I signed nothing to take on debt for my mom or MIL, hubs didn't either. They either signed it or were noted incapable or we signed only as guardians. Did not make us liable for any debts. Be careful signing documents for sick relatives.
I'm going with hubs in the morning, he doesn't ask about things he should, though he is doing better. I think that is how his prostate test year before did not happen or he didn't get the results. He is stubborn about asking things, will say if they want me to know they will ask or tell me. He doesn't seem to realize doctors and such are human and forget things just like we do.
May go to bed soon as we need to be up at 6 or earlier in the morning to go.
When I get home, need to wash DD's hair before we get her teeth cleaned at 2PM so it will be clean and look nice.

Here's my mums, I watered and it rained a bit and I added some fertilizer. They are pretty now, the backside will fill in next year, they are smaller and likely squeeze out the weeds being so dense. I want easy care stuff now.
I'm not sure what to do with landscaping across the front of the house, being gone 2 months in the summer is making a mess. And hubs does everything else but has no interest in caring for that area. And it needs weeded again and now I need to cut back some hostas that are starting to die back.
Have to copy the link again, something not right.

We had a good dinner. A very simple one. I bought 2 large baking potatoes and fixed those. Also picked up green onions, sour creme, bacon bits, the real ones, and shredded cheese. Normally I don't get all the toppings, but finally remembered this time. We ate every bite, sure was good for a change. DD and I split one, it was just the right size. Yummy!
I could make some brownies tonight but think I will skip it. DD and I can only eat so much or it makes us sick. I have found if I get a bit nauseous I can drink water and seems to make it go away.
We pretty much lose our taste for sweets and for meat too a lot of the time. Veggies seem to really fill the bill though.

So they called this morning to get information and give hubs info. Also set up blood work for lab for typing in case they need a transfusion?
Then set up an appt for in the morning for him to talk to someone. Than we got another call for him to come in Friday to talk with the surgeon. I would hate to think what a problem this would be if he was still working. We already have all the pre op paperwork.
I'm asking tomorrow what they found on the scan. Since his ins card was illegible when in town stopped and got copies of a new one. They gave me 2 and even laminated them. I have been trying to register on the site and now matter what I do it says the new password is wrong, they want 12 numbers and characters. I hate this stuff trying to set things up anymore. We probably registered somewhere. I need to dig the paperwork out. Hubs said he doesn't need to register, I need to find out if his coverage is transferable to Washington like mine is. Maybe I can just call for a general question like that and get the info.

They just called hubs today to go over some pre op stuff, set up blood work for type and all.
Now he has another appointment in the morning at 8 to go over what in the morning?? DD has an appointment at 2PM so I should be able to go with him. I'm going to ask as we have no idea why they are having him come in tomorrow. He has pre op orders, time to be there and everything for next Tuesday. Hubs said if there was anything wrong they would have told him. This was just information about the surgery, so I don't know.
Maybe that is what the appointment is in the morning?
Ok, have to go to town to sign insurance papers cancelling ins for the post office.

Hubs tires weren't as much as he thought. So used $500 in rewards from our credit card and paid the other $599, so that is done for quite some time again.

I got the windows washed inside and out in my car. For some reason that's like me dusting, not something I like to do. I never think to clean the 2 big ones in the roof but did today, have no idea the last time they were cleaned inside. It's all sparkly and clean for awhile as I also ran it through the carwash in the city. If it gets 57 tomorrow going to wash the windows across the front of the house. Hubs sprays bug killer and its all down the windows and looks awful.
We had tamales for dinner. I get them at Sam's and they are big ones, we all like them. DD only ate half, hubs two, and me one and a half. I didn't have salad that was enough. I had frozen some cherry turnovers I bought the other day and thawed them. Hubs and DD will have some, I might eat one.
For some reason today everytime I sit down Smoke curls up and goes to sleep on my lap, Mr Velcro cat today.
All our beds now have clean linens. Going to have to order DD new pillows hers are really getting stained bad, it happened before I got covers on them but now the covers are stained too. It's time. I have a terrible time finding pillows we like. I will try Pennys and Lands End, I think LE's are on sale right now.
Last night my ankle, tonight my left wrist and lower arm is aching pretty badly. No idea why. The other was intense pain, this is just aching.

