NIL's mother sent me a message this morning that her mother died this morning in Kyiv. The war broke her spirit. She was not told her house was gone. No need to upset her any more than she already was. In my mind, the uprooting she was put through to get her to a safer location when she was willing to die in her home, was the beginning of the failure of her health. She is also a victim of this war. RIP Grandma. (I don't know her name. I only know her as Grandma) I'm so sorry!

For some reason, my devices don’t always alert me when I have text messages, even when I’m wearing my Apple Watch. A few hours ago, I texted Mister’s brother and told him that I was sorry for not having told him Happy Birthday earlier, and asked how he was doing today. I know he’s struggling with his Mom’s death, and last night after Mister and I left, Brother had a severe allergic reaction to something and had to go to the ER. His face was so swollen he looked like a caricature of himself. I just saw that he texted me back with an emotional message saying he’ll always remember me checking on him today. Last night when we were working on the obituary, he opened up, talking to me and the girls’ Mom about some of his struggles since his divorce. The girls’ Mom, who is also Mister’s ex wife, asked him if he’s realized yet that there is life after divorce. She wasn’t being funny, she was expressing genuine concern for him. She ended up telling him that if he doesn’t start taking care of himself, she was going to fight him. I told him, that’s the second time today that a woman has threatened to fight you! I’d told him earlier yesterday that he can call me if he needs me, or if he just needs somebody to listen to him, and if I found out he needed somebody and didn’t call me, I was going to fight him, because I’m not afraid to fight a man. He said last night that he is not okay. We both told him that it’s okay to not be okay, the important thing is to try to get to being okay, whether that means reaching out to mental health professionals or talking to the peatsople that love him that he feels he can trust. And we both said we were willing to listen if that’s what he needs. I think I am done rambling for tonight. I should’ve been sleep hours ago Fight him? Like with fists? Baseball bats? I don't understand.

Does it have to be in both official languages? Many dogs here don't speak English. Sadly like me, mine are largely monolingual. They do know non and bon chien We have a couple of radio pranksters who fool a lot of people. They had Sarah Palin believing that she was speaking to Sarkozy on the phone. They fooled a lot of famous people. Anyway.... MONTREAL – It seems some people really believed that Quebec’s language laws are going to the dogs — literally. Several media websites and a number of readers were fooled by a spoof news report, detailed on the CBC Radio satire “This Is That,” about the City of Montreal passing a bylaw that would require dogs to learn French and English commands. But plenty of people were fooled by the faux report, which by Friday afternoon had been shared more than 29,000 times in social media. Many of the people commenting on Facebook were angry, incredulous — and completely oblivious to the fact that the bow-wow bylaw was entirely made up. Some news organizations were also suckered. The story was picked up by New York magazine and the Raw Story website, which treated it seriously. www.macleans.ca/general/scores-suckered-by-radio-stunt-on-quebec-language-law-for-dogs/.

With regards to work clothing, I typically wear jeans at work; however, I can't this time and the weather is too chilly for a dresses. Any suggestions on places to try for business casual clothing for women? I typically go to Kohls; however, it's been hit or miss for me. It doesn't help that I'm petite.
How about a pair of black jeans and a blazer over a nice shirt?

I can understand that. I don't know that we can ever exactly get into the head/mindset of those who commit suicide. I'm always left somewhere between sad/puzzled/angry. I hope their friends and family find peace with the person's death I think if you've been clinically depressed, it is easy to understand. I've been clinically depressed. It's like being in a deep, dark pit where nothing mattered and no light ever shone. I lost 35 pounds from not eating. I just couldn't. I just curled up on the coach in a foetal position and cried. And cried. I feel so bad for exposing my son to that.

What neurotic things does it do? Whining and pacing constantly. If I bring him up on the couch with me he wants to lick my ears. Inside my ears. It's really annoying. He's also already pooped in my aunts house (she had him the first couple hours until I got home) and had the runs when I took him out, so I don't really want him roaming the house.
I locked him up in his crate which he hates so he howled and whined for quite a while, but now he's quiet.
Poor little baby! He must be SO anxious and scared with his people gone.

