I am no kind of medical Doctor, and I read a lot, probably just enough to be dangerous, and I’ve read a bit about trauma, and I am convinced that is due to PTSD from his time in the military, and how he learned to cope. Again, I, not any kind of medical professional, but I believe that even though his brain was busy trying to cope, his body didn’t have the same luxury because to put it delicately, his stomach told the truth about how stressed he was once we got in the car to leave the hospital, and for a couple hours after we got home.
I have PTSD from years and years of abuse. It manifested itself by stomach disorders and night terrors. I'd wake up screaming. I often spent time out in the country at a friend's house where lots of people used to crash. They were told to NEVER wake me up, as I'd wake up screaming and punching. The night terrors are thankfully gone, but the stomach issues persist. I haven't been whipped or beaten up since I was 25 and I'm 70 now. The PTSD NEVER goes away.

Fudgesicle. DH just put out olives and pickles on the sandwich tray I made. Organic Kalamatas and Feta Stuffed Green Olives. I am the only one that likes olives. He is trying to get on my good side. Which means he noticed I've been somewhat avoidant. I've been irritated with him for the past day or so. I'm pretty sure he hurt my feelings. The problem is the thing he said/did should not have hurt my feelings. At most it should have been an eye roll and a few minutes of irritation. I haven't been able to figure out why it is bothering me more than that though. So I've been slightly avoiding the entire thing until I can sort it out for myself. Ultimately it means I'm going to have to say something now. I'm going to have to go with some version of it's not you, it's me, and I'll just let you know when I figure it out. Because whatever has me twisted isn't the 'thing' but somehow that 'thing' caused the other emotions to bubble up. Clearly, it's not about what he said, but some deeper issues you have. I hope you can figure it out.

He and Kiddo just got back and I could hear them fussing before they even got in the house lol. Mister told me “Kiddo says our last football match he won 3 and I won zero.”. I looked at Kiddo and he started laughing because he knew he was telling a tall tale and that was NOT what happened lol. i don't even know who's playing.

I got a surprise today. When we go to Sam's we let DD go shopping by herself and tell her where to meet us. She likes to buy books there. So hubs and I got our shelf and a few groceries that are much cheaper there. Like cheese slices, $10 less on the package then our local stores and $11 for 3 pound packages of bacon, milk, and potatoes. So we went to the front to meet DD. She said look what I got you mom. She handed me a dozen red roses, I was in shock. I said you got those for me, she said yes for being nice to me. She has offered to buy dinner for us before and sometimes we let her, but to buy something like that just isn't something she has done before. I was in total shock, she paid for them herself after she got one of our Sam's cards. She knows I love red roses. So I told her that we would both share them they were so pretty. She even picked out healthy ones. I almost cried, it just really touched me. I trimmed the stems and put them in one of the beautiful vases, DIL, had gotten me. The cats haven't been bothering the artificial flowers anymore so here is hoping. If not will have to put them up high on the TV cabinet. That made me feel so good, something is changing about her. I can't explain it, it's only little things, but I love any progress she can make. And empathy for others is important. She does care about others. We love her tons. Going down to help hubs. How lovely! Yesterday, I bought flowers for myself because nobody else is going to do it.

They keep saying it's 'unidentified.' How do we know it wasn't friendly aliens wanting to make First Contact? We shouldn't keep shooting shit out of the sky unless we know what it is. If I were an extra-terrestrial being, I'd probably plan on landing in Canada first, too. Will your National Health Plan cover them if they are injured in your air space? Probably.

Of course I have. That being said, the 'Saint" part of it is pretty much ignored up here. It doesn't matter if most of the class is minority....Jewish or Muslim or Hindu. It's just a fun day for everyone.

I can understand not wanted to share Covid with friends at school. But, I think the school systems are sucking all of the joy of going to school. As I child I LOVED participating in the Halloween parades, Christmas holiday celebrations, etc. Kids aren't little adults, so school needs to do something fun from time to time to keep it from being nothing but drudgery. The public elementary school we're supposed to go to is like 70% minority. It's pretty good chance that there's folks that aren't christian. I file that under know better, do better. There's other choices than making kids sit in their seat 7 hours a day. We're fortunate that we can afford private school. The kids don't really have to sit and learn for more than 20 minutes at a time until 4th grade. 4K and 5K is fairly play-based. Even in first and second grade, most of the teachers let the kids have a bit of playtime on Fridays. Plus, the kids have an hour of recess a day in 5K-4th grade.
When we first pivoted to learning at home in March of 20, we could get the peanut's academic work done in about 3 hours a day. She was in 2nd grade.
Valentines are not associated with Christianity here in any way. It's just a day to get cards from your friends. And give cards to your friends. And candy.