Hubs went to the city to get some bolts, he is fixing shackles on the trailer for the boat we are taking to son next spring.
He is also filling up with fuel in all our gas cans. I'm going to have hubs move the generator into the garage in case we could lose power over the next two months while he is down. I can't move it from the far garage to this one, too heavy for me to load on the trailer. And we need it for fridge, freezer, and heaters.
He is turning the water off at the trailer as soon as I clean the bathroom there. That way we won't have to worry about it when gone and won't need as much heat in it. I want to turn the fridge off too.
I need to do some weeding too in my far roses bushes but don't know if I will get it done or not. I'm thinking of parking my small mower and trailer in my garage so I can load trash directly on it to take to the dumpster. Hubs takes it out for me now. I am not the woman I used to be, strong but not like i used to be for sure.
Oh and I need to stock up on softener salts and cat litter. Stuff that is kind of heavy.

Hubs and I are both in a great mood this morning. I got up really late, almost 11 but slept very well. And hubs got to listen to all his news shows, so tht was good for both of us.
But than I got up and jumped into gear, fed DD. Loaded clothes in dryer and washer. Put our dirty breakfast dishes in with the rest and am running dishwasher, stripped our beds. I did DD's yesterdays, blankets and all. I also need to reload our pill boxes.
Now I started watching a movie while I'm waiting on the dryer so I can wash the sheets next. I'm watching a show called Awareness, its a sci fi and looks pretty neat. It's about a boy that has special powers. I'm going to wash my car windows inside. Have to turn my inflated dragon around, the wind must have loosened one of the spikes. I did't get the mail yesterday so need to go out and get it. I have makeup base delivered from Merle Norman.
I brushed Tigger this morning, when I first started doing it he didn't like it, now he loves it. I did it on the dirty sheets since I have to wash them anyway to contain loose hair. He is so big I don't think he can get himself all over. Thankfully he is a short hair. he went in and curled up on his cat post bed and went to sleep. Smokey was loving on hubs for a bit, they both like him now since he cared for them. More harmony in the house now. Smoke doesn't try and scratch hubs all the time like he used to, but if he does occasionally hubs says he is just playing and messes with him. So I guess it was a good thing he cared for them for 2 months. And though hubs doesn't admit it you can tell he cares for them just the way he does things for them and worries about them having food they like and things like that. I love him for it.
It is 54 out this morning, we have the furnace on 75, it isn't running much but comfy and warm in here. We got the inspection report on the house we sold. Only call outs are paint on a trim piece on the storage building and around a window. Some of those reports are silly. Of course all the systems are good, roof, siding and everything so not much of anything they could have found and that's good on a 1930's house. They valued it at $83k. I wanted to price it at $79,900 so I was closer than the realtor, I have to watch them. They try to under value them to sell them fast. I always have them ask more than they want to here and get it.
I need to start using my treadmill and other exercise equipment in the basement this winter. I say that each time and don't but at my age now sitting all winter I may not be able to bring myself back in the spring. I need to keep myself fit from now on as being this old I don't want to become feeble. If I just climb up and down the stairs several times a day that will help my thighs to be strong and my calves and that's sure a good thing.
Ok, back to the laundry.
Hubs surgery is the 24th. I hope we have news from his scan tomorrow.

The barometer has been going crazy, first it was going straight down, now its going straight up. My right foot and ankle is killing me. I took 2 acetaminophen and they have not kicked in yet. DD was complaining of a headache too so had to give her meds. I hate taking all this stuff.
I did get my kitchen floor and hallway mopped and I cleaned the car out. Need to wash the windows inside of it though.
Hubs bought a neat little sweeper from Porter Cable. Then a whole box of different kinds of suction ends for it. I had never seen some of them before. I was able to clean all the dash items, around and under everything. He said the little canister sweeper was $40 or $50 and the attachments about the same. It's well worth the money. Thinking of getting son and DIL one for Christmas. It will be handy to clean a lot of things like window ledges and around those in the little grooves.
I'm going to sweep the garage out really good and mop out there before it gets really cold. I usually pull everything out but the freezer and scrub it good but didn't this summer.