As a nurse, I've seen a LOT of death. This was different somehow. I'll never forget that sound as long as I live. I can understand that. Nope. Just before all the cops and ambulances showed up, I heard a weird, loud sound. It wasn't a bang or a thump, but it was loud. I never heard a sound like that before. Evidently, it was the sound of a body hitting the concrete from a great height. I'm sorry that you had to experience that. As a nurse, I've seen a LOT of death. This was different somehow. This was on my doorstep. The poor person was lying in the snow, in an orange body bag, for 6 hours. If it was a shooting or a hit and run it would be all over the news. It's not. Therfore, it's a suicide. They never report on suicides. The guy must have jumped from a high floor in the apartment building. Even when it's a jumper in the subway, nobody says anything. "The Orange Line is temporarily shut down for maintenance issues. Take the bus!" Well, he could have slipped and fell on the ice and died from conking his head. That happened a few years back at the company next door to us. Guy fell and either he hit just right or he died of exposure by the time someone happened by. I never did hear the final cause of death. Nope. Just before all the cops and ambulances showed up, I heard a weird, loud sound. It wasn't a bang or a thump, but it was loud. I never heard a sound like that before. On the not going to your dog thing, if they’re saying their dog is friendly then not moving to get the leash is rude. If my dogs get away from me and are moving towards someone, I have to stay still or back away. Stevie and her grandma before her just see me as backup if I move to them. It increased the odds significantly that they would continue moving forwards. Also yelling, throwing stuff at them or kicking just convince them they were correct in their choice of action. Ignoring them or sternly saying bad dog, no, go home works if you must react. That’s why I either have them on leashes or somewhere we won’t run into any one. That makes them sound worse than they are but it keeps them out of trouble. I would rather assume they are going to play deaf then be good Does it have to be in both official languages? Why do I even come here? I had a corpse lying in front of my house and nobody says anything? I'm sorry. I know it should be shocking/surprising. There was another hit and run that happened within a few blocks from our house a couple nights ago. Man and his dog were killed. A year ago, there was another hit and run by our house. That time, a teenager was killed. The year before that, we had a drive by shooting within a few blocks of our house. More folks were killed.
In 2018 or 2019, (I've forgotten now) someone drowned right behind our house. It was when we had our 100 year flood. Car ended up in the "creek" behind our house and the firefighters were walking through our back yard with the tool they use to fish out dead bodies out of water ways. This was on my doorstep. The poor person was lying in the snow, in an orange body bag, for 6 hours. If it was a shooting or a hit and run it would be all over the news. It's not. Therfore, it's a suicide. The cop cars are still here, flashing their red blue red blue red blue lights in my windows. Now they have crime scene tape everywhere. The body is still there. I guess they're waiting for the coroner.

It could have been a suicide. There's a 20 storey building across the street.

The paramedics are in no hurry, so the person must be dead.

There are six cop cars and an ambulance across the street, and what looks like a body under one of those silver blankets.

Mister’s Dad managed to piss off Mister AND his brother today. One minute Brother was trying to diffuse Mister and Dad, a few minutes later, Mister was dragging Brother away from Dad. It’s really out of character for Brother to act like that, even though he and Dad butt heads a lot. Mister is the one known for being a hot head, Mom’s best friend from childhood was just telling me a few days ago how terrible Mister use to be. Brother is the one that prefers to try to talk things out, using logic and reason. So today was really out of character for him. OD, Dad’s niece and his sister have been over there every day since Monday, cleaning the house up. When Mister went over there today, there was dog food all over the kitchen floor. Mister said something to Dad about it, Dad got smart. Mister told him that the women in the family have worked to get the house presentable, it’s not right for him to go right back to messing up all their work. Mister let it go and he and Brother were in the kitchen cleaning the dog food and other mess up. Dad walked through and said “I guess that’s one way to get y’all to do something to help me”, and Mister got mad, because how dare he say that after the last few months of Mister dealing with him and trying to help him. That calmed down, then he said something crazy to Brother, and they got into it. Idk why he keeps antagonizing them by saying crazy stuff and pushing their buttons. Brother hasn’t done as much as Mister has regarding their Dad, but if they both abandon him, it will be really bad for him. They ended up sitting Dad down and having a CTJ talk with him and told him they aren’t going to keep fussing and fighting with him, they are just trying to help him, but he has to stop with all the shenanigans, because they are trying to help him because they love him, they don’t HAVE to do anything for him. He was receptive, him and Brother apologized to each other and hugged, and Dad said he’s going to do better. I don’t believe it for one second, he’s been promising Mister to “do better” several times a week for months now, and the very next day does the same thing he was just apologizing for the day before. And WHYYYYY would you still be picking fights with your children, when you are all grieving your wife of almost 48 years and their Mother, who just died a few days ago? This is the time to be loving on each other, not fussing and fighting. Good Lawd! Wait....he has a DOG? Who was looking after it while he was staying at your house?