I made the mistake of looking at the news and saw the story about the thing shot down over Canada. That sent me right back to my elementary school days with drills and hiding under desks. Supper is served so I'm going to put on jammies and curl up to watch TV with DH for a bit before going to bed. They keep saying it's 'unidentified.' How do we know it wasn't friendly aliens wanting to make First Contact? We shouldn't keep shooting shit out of the sky unless we know what it is.

Montreal has gorgeous neo-Gothic and Byzantime churches everywhere, and I do mean everywhere. It used to be ccalled 'The City of a Thousand Steeples.' Due to lack of parishoners and expensive upkeep, 57 of them have been sold to developers and turned into condos, gyms, places to practice the circus arts, restaurants, bars, etc. We also have lots of convents but nobody want to go to a nunnery anymore. What to do with all these beautiful and historic buildings? We're certainly not going to tear them down. Conversion is the only answer.

I'd like a dog, but I'm too lazy. There's no way I'm getting up at the ass-crack of dawn, to walk it in minus 40 degree temperature.

I haven't seen the 'He gets us" ads, but I do watch American TV and I've seen ads for prayer lines, crosses, bibles, etc. You'll NEVER see that on Canadian TV. We're a bunch of Godless communists, dontcha know?
The very idea that corporations would rather spend money on Superbowl ads instead of feeding the hungry or sheltering the homeless is abhorrent to me.
It is rare to see children in church. It's rare to see ANYBODY in church where I live.

Insert my neighbors. Backyard breeding the crap out of this dog and nobody GAF but me. My mom bred and sold Chartreux cats. She had both the female, and the stud. After breeding 3 litters of kittens, she shut things down. They were beautiful cats, and I really want another one. Breeding animals is not a cheap occupation, done correctly. The cats sold for $500-700 each, and were guaranteed. If you bought one, decide you didn't want it, she’d give you your money back. When she stopped breeding, she sold the stud to a guy in CA. When she sold Ashley, he looked pretty rough, but he threw beautiful kittens. In his pre-stud days, he had a couple of championships under his belt. My mom told the buyer this before she sent him, but the guy still wanted him. She had sent pics beforehand. The guy got him, complained he was pretty rough and wanted his money back. My mom agreed, providing he sent a vets verification that the cat was not used for stud services, nor were any kittens going to carry his pedigree on registration papers. He backed down. Mom sold about 10 kittens, not including the kittens she gave to me and my sister. She got one kitten returned to her, and that was my sister’s kitten because she was afraid that her DH was going to her at the animal shelter. My sister had Penny, her DH had his cat. She came home from work to find that he had dumped his cat, and didn’t trust he wouldn’t do the same to Penny. The super in this building breeds Bengals in his apartment. He loves those cats and takes very good care of them.

Yes, I made a mistake taking these 2 kitties. They cost a small fortune to be boarded, it was over $300 for just little over a week last time. I took Black with me but can't do it with them. She stayed in the motorhome and had no desire to get out. Couldn't do that with these guys. Hubs had said if we travel it's a problem. Never figured he would anyway but now little guy and kids are clear across the country and I don't trust anyone to come in our home and stay while we are gone, so it's a problem. Have spent way to much money so far this month. And after printing out the money spent on our credit card last year that was categorized for us, I was in shock. I told hubs everything should be purchased on it to see where all our money goes. He spent $7000 in gas! Of course, he was working on a house and he drove near 100 miles a week to go see his mom. It really dropped after that. He was going there when it was really expensive. I see everything raising, so we are going to cut Dish I think. He said he can get his news programs on another channel, that is the only reason we have it. We don't watch anything else. It's less than $20 per day, per cat. It's not outrageous.

I was having a relaxing evening. Then I got news that my cousin died, one of my favorite cousins. Now I am sad. He had not been health for some time, but I didn't think he would die now. We are too young. He was 68. He's the one who wanted to be a bum when he grew up. He's the only one of us who succeeded in our childhood dream. He could never hold a job and never had anything. He wanted to move home when he was in his 50's and his parents made him live in a camper in their garage. He could come him to use the bathroom and the Chiefs. Didn't have a car as no money. Graduated high school with honors and flunked out of business school because he spent all night playing cards and drinking beer and sleeping all day. I know this is what he did because he lived in our basement. I'm sorry to hear this. 68 is too young. However, what does this mean? He could come him to use the bathroom and the Chiefs. He could only come in to use the bathroom and the Chiefs? The Chiefs? Is this an American expression I'm unfamiliar with?

