Ever heard the expression "so mad that I could spit nails"? That is my current status - or more like I could drive a nail into someone's head. This weekend is when DD is supposed to travel to PA with sister's husband and my mom to visit my brother sister will meet them there. My mom has gone radio silent, no surprise, but not responding to DD is an issue for me. I will not tell DD to not go - most everything is paid for - but I am worried about the drive. I am sure mom will do her passive aggressive thing and just not speak to DD, which will likely send DD into a spiral. I have no issues with driving up to retrieve DD but if I have to because of some BS I may need bail money. I am used to this from my mom, but I refuse to let her treat my child that way. I'm down to ride! Good I was hoping you'd say that. I'm in too. I'll take on mom. That way no one can claim elder abuse. We'll just be two old broads fighting - and it won't be pretty for mom. I don't hold back when you mess with someone's (mental) health and I will fight dirty if needed

From a bumper sticker around here: Jésus était juif.
But maybe the use of French would make this too difficult for MGT to understand - yet in English the concept itself it too complex for her.

Today I decluttered the last of the corelle dishes. I also weeded the flower bed that is under the front window, coming up the walk to the front door was looking pretty pathetic with weeds. This evening I posted a free fountain on FB. It was a you load, you haul, must take all type of post. My phone has been blowing up, but a young couple is coming to get it tomorrow evening.
OMG!. I never give out my phone number on FB I select one potential recipient and tell them to send me a dm to arrange pickup details. I also tell them NOT to send me a dm unless selected. If they do anyway I will just ignore them. I've had only one person flake on me and not show up as arranged. But I just send them a message that the offer was now off the table and selected someone else. My stuff, my rules

resolution I would have no problem with the owners "nickel and diming" their equity away, as long as THEY are doing the spending. It just is a sad fact that many elderly don't have the resources for their daily expenses. So if they eat up their house and get some comfort from it, fine. But we have way too few protections in place for vulnerable elderly and there are far too many predators out there for this to have an acceptable outcome. This is just the next predatory scheme after the early reverse and mortgages (I have heard they are somewhat better now) and the buy/rent back schemes. Chances are there are more in the works but time will tell.

Thanks, I'm good. You have to wonder how they come up with products like this. And how anyone would think this would be a good idea for them to use. I see a lot of sob stories in the future on finance websites I can definitely see a lot of people using this. We have many senior homeowners in our community who are overwhelmed by medical and home maintenance costs. They can't qualify for a reverse mortgage as their homes are already in poor condition, and they are living off their credit cards. This is the sort of a last-resort thing for them. But you are right that this product is a slippery slope to a bad destination - and we'll be hearing the howls down the road. I believe this is exactly their target group. However, this is also the group that is as a whole the least computer savvy and thus easiest to be hacked and/or scammed out of the little they have left of value. Remember all those elderly people who had to depend on their kids/family, younger neighbors, friends just to get an appointment for that first Covid shot? They are not going to realize they have been hacked until it is too late, or close to it, to rectify the problem. It is not the rich, or even the "comfortable", who are going to be hurt by this. There has to be a better, safer way to get them access to their equity

So I rarely listen to adds on the radio (which I have on all day) but one caught my attention just a moment ago. It was for an Aven card. "Not a credit card but it works like one". What caught my attention was the fact that they said it was " backed" by the equity in your home and it was easy to use! Whatever can go wrong here? Your card gets hacked and someone spends the equity in your home? It is not enough that there are all kind of schemes out there to drain your bank accounts, now they have to be able to basically steal your hone from you as well - all because it is so easy to access your equity when you just have to have that pair of new sandals? SMH Want me to spend/use it for you? 😉 Thanks, I'm good. You have to wonder how they come up with products like this. And how anyone would think this would be a good idea for them to use. If he could get it all done it would be wonderful. This country will be where it should have been all along. Thanks for this comment. It is the important elephant in the room that too many don't see. While I don't agree, that is irrelevant. The question is, "Do enough American voters want that America?" That is what this election will decide. We shouldn't let the character flaws nor Biden's age cloud that important issue. I am just confused about the fact that Biden's age keeps popping up in discussions. Yes, Biden is old but the baggy, saggy, sociopathic orange paint addict is just about as old and he is in far worse shape to boot!