Our visit to the aviation museum was surprisingly interesting - incredible, well-displayed aircraft (most of which are still flown) and a fantastic volunteer docent who made 2 hours zip by. The group lunch was ineresting We had two participants who are significantly impaired and use walkers. Our bus had a special lift for them and provides an attendant to assist them entering and exiting the bus. One gentleman, who is also accompanied by his emotional support canine, a Yorkie, sat at the same table as DH and me. I'm not a huge fan of dogs at the table, literally at the table at table height, especially when they are being encouraged to place their head on the table and take table food. But I accept that as the reality of things as he always comes to our lunches. Then a very strong odor of first, urine and then, feces, overwhelmed the table. It was not the dog. And the man overturned his very large glass of iced tea and ice across the table into my just-arrived meal and over the edge of the table onto my lap. Quick action by table mates and folks at the adjacent table finally stopped the icy deluge but I was pretty soggy. An offer to pay my cleaning bill was not forthcoming. I know I'm struggling in part with this because one day I will be the one in a diaper and walker. Yes, but I’m sure you will still have good manners and not have a dog practically on a table you are sharing with other people in a restaurant unless you are sure they don’t mind, and apologize and try to make amends if you spill something on someone. I wouldn't mind a dog at the table at all.

I just got back from the pool. I'm having a glass of wine, and Sushi is beside me, watching polar bears on BBC Earth. I love being in the pool....it's the only time I feel no pain. Sciatica, broken bones, spinal stenosis, arthritis....nothing hurts when I'm in the water.

If I am not mistaken some Democrats go to church and also pray. And? Democrats want gun reform, instead of just offering useless thought and prayers.

Pretending to be active but I am taking far too many breaks to pull that off. I am checking the expiration dates on my canned foods. Only three got tossed but now I have to (a) eat the meal/hearty soups that are nearing their expiration dates in the next few weeks, and (d) replace the tossed and used cans. I really don't like these soups very much but they are my EQ emergency stash which needs no tools (flip tops), can serve as a full meal, and contain liquid. Lastly they even can be eaten cold if need be. That makes them even less appetizing but it would be during an emergency and a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do And just for fun I will have to go hunting around for replacements as my regular grocery store now charges $4.79 for those cans. Maybe some place like Grocery Outlet or Fresh Market will have a more reasonable price without the food being close to the expiration date.

It was a gorgeous day today and I wanted to go swimming. Waited and waited....they ever called me back. Grrrr....I'm goiing to smoke a joint and chill

Brother is pushing something that goes against Dad’s written wishes and the indications of my grandparents’ trust, and that I personally don’t want. Planning for MIL’s bday Thursday, need to clean the guest room/my office for SIL to stay in, with my dad’s death anniversary coming up next week...I don’t want to deal with it, any of it. I still cry when I think about my dad and have trouble being matter of fact about it. I think we all need a picture of Boy, and maybe empress’s kitten. I was going to like this, but decided to say - yes, a pictures of Fur Babies would be great. My own fur babies are just not photogenic. I am sorry for those of you struggling with the losses of family members and the family dynamics surrounding that loss. I also have been feeling some depression lately. My own DH has exhibited some very selfish attitudes of late. What has been pissing me off is his attitude that he can make major financial decisions without even consulting me. I am freaked we don't have enough to retire on, and he is spending freely and telling me not to worry. This isn't my fur baby, but Sushi's doppelganger. Spitting image.

I will say that I have mad respect Rihanna was doing all that while pregnant. I could barely roll my ass out of bed half the time. I worked on a violent psych ward until I was 8.5 months pregnant.