Just got a call from my insurance, they denied the pre approval from the heart doc for my medication. Damn, I hate these insurance companies. So I can appeal and I damn well will. Probably just the nurse called it in, now have to jump through hoops. I don't know what full price is but bet its high so have to go through that again.
How can they possibly deny a cardiac medication?

Based on personal experience, I can tell you why girl dogs should be fixed too. When I was a kid, we had a female dog that we'd never fixed, and when she was older, she got an infection in her uterus that nearly killed her. She started bleeding like she had the period from hell, the blood didn't quit, so we took her in to the emergency vet since we didn't have a clue what was wrong. She'd never had puppies, and there were no other dogs in the house. The vet told us THAT's why people neuter their female dogs. If she hadn't gotten a heavy cycle, the infection would've killed her. We didn't know until then that this is a common problem with females. Live & learn. And, she did survive her emergency hysterectomy. Yep....pyometra. That's why my son paid $2,000 to save the life of his girlfriend's cat. "Oh, I'm not going to let her out. She won't get pregnant!' It would have been far cheaper to get the cat fixed to begin with.

Reputable breeding doesn't bother me. I think sometimes we get focused on puppy mills and all the horrors that go along with that trade and then assume anyone who wants a purebred dog is callously ignoring shelter animals. On a personal level I'm an 'adopt don't shop' type of person but I know quite a few people who were raised with and only want specific breeds. If someone can no longer buy a purebred bichon frise then I doubt they're going to decide to adopt a pitbull mix from the Humane Society. I'm not sure that outlawing breeders (and I know that no-one has suggested any such thing on this thread) will make a dent in the number of animals waiting for adoption in shelters. There are rescue groups for just about any breed. People should check those first, before going to a breeder. smallpawsrescue.org/adopt-a-bichon/When I decided I wanted another cat, I only wanted an Oriental. I didn't go to a breeder. I found one that was going back to SPCA. Again. That was my baby boy, Sushi. He's a Tonkinese. Kittens start at $1,000. I got him for free. People decide to adopt without checking the breed's characteristics. They said 'Oh, what a stunning cat! We'll take him!" He was brought back 3 times. I didn't want him going back a 4th time....it's so unfair to the animal, so I gave him a forever hime.

Grrrrr…… We had tickets to a wildlife sanctuary in Hobart, Tasmania which is our next stop. We were supposed to do a wine tour but wine trumps animals, so TD turned in our tickets this morning. The organizer of the tour got informed late last night that they can’t get us back to the boat by 3 pm, after saying that they could. Wine tour got canceled. Luckily, I was able to get our tour tickets back. Whew! Tasmen Sea is crazy, we are really rocking and rolling and everyone is walking around like drunken sailors. Captain says there is a 6-8 meter swell. There are a lot of green people on the ship right now. I like wine, but I would’ve preferred the wildlife. My first, and probably my last, cruise was when it was part of a family reunion, back in 2007. I remember sitting at the table with my family at the Captains dinner or whatever it’s called, and wondering why I felt like I was drunk, even though I hadn’t been drinking. I finally said something, that something was wrong with me, because I was getting concerned that I might fall out of my chair and embarrass myself. I felt just that drunk, and I was so confused, because I knew I hadn’t been drinking. My Uncle told me I felt like that because we were in rough water. Which turned out to be true. It was storming. Thank goodness he knew what it was, because I thought I was losing it, and it hadn’t occurred to me that I might be seasick. Fortunately for me, I didn’t get sick, sick, I just felt like I was drunk. And that’s the only time I felt it. It’s interesting that being on water can make you feel like that. When I lived on the sailboat, I got 'landsick' when I got off the boat. I felt drunk.

Also available are lab grown diamonds Same sparkle no problems with how mined Because lab-grown diamonds are mass produced, they have no resale value. Zero. They're not an investment. The difference in resale value between natural and synthetic diamonds is even greater than the difference in price. While natural diamonds often retain around 50% of their initial value, lab-created diamonds are almost impossible to resell without accepting pennies on the dollar. You lose a massive percentage of its value the moment you make the purchase. www.diamonds.pro/education/lab-grown-diamonds-vs-natural/

That's a gorgeous ring! I'm all for buying vintage or second-hand diamonds, because you're not buying new, and creating a demand for more blood diamonds. I LOVE sterling with marcasite. I had a pair of stunning sterling and marcasite earrings, but lost one when everyone had to be masked. Slipped off when I removed the mask and I never saw it again. Re the brass ring with a glass stone....how could they get away with calling it 14K solid gold?
