Forgot Stargate 2001 A Space Odyssy 2010 The Day After (don't remember if it has a different name but it's about a nuclear holocaust and it's aftereffects).

you were close, Anne - It was called "The Day After Tomorrow" - I think it was a global warming disaster that was causing all the havok. The plot was a little corny but the special effects in the movie were amazing.

SL - I must be thinking of another movie then, cause the one I like was about a nuclear holocaust between the Russians and Americans (I think). It went into great detail about the afteraffects of radiation poisoning on the people left after the bombs hit.

You're right - I just looked it up. I remember now that the one I mentioned was a made-for-TV movie that was 6 hours and ran for 3 nights. (Still an amazing film though).

The Day After - starred Jason Robards - is that the one you are thinking of?
I usually love disaster movies, but I actually thought that one was kind of boring.

I love Christmas movies and could watch them all year long.
A Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppet Family Christmas, Elf, The Night They Saved Christmas, A Flinstone Christmas, Flinstone Christmas Carol, Prancer, etc.
I also love While You Were Sleeping, Princess Diaries, Lord of the Rings, Miss Congeniality, Indiana Jones, Star Wars.

Yes! The original was great - Godfather II and III were poor attempts at dragging out the Corleone family saga longer because of the first movie's box-office success, and they failed miserably. The plots weren't nearly as good as the original.

Elf!! I love Elf.
I'm a sucker for all of those Julia Stiles movies. I just watched "The Prince & Me" last weekend, for about the 15th time.

Ok, I read about half the 1st page and I'm not reading more, but I have to ask those that love the Bourne movies, have you read the books?

Dang--just went through 4 pages of posts looking for tips and nobody mentioned the "Godfather" movies--what up with dat? I made the mistake of reading the book first. Ruined the movie for me. But saw that someone listed Imitation of Life (original version) and it reminded me of Madame X with Lana Turner...

But couldn't get into the sequel that much and I love most Robert Ludlum books. But loved the movies.

There are definitely a few actors who are even better with age. George Clooney comes to mind. Richard Gere. Harrison Ford.

NNP, I'm the opposite, the movies suck compared to the books, they just completely ruined it. There wasn't any way they could've improved on it and I know they couldn't include all the details but come on.....

Ok maybe I worded that wrong. The book was great and the movie sucked. Maybe if I had seen the movie first I would have liked it. But noooo I didn't like the movie. For a long time I wouldn't even bother to go to a movie if I had read the book. Am I making sense - I don't think so so NEVER MIND

Ok, yeah you worded that wrong. The only movie I've seen that did the book justice was Misery. And Gone With the Wind, but who else has read that besides me?

I wouldn't go see the Bourne Identity when it came out because of having read the book first. I read the book around 1980 and figured they would screw it up big time. Guess enough time passed though by the time I saw the movie.
Oh and I have read GWTW but not Misery!!

You haven't read Misery??? GWTW is the only book it's taken me more than 2 days to read. I did watch the Bourne Identity when it came out, ticked me off. I wouldn't watch the sequel at all...

The plots weren't nearly as good as the original. I did forget Godfather. Lord knows how many times I've watched it. Godfather II wasn't all that bad. At least it made some sense. I don't see any reason why III was made other than the attempt to make a few more bucks. All copies of that film should be burned. I think I forgot to mention that every year without fail, I will be watching Yankee Doodle Dandy on 4th of July evening, no matter how good the local fireworks may be.

I did and I agree the movies did a great job! I've not read the Bourne books, but DH and I love the movie. I did think of another movie I don't think anybody mentioned: On Golden Pond. I still love that one.

Oooh Me too!!! (Surprise, surprise). Especially the relationship in the movie between the father and daughter (also played by real-life father/daughter Henry & Jane Fonda).
I loved Katherine Hepburn's line: "Norman, you old poop!"

LOL - He was quoting "the kids today".
I loved the scene from Witness where Harrison Ford's dancing with Kelly McGillis in the barn - I remember it any time I hear that song.