Not doing much today.
Cleaning my car out-swept it and the trunk, next is wiping everything down
Cleaning the bathroom at the trailer-not doing today
And mopping the kitchen I didn't do yesterday-going to mop while in and warming up
Of course the usual, never ending LAUNDRY.
And kitty, Smokey plopped on my lap for a nap, so will be here a bit
Hope I do all that! Shall see. Right now I'm listening to the news and doing crossword puzzles.

I ran into that. I used my vacation for years getting and taking care of moms health care needs on my two week vacation. I too spent too much time on the phone taking care of stuff. What sunk me was when DD needed emergency surgery for diverticulitis and it had gone septic. Mom was with us. I had gone to another job and been there just long enough to get family leave and they denied it. I ended up walking out. I could have fought but once they get your number they would keep beating till you leave or that's what I found. I could not leave DD alone bandaged from below her pelvis up to her rib cage. She was picking at the bandages and stitching. And mom was there and wouldn't even heat herself lunch in the microwave I had prepared.
I had a friends daughter I recommended there, she is brilliant and they fired her because like me she spoke up about things. She finished her education and has a degree in mathematics and chemical engineering. She now works for one of the huge companies. They just didn't want people who could think. I didn't miss any work other than the vacation and sick time I had, but that didn't matter. They were out of the north and once they started bashing unions I spoke up and I'm sure they would have eventually fired me too.
Also at that time hubs was working in the eastern US and we had rentals. I had a 2 acre lawn to mow at our house and 3 at another. That's when I almost lost my mind. And hubs said you just let things get to you. I swear I don't know how we stayed married some times.
So I ended up with low SS because I had to stop my career and do care at home. We finally had to put mom in assisted living but it was almost another year before we did. That was just before we got the trailer put in close to the house for her to use and she refused. I had to do it, just could not deal with all the drama in my home. And coming home and finding her in the bathtub one day and thinking she had been in it most of the day because she could not figure out how to get out did not help. I showed her how to lay a towel in it and bend her knees to stand up. She said I wonder why I couldn't figure that out? My time line is off on a lot of these, they are likely out of order, but its been so long ago and I was so stressed, I don't know.
I survived that part of my life and I pray I never do this to my family. Only good part is DIL doesn't work, BUT I still do not want to be a burden to them. She has her own mom and dad she will not be able to care for.
I do feel so sorry of those here trying to do a job, trying to care for immediate and distant family. They make it almost impossible for us.

We are finally getting some rain. .38 inches earlier and I hear it raining again, we sure need it for the land, but the farmers don't need it while getting crops out.

I may have said this already, but I checked with Aetna and I can carry my Aetna plan F to Washington state, same coverage. I wonder if the cost is the same though.
I think hubs can take his United Healthcare too plan G, will try and get numbers tomorrow to inquire . His card is so faded I can't read it so have to pull out the files and look tomorrow. Can't even see his policy number.
DD is the only one we have to find out about.

Hubs is home and going to mow the lawn.
We are all nibbling. I ate green beans, love those things. And I'm having my second cup of coffee.
DD ate more sushi and hubs heated a whole plate of croissants and ate those for lunch. We are all happy with our choices.
You know its dry when my hubs put on googles to mow. He likely should have used my respirator too, its bad out there.
I had the robot running but its charging again, it dumped twice but has not done the kitchen so I sat it in there. It's charged up again.
Other than laundry and mopping my kitchen later, not doing a whole bunch today. We are having salad and raviolis with spinach and ricotta cheese for dinner tonight. The cats were rough housing last night and broke another glass candle stick, they have now wiped out the pair. Something else I don't have to worry about moving I guess.
Hubs and I have noticed that new houses up around Olympia are cheaper than resales. However, I told son they are practically on top of each other so we wouldn't like that. And I don't think my kitties would survive that. They have freedom to roam here and noone or nothing to bother them. Going to be a hard adjustment if they go outside up there unless we get in just the right place.

