Well our yard sale was postponed because DS1 managed to fracture his femur during baseball camp Thursday. Thankfully, it was just a spiral fracture and it didn't destabilize, so he didn't require surgery. But we're looking at 6-8 weeks in a full leg cast. No weight bearing whatsoever, so we are carrying him or pushing him in a wheelchair. My mom wants to do the yard sale this weekend, but I just don't know if I am going to be able to participate at this point. The majority of my stuff is priced, so realistically she can just run the sale and give me $$ for what sells (although, that makes me nervous, I am very anal about BEING at the sale for negotiators, etc.). Idk, everything is in "we will play it by ear" mode right now.....

It wasn't a great month savings wise, we had to tap into the E.F. to pay for H's new to him truck to go to the transmission shop. Yup, we haven't even expired the temporary plate and the transmission went out. I had a bad feeling that was a too good to be true truck- but he had his heart set on it. It's looking like we can get a used replacement for about $700. We have a secondary savings that I don't track here that has enough to cover it, so I hope once we do that, we will at least be paying a loan payment on a WORKING truck. Oh Murphy, you just love to play games!

I finally got my house clean, I feel like it's taken me weeks to get it in order. Of course, DS1 started summer break, so I am sure it won't last. We are having our annual yard sale this weekend, so I have been doing last sweeps in every room, to make sure I've pulled out as much as possible to sell. I went through DS2's drawers yesterday. I feel like I do a good job keeping up on this task, but I had quite a bit of stuff pulled out that he no longer fits. Adding it to my total for the year: 22 items. I also cleaned up DS1's drawers. I pulled anything that will still fit him next school year (and is in great shape) out and put it in its own "off limits" drawer for summer. Then I moved all his summer clothes into one drawer so he knows what he can wear. I did pull a few items out that he had outgrown, but they went to the save bin in the basement for DS2 to grow in to!
We also spent last weekend working on cleaning up and organizing the garage. I tried to keep count of what we tossed, but quickly lost count. I will estimate approximately 60 items were tossed or put into the yard sale bins. We still have a lot more work to do out there, but I can finally walk safely in the room!
Total for the year: 540/2,018

Whew! We had such a great vacation, but I've spent the last 2 weeks playing catch up! I am now trying to catch up here (I am back on page 58, so it's going to be a task!)

I am posting my end of month numbers now, since we won't be back from our trip before the month closes! We hit two goals this month. We actually surpassed our $5000 Disney goal- we are currently at $5175.51, but I didn't want to throw off my numbers. We added an extra day to our trip, so we still need $120 to cover the hotel room. We will easily add that before we leave (pay day). This trip is 100% financed in cashed and free money I've earned from apps and a few rewards sites!

Around here raggedy old houses get donated to the fire department. They use them for practice. Yup, same here. Let them run around in there with axes and what not- they do half the demo for you!

I spent approximately 8 hours deep cleaning the house yesterday. It needed it. I felt like I was drowning in cleaning and just couldn't get caught up. So I told H I was just going to bite the bullet and do a whole house clean to help us reset. I managed to do some purging in the process. We replaced all of our kid's bathroom towels, so I bagged up the old ones to donate to the animal shelter. I pulled about 15 items for yard sale and tossed a few broken toys in the garbage. I even meal prepped and cooked all our dinners for the week while last night's dinner was baking! We have a crazy schedule this week with practices, school stuff, so I figured it would help.
Count to date: 453/2,018
Goals for this week: Keep the house clean Paint bathroom trim Clean out the car

I am finally caught up on this thread- I haven't been able to get in my morning computer time for a few days, and I fell behind.
I've managed to come down with another sinus infection of sorts, and I am miserable. I NEVER get sick and this is now the 3rd time this year alone. I am not a fan.
We are anxiously awaiting spring to actually show up in Indiana. We need ONE weekend of decent weather so that we can pull everything out of our garage and get it organized. It will just be easier that way. Otherwise, I feel like we are literally shuffling piles all around the garage trying to sort and organize.
I would also love to start on my basement, but I just haven't been able to get down there (thanks to a very demanding 2 year old cutie).

bankergurl , best of luck!!
Good news! We were able to pay cash for our new RV. Woo hoo for no loan!
Based on this, I'm going to go back and revise my goals for 2018. And, since only racing the car loan will get kind of boring, I may add another chunk of our mortgage to the new race. We're contemplating getting new windows this year, and if we have to finance part of those, that loan would be added to the new race as well.
Happy racing all!
Awesome work on the NO LOAN RV! That makes it even more enjoyable, I am sure!

