I went across the street to feed the homeless cats. Someone had put out a big metal container of water, and the water is as black as......my lungs. Raccoons. They wash all their food.

My Aunt and Uncle live on a lake. They’ve lived there almost 30 years. DS sent me pictures of their back yard, the lake is drying up! Their pier no longer sits over water, and about 20 feet past it, there is overgrown vegetation where there use to be water. It’s shocking to see. I wonder what’s causing it. Climate change is causing it.

I went grocery shopping because toilet paper is $3,99 if you're a member. On the way home, a beautiful caramel colored man with dreadlocks stopped me and asked "Do you need any help carrying your bags, ma'am? " Oh, he was gorgeous! If only I was 50 years younger..... So did you let him carry your bags for you? No, they weren't heavy at all.

I slept for nine hours straight through. I would probably still be sleeping if a cat hadn't started screaming for breakfast. It's been really hot here but cooled off some, so I think I went into hibernation mode! I feel really well rested and am ready to tackle the day. Cat woke me up, too. Sitting by my head and staring, with an occasional paw at my head. He was very hungry, even though he had kibble in his bowl. I guess he didn't feel like eating dry kibble.

We are all packed and ready to leave tomorrow morning. I dread the 2 a.m. alarm but that's how it goes. I'm really looking forward to being some place a little cooler
Where would that be? Even the Frozen North isn't cooler. It's brutal here. It's 58 here in Minnesota. It's been well over 100 here for the past week.

They would have tested him at the hospital. I'm with you though, if he did have it, I wouldn't go encouraging Mister to find out. Like you said, the end result would be the same, it would just make him resent his brother more than he already does. Get yourselves tested though before going around a bunch of people at a funeral. It can always be postponed. ETA: I still carry resentment for my uncle that died right after my grandpa did. He was an antivax anti mask POS. He went to my grandparents house every morning to check on them. One day my grandparents came up positive for COVID. Shortly after he tested positive too. They were all in the same hospital at the same time. Grandma was there for a few days. It took grandpa a week to die. Uncle was in the hospital for 5 weeks before he died. I'd give anything to have my grandpa back. He had some medical issues because he was older, but pretty healthy considering his age. Had my stupid ass uncle tested or gotten vaccinated, they might both still be here. And, sadly, I'm hearing all sorts of stupid stuff about the new booster that should be available later this month-the usual crap about it giving the gubmint a way to track me, sterilize me, make me gay etc. Me, I can't wait to get my wide-load rear and DH's skinny butt to the first pharmacy or clinic I can find selling that stuff so we can both get the jab. Selling? The Covid vaccines aren't free?

Sushi had to go back to the vet yesaterday. Bloodwork every month and the MEDS! However, he's been a Very Good Boy over these last 13 years. I owe it to him. He's family.

Nice to see you back Weltschmerz. I missed you Thanks. I just needed a break. The heat has been absolutely brutal up here in the Frozen North. Unbearable. Well over 100 every day with very high humidity.

Although I know nothing about them I am currently obsessed with the Joe Jonas/Sophie Turner divorce. So many different stories. They got married when she was 20 he was 27, she had not lived a lot of life. He was grooming her IMO. But it is coming off like he is the wronged one. I don't even know who those people are.

Sometimes, I feel like I'm typing in invisible ink. I may follow Soup and Stew and take a break from this place.

On another note, I am struggling with what to put on my agenda for tomorrow. Recently I have spent a lot of time both in person and from work Managing my mother's affairs. Since 6/27/23 she made 68 separate donations to various WINRed appeals she received in her e-mail (8 have been refunded and the others - I requested a refund for). I have started going through her e-mail every am and unsubscribing and blocking anything that asks for a contribution a donation or a purchase that is not from a major retailer. Most of the Political donation requests have stopped, but the ones from Donald Trump keep coming. This is very time consuming, and I am behind on my personal stuff (filing, my taxes are not done, and I really should give my house and garage a good cleaning). I also take my Mother to church every Saturday at 4pm. To get there on time, I leave my house about 3:10 pm and after church we go for dinner and then I get back home between 6:30 and 7 pm. If I can't take her, my DS and DB have never made an effort to take her to church. That said, I do feel my DB does a lot for my Mom too. I don't know what to think about DS, She cares, and is involved, her own MIL lives with them and has health issues, so I just kind of feel like it is what it is. So, DS's Son and his wife just had a baby and the baby has a rather serious heart defect. He had a heart surgery last week and will need 2 more heart surgeries in the near future. As an adult he may need a heart transplant. So, her son's inlaws have organized a fundraiser for tomorrow. The drive just to get there is 41 minutes. DH works on Saturday, so I have to go by myself. I really don't feel I have time to go, but don't feel right not attending, so I am going to suck it up and go I guess. I see my SIL also just said "interested". My DN, and his wife who are aunt & uncle to the baby have not indicated they are going but they have one HS student playing tennis, and one Middle school sudent playing football and the training has started for both. I just don't know what to do. My son & his GF are on vacation in TN, DD might be able to go I will see what she says. I would just suck it up and go. Poor little baby.