I am waiting for hubs to get home from his PMSA Pet scan. I didn't go to this one, he didn't think it was necessary. And my understanding is he will get info on Monday, I hope he is right about that. And I hope its not in his bones, we will know very soon. I know no matter which way this goes it will change our lives significantly and I'm not sure either of us is totally prepared for it.
He said next week is going to try and get everything done he can to winterize things. Getting old is traumatic. But at least we have made it this far and is a lot longer that many have been able to live, so for that I'm grateful.
My big kitty came up to lie on my lap and purr. And I have talked to son today.

I want to get family pictures done for Christmas. I finally got my folks to do it and dad didn't live that many more years.
I want to do the same for us, I have wanted to for several years. Now I'm worried it still hasn't been done.
Reading tonight, a book called Fault Lines Upheaval by Harley Tate. I like his apocalypse books, but several other authors too.
Yes, I should be doing a lot of other things beside this.

It is warm here and very very dry. I watered half my landscaping today and will do the rest tomorrow. Don't want to lose my shrubs. We haven't even had a frost yet.
Made sure the house was shut up tight, the farmers are combining all around us and what's in the air is unbelievable. I have a really bad headache and I'm sure its all the debris in the air.
Hope your weather is better.

I feel for Israel but I also feel for the people of Gaza, not Hamas. But this has been coming for 60 years. You cram people into a tiny area, then deprive them of means to a living, limit their food, their electric and everything.
I hear today in Gaza annual income was $1000 a year while in Israel $53,000 a year. That Hamas bigshots are living in Qatar in million dollar homes and watching this happen. They have been given billions to help the people of Gaza and they have used it for weapons.
Both sides are wrong, Israel taking the little land they had and the world not making sure they had a state so it was due to explode. 2 million people crammed in a tiny area that is shrinking because their land is being chipped away at.
I feel like I'm watching people being squeezed until they can kill them all. Neither side is right. But you can also see the reason why its happening.
I feel so sorry for the people of Israel, but I also feel so sorry for the people of Gaza with no where to go. Something needs to be done, I think that the whole area could implode if this is not stopped.
Just beyond sad for all there except the leaders, I have no sympathy for either side.

A couple doc appts for DD and we are done for the year!! Every 6 months or so we are slammed. I'm out of the donut hole so got 2 months of ozempic for $133!!. Yah!!! Rah!! The endoc doc is wanting us to stay on it for the good it does for our hearts, but the stuff is so darn expensive. But we only take .5mg. I'm going to try and get them filled again before month end and same with my cholesterol med and premarin, they are my 3 expensive ones, the rest are cheap.
They are starting her on a new drug for headaches. A dissolvable tablet taken every other day. Will see if that helps her.
The allergies here have to be awful, likely why I have a splitting headache. I shut the house up tight, they have combined all around us yesterday and today. I'm sure the air here is full of debris as it is super dry and the stuff is just fogging all over. I have medication I can take, but I take so much stuff I try not to take my as needed stuff but infrequently.
Hubs is to have meals heavy on protein, no sugar, low on carbs. So made him a cheeseburger, with Boars Head cheese I looked it up and no sugar. And mustard with no sugar. This morning he had 3 eggs and later cottage cheese. He told me not to buy more cottage cheese so I didn't, than he is looking for cottage cheese, sigh. I thought we had more. Than he can eat what he wants until surgery. He thought he had to have the catheter in for 6 weeks. I will go on surgery day to make sure we get it right. Wonder if I will have to change it or take him to do so?? Going to be rough me having to do everything here for that long, but I will. If I were a bit younger, no issue at all. Now I don't know, but I will still do it.
Son's enrollment date isn't till mid November so not worrying about that so much.
DD has sushi tonight, so far I am eating a salad with asian dressing. I added some cranberries, not bad.