We had a good savings month in March! We paid off the balance of our Disney Resort (includes lodging, tickets, dining package, and photo package). The remaining money we need to save is just spending, gas, extra food expenses, etc. We leave on April 27th and it can't come soon enough!

H finally went through his clothes last night- he folded and organized all his drawers. He only purged 4 items, but I'll take it. At least everything is orderly now. I purged 10 items of clothing from DS1's dresser, as well as 4 broken toys from his toy box. I pulled out 15 toys for the yard sale pile. Total purged this weekend= 33 Yearly count to date: 423/2,018
This week's goals:
Order laundry hampers for new laundry room Order sink Build counter and sink base Remove wall sconces and decide what to do about the old wall (it has a cut out for the old medicine cabinet and tile backsplash from old bath vanity) Paint bathroom Compile list of potential vendors for our farmers market initiative File paperwork away End of month financial counts/updates

True to form, nothing goes as planned on my goals for the year lol.
The goal for Race#2 (our auto loan) for 2018 was to have it under 10k. We were definitely on track to do this.....until H decided he wanted to buy a truck. In all fairness, he's been looking for awhile and we've been a single car household since 2009ish. He has a work van but it's not a functional 'taxi' for the kids. Plus, with all of our trips to the hardware store and lumberyards, we've had to borrow trucks more times than I care to remember. He got a great deal on a 2007 Dodge Ram- it was owned by an elderly gentleman that really only used it to pick up his grandkids from school. He had another truck for driving as well. So, it's in great shape, the price was good- it was just too good to pass up. Our bank just rewrote our auto loan on the Acadia and extended the length/amount. So, I guess Race#2 is unofficially starting over... which I hate, but it is what it is.
Race #2 RESTARTING
Interest Rate Original Balance Last Update This Update Difference
Auto Loan 4.23% $22,579.27 $22,579.27
Total Paid in 2018: 0 Total Paid Overall: 0
NikiZ628 (2): 3/26/18 $22,579.27 (3/26/18 $22,579.27 pg. 172)
My new goal for 2018 will be to get this loan under 20k.... The truck added $8500 onto the old loan balance (the truck was 7100, the extra covers taxes/tires/plates). I would love to have $8500 of principle paid off very quickly.

Goals for the week: 1. Pick out and order PTO shirts for fundraiser night2. Workout 5 days this week (I need to get myself back to the top of my priority list)---- I hit 3 of 5, so I will call that a win! 3. Clean up/Organize DS2's closet4. Work on 2 shelves in the basement (sorting/purging/etc) 5. Figure out scrapping 2 broken washing machines and a roll of chainlink fence 6. Drop off donations 7. Install the new subfloor in old bathroom8. Order flooring for old bathroom 9. Install new electrical in old bathroom Chugging right along. H says we SHOULD be able to install our new washer and dryer in the remodeled bath/laundry by the end of the weekend! JOY! I haven't had a washer and dryer since the beginning of December! Crossing everything that his estimation is correct!

Also remember: Your house didn’t get that way in a day or a week or a month. It won’t be de cluttered in a day, a week, a month. Happy Friday! Wise words.

Adding a new race:
Race#3 | Interest | Starting Balance | Current Balance | Difference | Citi Best Buy CC | 0% (18months) | $1,534.92 | $1,534.92 | 0 |
NikiZ628(3): 3/14/2018 $1,534.92 (3/14/18 $1,534.92, WIRR171)
We ended up purchasing our new washer and dryer on a Best Buy Citi card, since it offered 18 months no interest. We will have it paid off way before that, it was just easier than trying to save up the $$ to purchase them when they are needed sooner rather than later.

Today is day 1 of implementing a new "family schedule" in the house. I am hoping that it helps everyone make the most of each day. It's not a down to the minute type schedule, but more of blocks of time throughout the day. Being a SAHM, it's really easy for me to get caught up in "this need done, now this needs done" and then I start to ignore the kids. It may sound terrible, but by scheduling out blocks of time that I just play with the kids, I am hoping that helps me feel more balanced/less mom guilt. Plus, DS1 is getting ready to start his baseball AND soccer season and we are 46 days away from our Disney vacation. Things are about to get very chaotic around here, so any "order" I can maintain will be aces. I am also hoping to try and accomplish my daily cleaning tasks/computer work/workouts in the a.m. between DS1 leaving for school and DS2 waking up for the day. Here's hoping it helps anyway (there is a lot of HOPE in this post ).

NikiZ628 2/26/18 $6,711.95 (Goal $9,300 WIRS1)We had a really good month in the savings department, thanks to our tax return! Total savings went up $1946.09! We had planned to do another no spend month in February, but it just didn't happen. March is in our sights though for a reduced and controlled spend challenge in our house.
