 2-4 year old in short sleeves & no jacket I really do want to cuss at the parents. Especially if the parent is wearing a coat - You were smart enough to realize you might be cold, but didn't bother to wonder if you kid might get cold also.
Bleh, I just keep my mouth shut though.

And that is why I keep my mouth shut because I am sure SOME of the parents have a good reason. Although I do remember there was a kid about 6 yrs old at a ski slope when it was like 10 degrees out crying because his hands hurt. His mom told him he shouldn't have lost his gloves & made no effort to help him. I was way younger & didn't say anything, but I think there is a line at which you don't need a kid to feel the full consequences of their actions. Does the kid really need to get frostbite to teach him a lesson? At 6? It made me sad & I still remember that.

The nice thing about bing old is that you take no crap, verbal or otherwise from anyone, especially strangers. It amazes me that some people can be so rude and a verbal comeback is so in order. Who says you need to be old? You know, this sort of thing never happens to me. I wonder if it is living in the Midwest or some other reason.

No, they really don't smell nearly as bad as formula diapers. I had to quit using the diaper genie when each of my kids switched to formula. The diaper genie just can't contain the stench of a formula poop . Oh, and then when they get to solids, then the fun really begins.

I have no idea, but I had to stop using my before the kids even hit 6 months. Maybe my kids had super poops ;D because the diaper genie just wouldn't contain the stink well enough. It wasn't horrible, but have you ever visited someone's house where the baby's room just smelled "funny". I didn't want to be that person that has a weird, smelly baby's room all the time.

Nuh uh! My nephew's don't stink, so that means nobody's do. You know that all breastfeeding women have exactly the same diet and hormones, right?

Seriously, we're talking about which poop smells worst?Oh it gets better. Once Firechick gets here not only will you be talking about smell but you will be talking about consistency, color, how often Firechick goes. . . I never in a million years though I would spend so much time focused on poo.

(Yes, you probably do because all prospective parents think they won't talk about this.) You just wait, they will teach you in the hospital or give you a brochure on baby BMs & tell you when to know if something is wrong. You also get a worksheet to track dirty diapers. ;D It sounds stupid, but it makes sense if the kid ain't peeing, then something is likely wrong. And if his poop is bloody, then something is wrong. Output will be one of the first signs if something is wrong with a newborn. BTW - newborn poops, the 1st day or 2 - black & sticky with a consistancy like tar. Fun stuff! ETA - I also learned the fun way that white poop is a sign of an allergy or celiacs . You can't imagine the joy of paging a doctor at 8 PM at night to ask him if something is wrong with your kid because he has white poop.

My sil did this. We flew to Florida for the "wedding" and I didn't find out until later that they were already married. I was a little upset...just be honest with people.

That's the main issue here. Clear lack of honesty. Lying to get parents and guests to pay for something. You want to have a party to celebrate an occasion? Fine but tell the truth. I wouldn't have flown to Florida unless I wanted a vacation for an already married couple.