Very little done today - you can probably say nothing. Several years ago my printer cra*pped out. That thing is long since gone. Since then a friend has printed the very few pages I needed printing for me. During the sorting I found 2.5 reams of paper. You get one guess who now has all that paper Oh, and we also took a nice 7.5 mile walk today so, if not for the lunch we had afterwards, I would also have decluttered some calories, but alas

I always defined a porch as on the ground and a deck as raised. I raise you all the word patio And just after I had decided that my covered balcony was a perch. Now I have to incorporate this too. How about perchio?

Definitely a front porch. The roof cantilevers and overs the entire length. We bought the house in 2020, and the access stairs made no sense. The garage is way over at the other end of the house from the access stairs, and there was no walkway from the driveway over to them. Front porch renovated, finished Jan 2024porch garden spring 2024The porch looks great! I'm team definitely a porch and not a deck. 😀 Does that go for balconies too? If so I have a porch But I have no downstairs. I may be friends with my neighbor but I doubt she will take kindly to me taking over her deck

There would be some irony if the judges who decided it was constitutional for a President to kill people, were then killed for deciding that. 🤔 My understanding is they will send it back down to the lower court. Then, I believe there will not be a final ruling in this case until after the election, so that if Biden tried to take advantage of such a ruling, they could turn around and say it is unconstitutional. Meh, there is a couple of months between the election and the inauguration. If Biden should lose (shudder) he has those months left to dispose of the problem, for the good of the country, and he would be fine - doing his duty as the sitting POTUS. Take any criminal case against him to the courts and delay, delay, delay. He is old enough that this should keep him out of prison

I must be the most disorganized person in the world - or I was before I retired (still close to first place now though LOL). Remember those days when back to school meant going to Target and get 10 notebooks/$1? And similar deals at Office Max for notepads, folders, binders, etc.? Well I always stocked up so the kids could just take what they needed. And, like a dope I took their word for it if they said we were running low. I knew they couldn't find anything if it jumped up and bit their nose. So I had a lot of excess. A few years back I gave, what I believed to be, all of that to a friend.
Boy was I ever wrong - today 4 (that is FOUR!) grocery bags full of that stuff was given away through the FB buy nothing group. It is out the door now but really who does something like this?

I just had dinner and now I want (coffee) icecream for desert. I have no coffee icecream or any icecream at all for that matter. So I am eating an apple and a plum and calling it fruit salad.but that doesn't do it. it doesn't do it at all. However, since I am not going to the store this week I see a lot of "fruit salad" in the near future

Cheer up Rip - if the Supreme Court sides with Trump and says it is legal for a President to do anything as long as it is for the good of the country - Biden can have Trump murdered and the Don won’t have any legal troubles - and neither will Biden. No War of the Roses here. Enter the era of the war of the (wo)men in Black - aka the Secret Service. Though the advantage goes to Biden as he, as Commander in Chief, has quite a bit of additional manpower at his disposal.,

huh? within the last month, he has said ON RECORD that he has more than $175M IN CASH. i actually believe him. ergo, he can post his own bond. he does not NEED a middleman. of course, he might be lying. maybe? You do? I have come to believe (possibly erroneously) that tbe way he gets his wealth number is by adding up every penny he ever had, every penny he has right now, every penny he thinks he may possibly receive at any time in the future. Then take that total, add a vanity amount to it and and bingo, bango he is rich, RICH, RICH I tell you. But maybe I should not have attended Trump University? It may have distorted my math skills a wee bit

I missed this earlier. The part of the movie you are talking about was filmed in Cambodia, near the Angkor Wat complex. I forgot which temple complex* this was exactly but they are relatively close to each other. Absolutely worth visiting. But take some electrolyte powder to add to your drinking water. I have never been as hot and sweated as much as I did during the days I spend there! *Ta Prohm and it is within the greater Angkor Wat complex . I seem to remember it was separate. Either way - easily reachable from Siem Reap you didn't miss it. i added it. that's right. Cambodia. i remember now. i will PM you if i get super interested.right now, i am still trying to figure out where i am going to live! LOL! Sure. When you do I'll call in the troops. I have the best, most dedicated, travel agent in the world by virtue of giving birth to him