Walk why do you say that? Lack of providers?
Son works for DOD, he is no longer in the military and is looking at various plans to choose from as they can sign up for new ones once a year and enrollment is coming up.
I am really going to have to dig into all this for hubs and I and for DD before we move and don't make a mistake. We have good plans here and are able to get into docs here.
I dropped by DD and mine this afternoon and requested a couple of scrips. She approved and they are ready. We seem to have some really good ones here and are even having another medical building going up at our small town hospital. We have dialysis now, a separate docs office building, well 2 now and its growing.

I will check if that is an HMO, some reason it costs a lot less.
DD had botox injections all over her head today. They said about a week before it helps but she said it felt better to her already, who knows??
The neurologist prescribed her some med, she said it was super expensive and she didn't know if medicaid would pay for it. I don't know what she considers super expensive. But Cigna called just a bit ago and approved it, it was just submitted a few hours ago. These are the kinds of things I have to check in Washington as she has traditional medicaid here. Quite a few of her scrips are very expensive and they are approving brand name, but I'm assuming that is only because there is no generic equivalent.

My son is looking at Kaiser in Washington for insurance. Anyone know if its good? He said right now he is paying over $700 a month for BC BS and still pays a ton for deductible. The premiums are way lower. He is thinking of choosing it this year.

I would look at the oil being used to cook things in. I know there are certain kinds I can't use. For some time I had to quit eating at fast food restaurants. They were using something that gave me the runs 20 minutes after eating and cramps. I still don't know what it was. That's why I started using avocado oil.
There is something wrong with our food now, GMO? Who knows, but I think they are feeding us crap and its killing our stomachs.

We are looking at some of this now, I quit work years ago, didn't retire because of taking care of mom at the time and DD. Also had rentals to work on so did that, hubs worked to age 69 to increase SS, it was well worth while. I took mine at 62, don't do that, the cut is a lot and I have regretted ever since. Hubs tried to get me to wait. But I had been used to having a paycheck and hadn't for several years and just couldn't stand not having one.
But now we are facing hubs situation of prostrate cancer. He had his sonogram for his heart, it is strong. Friday he gets a PMSA done to see if the cancer is in his bones or lymph glands. The biopsy on the tumor had 8 samples take, each was cancerous. The doctor said he didn't think it was in his bones. We will get the results Monday. He is already scheduled for surgery on the 24th. He and I are both 77, he has been pretty healthy, but dementia runs in his moms family. She died from it after 10 years, her sister has it and a brother, her mom had it. and hubs thinks his great grandmother did too so we are concerned about that. So far he is ok.
No cancer of dementia in either side of my family far as I know.
We have a nice sum of money tucked away. And over the next year will be selling another rental and our house, we have already sold 4. From the last 2 we estimate adding another $480k or so to our savings.
We aren't sure what we are going to do yet, likely depends on his diagnosis next week. We have a small place a modular we bought in March in Washington close to our son. I and he at times were going to summer there and I did this summer. We are going to wait and see if we are going to buy another nice house or just live in it. We haven't decided for sure yet. DD and I should be fine if he doesn't make it for long. I do worry about the money going for him if he gets dementia. But I'm not sure what his life expectancy might be. From the SS tables right now its 88 for me and 86 for him. But my dads family is long lived. My aunts lived into their late 90's with some making it to 100.
So right now we are facing just that our mortality. I don't think we will run out of money, as we aren't huge spenders, but who knows Things could change. Oh and I am still taking care of our DD age 52 with Williams syndrone, so soon I will be caring for 2 again. How long that will be I don't know yet, right now for several weeks. We will see after his surgery what they think.
So very up in the air right now.
Night all, doc appts tomorrow, tele med for me and in person for DD. So later all.

Apparently the gas X pill helped. I've been burping and feel better now, it went away. But that is odd, I have gas issues but they don't normally cause me to feel like that.