Going to the pool in a few minutes.
I dropped a large jar of mayo, the lid flew off and there was mayo EVERYWHERE! Then I dropped a large bottle of Lysol when I was trying to refill a small one. I'm dropping everything. I have a lot of cleaning to do do when I get back, and I was planning to make mushroom soup.

So, there's house I irrationally want. It's in awful shape. Like, no stove, kitchen wallpaper from the 70s, missing some cabinet fronts, dubious or no flooring. Its been on the market for 21 days, and they've dropped the price again. It was close to 100K. Now down to 84. It's worth about 30K, if that. And I would like to buy the house for 30K cash, and have that be my project. The house is 2K square feet, so big enough for the kids and/or SOs, when the time comes. And I know we can't even really keep up with our house. We don't have any business getting another.
And I'm tired of not having things I want. Whine, whine. First world problems.
Like my soul wants me to find a house I can be at peace in, and spend a good amount of time there. Is there a listing? Can we see it?

I went to Dollarama becuase I needed some kitchen stuff. Unfortunately, I met the Worst Kids In The World. Screaming, shrieking, running, knocking stuff off the shelves, wrestling in the aisles. 5 of them. from about 6-8 years old. I finally yelled at them when I couldn't get through...'This isn't a park!" A Middle Eastern guy, a father? said "OK, lady." But that's all and it didn't stop. Middle Eastern boys are the worst. They're like demons in a store. However, their parents just smile at them, because treasured boys can do no wrong.

We went to a presentation about 2024 trips offered by the company we went to Alaska with. I'm definitely going to Albuquerque next fall for the Balloon Festival and other good activities including cooking classes in Santa Fe and lots of information on indigenous peoples; DH doesn't want to go because the trip includes leaving at 4 am one morning to see the balloon ascent. Fine, but I'm going even though the single supplement is $700. I'm being a hard ass because there are no trips that don't involve getting up early at some point; our trip next month to Cape Cod means being at the airport by 4:30 a.m. Which means getting up at 2 as he moves very, very slowly. He is also unhappy because our trips don't offer 1st class airfare. I'm not playing his game-he can go or not, but if he goes it is a whine-free zone. I'm not willing to stop traveling yet but he obviously is so he can stay home. You sould go to this. It may be easier/cheaper. www.mtl.org/en/what-to-do/festivals-and-events/international-balloon-festival-saint-jean-sur-richelieu

Well, to be fair, I had to look it up to find out what for. I'd never heard of Yellowknife and literally just heard about a town being evacuated in Poland when they found an unexploded WWII bomb there. We only know about Yellow Knife because we watched Ice Road truckers. Have you heard of Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump? Not a capital city, but I love the name.

I went into a William Sonoma store to see what the big deal is. I get it now. Can't afford much in it but wow what a wet dream of a store for a kitchen fanatic. I could afford a mug. 😁 It'll be my new one for work. My kitchen store is Dollarama.

I am buying some cherry tomatoes. Can't wait to get them home. Pick up is just down the street. I picked a few absolutely perfect tomatoes today, from my little container garden on my balcony. They're about the size of golf balls/ping pong balls, so between regular tomatoes and cherry tomatoes. I'll eat them with a little salt, olive oil and basil, and savour every bite.

Why? Fires, not Bigfoot sightings. Bummer. I know, eh? That would have been so cool.

I'm mad enough to spit! I did everything right. I gave Sushi his meds religeously, twice a day, until his meds ran out last night. Off we go to the vet today. My son took the day off work to chauffeur us. When Sushi was on the cold steel examining table, the vet asked me when he had his last dose. "Last night at midnight" I say. "Oh, we can't do a blood draw today. It has to be within four hours of his last dose." "What? You're kidding, right? How am I supposed to know that? Why don't you tell people" "It's written on the prescription vial." I kept insisting that it's not. The vet said "Look. It's in his computer file. It says 'Must be taken within 4 hours of last dose. That's what the tech put on the label." Well, first of all, there's no such thing as last dose with people. We did T4 tests all the time. We took blood when we had a minute.
Anyway, nothing was done except for traumatizing the poor cat and pissing us off. When I got home, I took a closer look at the vial. All it says was "Give twice a day. Return in three weeks for blood tests." NOTHING about testing within 4 hours of last dose. Nothing.
I'm fit to be tied. I'm furious. Son brought me some magic mushrooms from OKA (Indian land) Cops don't go there.
I won't take them in the mood I'm in. It won't be pleasant.

Speaking of glasses, I think it's time for DH to get a new pair. Last night he told me we didn't have enough dirty dishes to run the dishwasher, and we had PLENTY of dirty dishes, he just missed seeing stuff on the counter. I think we both know, glasses won’t solve that problem. Some people just do not see things like that, or clutter, or dust and dirt, even if their vision is naturally or corrected to 20/20. If they make glasses that work for that kind of condition, please let me know where and how to buy them. I have a “friend” that could use a pair. I'm like that. I just don't see it. I don't see it because it doesn't matter that much to me.
