Marge falls flat again today.

Thinking she was clever, she got herself in front of the press again and bitched about the Make Ukraine Great Again politicians, including Mike Johnson. She displayed a hat she made up, blue with gold trim, with MUGA on it.

So a liberal leaning news group made up a bunch of the hats and they’re selling them for $45 each, with all profits going to two charities that are working in Ukraine.

While interviewing Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene Wednesday on his far-right War Room podcast, Bannon accused Johnson of having "hate" for Trump's MAGA movement and being part of what he says is a "vast criminal conspiracy" against the ex-president.


"Speaker Johnson needs to answer one basic question," said Bannon. "We know you lied to everybody, you bald-faced lie to everybody to their face on securing the southern border. Bald-faced lie."



"In addition, what is going on with all of this [not] standing up for President Trump about a vast criminal conspiracy going on in the FBI and DOJ ... clearly people in the House are working on it ... How could you possibly fund the DOJ and FBI?"



Bannon went on to "demand" that Johnson be removed from office, asserting that being "prepared to go along with" the alleged conspiracy means "you hate MAGA, you hate the Republican Conference [and] you hate the country."



"You're part of the conspiracy to actually take down Donald J. Trump," Bannon concluded. "Them's the facts."

The answer to the question is in the totality of the powers that the Republicans would be ceding:

The Speaker of the House is responsible for administering the oath of office to the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives, giving Members permission to speak on the House floor, designating Members to serve as Speaker pro tempore, counting and declaring all votes, appointing Members to committees, sending bills to committees, and signing bills and resolutions that pass in the House. The Speaker is also second in line, behind the Vice President, to become President should the President be unable to fulfill his or her duties. link

Giving the chair of all committees to the Democrats is probably the largest reason for a small group of Republicans to not give the Speakership to Jefferies.

Isn't that kinda what we have already?  We'll go ahead and give Johnson the teeny tiny amount of credit he's due for the budget but thanks to McCarthy MTG can now try to force Johnson out which is exactly what she is doing.  That was the whole point of that concession.

And they will keep doing this until they find a big enough /co-conspirator who will give them whatever they want whenever they want.

Supposedly this is what the people who voted for her wanted.  Maybe we should let them get exactly what they wished for.  Unfortunately some people just don't get it until it smacks them right in the face.

The Democrats taking the higher road isn't solving anything which shows how fucked up  our politics have become because it absolutely SHOULD solve all this bullshit.  Maybe it is time for America to get its collective butt spanked.  

I hate saying that but I don't think we're going to reason or logic our way out of this mess.  All empires collapse eventually.  I'd like to collaspe in a way that shakes people up so they realize this shit needs to end and not in the reelection of Donald Trump.   I don't believe saving the Republicans from themselves is going to lead to the former.

The final vote to dismiss of Greene's motion was 359-43 with seven lawmakers voting present. Lawmakers cheered when the tally was read out.

Eleven Republicans and 32 Democrats voted against killing Greene's motion.

The House booed her. It would be nice if this would encourage her to take some time for quiet reflection on the error of her ways, but it will not.

Crazy pants will move to the next outrageous thing she can have a press conference about tomorrow.

Meanwhile, her constituents are hiding out in our safe spaces as a literal shit storm passes through, complete with tornadoes. Not that she cares.

As much as I agree that nothing will change unless people recognize how bad things are, there is a line that if we cross it, the chaos is too much and we can’t find our way back. At this point, I think we can still keep our structure and come back from this. If it falls apart too much, who knows what could happen.

McCarthyism was chaos and a terrible stomping of people’s rights. One party worked all of their voters into a frenzy about an issue that didn’t need to be that huge. A lot of innocent people got hurt. I am hoping this time frame goes into history the same way.
