I think it's absolutely hilarious. No bleeding heart has mentioned that Snopes, , , , that poster child of liberalism , , , has confirmed Sheriff Joe's entire approach to the stewardship of Maricopa County, Arizona taxpayer monies while executing his duties in law enforcement. www.snopes.com/politics/crime/arpaio.asp? How is snopes the poster child of liberalism? I'm guessing it is because their mission is to sniff out bullshit, and it just so happens a whole lot of that bullshit comes from the right. Snopes pokes holes in the imaginary world of the far right, so therfore they must be a liberal outlet- got it. I guess you think Politifact is a liberal outlet as well. And Factcheck. And probably history books.

Obviously there is no good time to go to jail. Seasonally speaking however, since Tent city is an outdoor jail facility in the Phoenix area, there is a more pleasant time to be incarcerated. Just like "on the outside" the worst summer months are July, August and September. There is NO air-conditioning whatsoever for the in-mates. It can be very uncomfortable 24/7, and the tents usually have a large fan at one or both ends. The overall mood of everyone seems to be effected by the extreme heat, in-mates and guards alike. As for Mr. Winter, the most uncomfortable months are December, January and February. There is, of course, no heaters for the in-mates, and often no hot water for showers. These winter/summer tough months just make Tent city that much more challenging to endure. The best one can do is be as mentally and physically prepared as possible. tentcitysurvivalguide.com/guide.html~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Tents Jail was begun in 1993 when Sheriff Joe Arpaio was able to obtain some surplus military tents. These tents were set up in an area adjacent to one of the existing Maricopa County Jails in Phoenix, Arizona. Sheriff Arpaio had previously decided that he would not release any inmates due to jail overcrowding, and housing sentenced inmates in the tents seemed a good solution. Funding for the project was minimal, and included the cost for cement necessary for base pads, secure fencing, and electric costs for heating, cooling and lights. tentcityaz.com/~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

How much has Sheriff Joe saved the taxpayer? Sheriff Joe has already cost the taxpayer $43,000,000 in lost lawsuits! Sheriff Joe and Andy Thomas actions have caused another $170,000,000. in pending lawsuits, most of will be lost. So, Just how much has Sheriff Joe saved the taxpayer. This does not include the $99,000,000. in misappropriated funds.

Nuisance lawsuits are a typical tactic of ACLU types who hope to bankrupt those with whom they disagree. If anything like the mistreatment claimed was going on there would be more than sufficient evidence of it ~ hospital/morgue records, etc. The fact that there is not is sufficient to believe that those criticizing the Sheriff are simply trying to impose their beliefs on society through the courts since they don't [as yet] have the support of the people, who have chosen not to believe their lies.

Yep, it's a real nuisance when people die in custody from unnatural causes or plain neglect.

There's a place about 50 miles east of Yuma called Tacna. I worked there one summer. It was all outdoor work, and we slept under a gazebo-like lean-to frame with palm tree fronds for a roof. I have no earthly idea how hot it got, but I learned one thing. The stories you hear about it being boiling hot in the daytime and freezing cold at night is pure baloney.
It's just hot in the daytime, and not so hot at night. But I have seen times when walking out of 110 degree heat into a 90 degree room seems like you walked into an ice box.
Does anybody know why Phoenix got it's name?