-Three in the category how many have you been to. I really did enjoy the weak dong while on vacation. - I would like to visit those three again I- it is my understanding that at least Vietnam is a place that companies want to move to - all three countries (the ones in Asia which are relatively close together) are way too hot and humid for me to move to. I have done 10 years in the tropics. That is enough to last me several life times. you're different. i like you. edit: you win, with a score of 7. i realized afterwards that i should have scored MINE a 2. i am pretty interested in VN. ever since i saw that Lara Croft movie. amazing architecture and scenery. and i am a sucker for ancient structures. NastyWoman I had a similar issue with my wedding album with my ex. Imagine my surprise when my two older boys both wanted it! I'd leave it for your sons. If they get rid of it one day, so be it. You can get rid of other Stuff instead, and leave that to them. Welcome back moneysquirrel ! So happy you had a great trip! Unless things change drastically I can not see DS1 wanting that album. DS2 would possibly like to have it. They can do whatever they like and no conflict would be a good thing so I am hanging on for now

My guestroom is slowly re-emerging. Yesterday I got rid of a few more bags (think shopping bags) of craft materials. Today my many, many photo albums are moving back into place and...once again I am kicking the can down the road. I got divorced just a few months shy of 31 years of marriage. So that was a large chunk of my life and as a result I never felt the need to destroy all photos of my ex. With this purge some scrapbooks related to that long ago wedding have ended up in recycling. However, there is a photo album that was gifted to us. No expensive photographer for us. We were barely out of college. The photos are glued into the album (pertinent detail). I really have no problem letting go of the photos of "us". However, there are also many photos of loved ones. Nice photos, happy photos, 50 year old photos come December. Many of these loved ones have since passed on. I can't remove those photos from the album, and I bring myself to throw out the album yet. So back on the shelf it went. This may be an album my kids will have to deal with as the can rolls slowly out of sight after the kick I gave it.

ok. listen. i realize that this is a subtle argument about currencies. it really is. you can look at it a dozen ways, some good and some bad. let's just back up to the 10000 foot view, as a ruducto ad absurdum argument. if having a weak currency is GREAT, then the countries with the weakest currencies should be the BEST countries to be in, right? here are a list of the 10 weakest currencies in the world: Lebanese pound (LBP) Iranian rial (IRR) Vietnamese dong (VND) Sierra Leonean leones (SLE) Laotian kip (LAK) Indonesian rupiah (IDR) Syrian pound (SYP) Uzbekistani sum (UZS) question 1: how many of you have been to any of those countries? question 2: how many of you WANT TO GO to any of those countries? question 3: how many would want to move a business there? question 4: how many aspire to travel, work, or live there? out of thirty two possibilities, i scored a ONE. how about any of you? -Three in the category how many have you been to. I really did enjoy the weak dong while on vacation. - I would like to visit those three again I- it is my understanding that at least Vietnam is a place that companies want to move to - all three countries (the ones in Asia which are relatively close together) are way too hot and humid for me to move to. As usual, facts go right over your head. Were you home schooled by chance? The political climate in Manhattan, NY is very liberal. New York County, NY is very liberal. In New York County, NY 86.4% of the people voted Democrat in the last presidential election, 12.2% voted for the Republican Party, and the remaining 1.4% voted Independent.
In the last Presidential election, New York (Manhattan) county remained overwhelmingly Democratic, 86.4% to 12.2%.
New York (Manhattan) county voted Democratic in every Presidential election since 2000.
And you say he will get a fair trial??
Are you seriously claiming that only repubs are able to follow the law? Maybe that is how you would judge but don't put your political blindness and indifference to truth and wrong doing on others.

Magnesium seems to be the latest trend - reportedly helping with a vast array of health and wellness problems. It always makes me skeptical when I see something with such promises - but also makes me curious and want to try it. I take D3 and Omega3. Omega seems like another one that was the cure-all for awhile. But every time I go off it, my depression seems to ramp up, so I keep returning to it. Magnesium (strangely, NOT potassium like from bananas) was instrumental in getting rid of the severe muscle cramps I got following my surgery. There was a time that they were so severe that I thought I’d lose my mind ( did you know your abs can cramp like a Charley horse?). I take nothing. TD takes melatonin and Vit D for osteopenia. And did you k ow you can get a Charley horse while trying to push an almost 9lb baby out of your body? That was something else I tell you!

Unfortunately, according to a Reuters report, the indictment does not include "a former US president who was a co- conspirator". But maybe because of the co-conspirator designation there still is some hope? If not, well you can't win them all
