I'm so sick of all these shootings, but have no idea what to do to stop the crazy. I do know that my fear of crowds has increased 10 fold and all I want to do is stay in the house. Unfortunately that will not stop them and it means that I've given the shooters power over me.

Since you’re not allowed to carry into a church or temple, it’s apparent it’s a place for sitting ducks.

Someone with a semi-automatic gun and a large clip can kill a lot of people before being stopped.

As far as I know members of my church are allowed to carry and I personally know a few that do. Not that it would actually help.

I carried in DH’s temple. He asked and was told no. I didn’t ask so I carried.

My heart goes out to the families of the victims. But since we don't know anything about the perpetrator yet, I want to ask this now: is this a terrorist attack and we'll have to hang his/ herbody high for all to see, or is this just one confused person whom we need to find excuses for so nobody will feel that maybe we do need to put, sensible, gun controls in place? And the answer really depend on the ethnicity of the shooter? Or are we willing to admit that we have a violence problem?

We don’t even know how many have been killed and injured and already someone wants to talk about gun control.
As for me, I’ll keep my Walther PK 380 and my Glock 9mm and my powerful hollow point bullets for protection.

Not sure why the locals keep getting told to pray
Seems to me they need a whole lot more practical help right now.

After two days and nights of local social media posts by a disturbed individual living just blocks from me, culminating today in "how would you feel if I bring a gun to the meeting", I'm personally scared to death. I'm trying desperately not to over react, but I can't fail to recognize that there are many among us sufficiently troubled to commit heinous acts. Sadly but beautifully, our incredible American law system means "Hope you take good care of your 4-year old son" is not actionable whereas "I'm going to hurt your son" is. So "how would you feel if I bring a gun to the meeting" is just an inquiry, not an overt threat. And another neighbor asked, "did you hear about the shooting" and he answered, "yes, watching it right now when you interrupted me". All legal conversation and I totally respect freedom of expression while being terrified.

26 dead. Church congregation approx 50. 26 dead, 24 wounded. Who's left to be the "good guy with a gun"? So sick of that talking point.

Well, that seems to be resolved -> another confused white male, so let us just all pray since there is nothing that can be done about it anyway, right? And before the anti-gun control people start in with "this is not the time" pray tell me when IS the right time? And why do you assume that putting sensible gun controls in place means that people who advocate for that want to come and take your guns away?

Churches have become favorite targets of terrorists. It seems like it dates back forever. Every time something like this happens, it refreshes the memory of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing.

But for the citizen with the rifle, how many more would be dead? OK, I'll play. A max of 24 more people could have been killed. Now how many people would still be alive if the guy didn't show up with a gun or show up at all? 50
I'd rather focus on trying to have fewer incidents than hoping or believing having a gun is going to mitigate the damage. Because basically then your narrative becomes not that these incidents will stop, just that hopefully people with guns will make it less bad. Did you read about the shooting in the Denver Walmart yet?

Since you’re not allowed to carry into a church or temple, it’s apparent it’s a place for sitting ducks. do you think a house of worship is an appropriate place for a weapon? I think I would actually rather see metal detectors at the door over open carry, for any house of worship. but, I don't actually openly worship anywhere, and recognize that my opinion is worth what y'all paid for it. but damn....

Since he ignored Laws Against Murder you really think he's gonna listen to any gun laws? Sure

My deacon is a retired cop. He carries in church. If you're there early, when he's setting up, the holster is blatantly visable. Our priest is sort of new so the Deacon is also our administrator.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results. So, what have we done to change our gun violence problem, whether you blame it on the guns, or mental illness? NOTHING. So, we have to act like adults, and figure out what changes we need to make. And no, not everyone is going to be happy with changes, but right now doing nothing is getting more people killed.
