One of my favorite suits (not sure if it’s against Trump or against the Trump Org) is where Trump purchased a country estate, I think in upstate New York. It had a lot of acres, but was set in an area with a lot of other large estates, and when Trump tried to turn it into a golf course and divide some of it up for giant McMansions, the residents enforced some local zoning roles that prevented him from developing the land. For a while, Trump called it a ‘business’ building, but it was only being used occasionally by Trump family members, and for vacations, not business. Then, Trump found some tax dodge where you could claim that you were not developing your property in order to allow it to remain in the natural state, and claim a tax credit for the money you MIGHT have gotten if you DID develop it. So on paper, they divided up the property into lots of McMansion lots and took millions in tax credit. - on a property that couldn’t be developed due to the local zoning laws.
This is the lawsuit that Eric trump had to testify about during the election (he tried to claim he was too busy to go to the deposition). Tax fraud - isn’t that what got Al Capone?
Next favorite - the mysterious disappearing inauguration fund that Ivanka siphoned by charging enormous Trump Hotel fees to.

yeah, i am super into the inaugural fund one. it is relatively small relative to some of the other graft, but it is also somehow uglier, imo.

#12. Trump election fraud investigation in Georgia enters new phase with grand jury set to be seatedAtlanta (CNN)A criminal investigation into former President Donald Trump's attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia is set to intensify this week, as a grand jury convenes, offering the local district attorney her first shot at seeking subpoenas for records and interviews. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis made her investigative intentions clear with a round of letters to Georgia state officials in February, asking them to preserve documents relevant to election interference as she investigated potential state crimes including the solicitation of election fraud, conspiracy, and racketeering. According to the letters, none of the Georgia officials are targets of the investigation. "What I was doing, as a courtesy to people that I respect very much, is simply putting them on notice that when a grand jury convened, which would be in March, that they could expect to receive subpoenas," Willis told MSNBC in February. Two grand juries are set to convene in Fulton County on Thursday, opening a path for Willis' next phase in her probe. A person familiar with the investigation said they are likely to rely heavily on subpoenas rather than voluntary requests for records and interviews, in part to establish a clear court record of their pursuit of evidence. In the meantime, some officials in Georgia have already hired personal attorneys amid the fallout from Trump's efforts to upend the election results. To me, it’s a perfect example of how fucking greedy that whole clan is. Ivanka could have let the committee rent ballrooms at the normal rate. Maybe do a ten percent discount since it was for a charity. Instead, the jacked the price skyward - which begs the question, why didn’t the committee pick a cheaper venue? Because the Trumps wanted to funnel as much cash into their pockets, that’s why.

The GOP is fighting tooth and nail to get this moved to a grand jury pulled from across the state, instead of trying it just in Fulton County which is Atlanta and very blue.

George Washington University law professor says Trump might have violated 3 different state laws.
Who knew telling the SOS to find you 11,000 more votes would be illegal?

A Trump appointee to the State Dept, Frederico Klein, just got arrested by the FBI for beating a police office at the capital attack, among other things.
He was a staff assistant at the State Department at the time of the terrorist attack.
Should we make a separate watch list for political appointees, chums and employees, or will that quickly spin out of control under the weight of all the law breaking?

Manhattan prosecutors intensifying probe into Trump's New York estate: reportManhattan prosecutors are reportedly intensifying their probe into former President Trump’s businesses, in particular his Seven Springs estate in New York. Sources close to the matter told The Wall Street Journal that the Manhattan district attorney’s office has issued new subpoenas in recent weeks to obtain recordings of government meetings related to the Seven Springs estate and the Trump Organization’s unsuccessful attempt to create a luxury subdivision out of the property. In January it was reported that Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. had expanded his probe into the Trump Organization's business dealings to include the Seven Springs estate. At the time, reports indicated that Vance was looking into whether the value of the property of the value had been inflated in order to increase a tax deduction gained from donating 158 acres of the property for conservation. Sources told the Journal that the DA's office had also requested copies of planning board meetings in Bedford, N.Y. which is one of the towns that the Seven Springs estate sits on. The Journal notes that Trump has valued the Seven Springs property at $291 million in 2012 to financial institutions. Inflating the value of assets in order to obtain financial benefits is a state criminal offense, the outlet notes. He couldn’t build on that property - he already tried, and got shot down due to zoning laws. What's *really* at stake in Donald Trump's legal fights
Donald Trump isn't president anymore. So questions about whether he paid his taxes -- and how much he paid -- and how much he knew about the hush money paid during 2016 to two women alleging they had extramarital affairs with him, which he denies, might not seem like they matter as much anymore. But they do. And there's a quote in Jane Mayer's new profile of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., who is conducted an investigation into Trump's finances, that explains why. Here it is, from New York University historian Ruth Ben-Ghiat: "Trumpism isn't just about him. It's a whole way of being in the world. It's about secrecy, domination, trickery, and fraud." That is correct. And said better than I ever could. Complete article here: link

I can’t post (on my phone) but saw on msnbc this am that Cy Vance is talking to the ex wife of the son of Trumps CFO, Allen Weisselburg.
Weisselburg is also the Trump family personal bookkeeper.
The prosecutors have been trying to flip Weisselburg by applying pressure on his kids.
The ex daughter-in-law is unhappy. She married the son in 2004 and then had a messy divorce in 2018. She says Trump gave them an apartment to live in rent free, which could be a problem.
She says she’s going public because of the messy custody fight she’s in right now - she says they will always be able to out resource her in court but she can speak out about what they’ve done.
Hmmm.

That massive investigation into the January terrorist assault on the capital that’s picked up 400 people so far? Hasn’t ruled out also going after Trump.
Add it to the list. Sedition.

Prosecutors on the 'verge of subpoenaing Trump', ex-DOJ official saysFormer President Donald Trump is facing potential 'criminal exposure' in Georgia and two grand juries could be getting close to issuing subpoenas for information, in the latest chapter in Trump's legal woes. Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis is probing Trump's alleged interference in the state's election, where state officials certified Joe Biden's win. The DailyBeast reported two separate grand juries are investigating there, and that the secret proceedings would soon issue subpoenas. Complete article here: link
