MidwesternJD I messed up explaining by putting my trans. For you get 2 oral B pulsar toothburshes for $6 each and 1 crest rinse for $4.50 (skip the toothpaste) That will give you a sub total of $16.50. Hand them your $3 off $15 coupon first and then your man coupons for $2 and $3 from this past Sunday's insert. Your total after coupons will be $8.50 If you have any ECB's from a prior transaction you can use them to lower it even more. You will get back $6 ECB for the toothbrushes and $2.50 for the crest for your shopping next week. hopefully that is better.

Thanks, Beachbum! It is SO much easier for me to coupon when I have a concrete example to start with (plus we need toothbrushes!) ;D

Everyone pictures something completely different when you say that you didn't need the items because you have a stockpile while complaining about the greedy lady in front of you that bought said items. I have a very different definition of stockpiling. For me stockpiling is buying enough of your necessary items that you do not have to purchase them at full price. I like to buy things on steep discount. For example I have three of the deodorants I use in my vanity. That just means that I won't run to the store and buy it full price because I ran out that morning and need it right away. Hoarders are hoarders - they buy and keep far more than they could ever reasonably use. Who knew that I'm a stockpiler? I just assumed I bought 2 of everything when I ran low because I hate to shop.

It was easy this time because that is what I needed too. ;D I needed the toothpaste. After I thought about it, I realized you didn't, so I redid it real quick. BTW you are actually very lucky to get that $3 off $15 coupon from CVS. I have not seen or even heard of someone getting one of them in ages from them.

I agree with Snerdley. If the stuff is for sale and someone wants all of it, so be it! I don't buy this talk about "ethics". Sure you may have been inconvenienced, deal with it. You're imagining rules that don't exist.

I went on Sunday to my neighborhood CVS around 3 in the afternoon and they were cleaned out (should have known), so I tried again yesterday at the CVS by work and here's what I did:
Crest Proheath Mouth rinse x 2 = $9
Oral B Pulsar Toothbrushes x 2 = $12
CVS Green Tag = $1 (hang on any reusable bag and every 4 visits you get $1 back)
Total: $22 - $6 (Oral B Coupons) - $5 (Crest Coupons) - $11 ECBs (from two weeks ago) = $1.08 and got back $11 ECBs for next time.
They did not have any of the Excedrin left, and I wasn't planning on getting any because we still have some at home, but a coworker said she needed some, so I said I would get them if they had them in stock. I also skipped on the toothpaste because we have plenty at home. We go through mouthwash really fast, toothbrushes not so much, but they're useful for guests and when we travel.

Would they not give you a raincheck? And I know someone on here said that a store had to have a certain amount of items if it is listed in the sale paper. Even if it's just 2, they still had to have the items in stock. That has happened here in our town. On Sunday when the sale papers came out, we went to a drug store that opened at 12:00. We got there around 12:30. They were out of 12 pack of drinks. We weren't the only ones there asking about them. Apparently they didn't have any when they opened. You know I was so (immaturely) upset I only left with a rain check for 1 toothbrush. The rest of it I said 'forgetaboutit'. I need to retreat and come up with an alternative plan.

Frugal,
just curious, but did the coupon binder lady have a shopping cart full of stuff? How did you know she cleaned out the shelves?

"....dirty look" in a store i would tell you to mind your own business"
And since humility is not my strong point, there would be an altercation. You are missing the point. Or maybe you just love to start negative interactions. You seem to do this to everyone who has an opinion. I respect yours, you have a problem respecting other's (opinions).

You're imagining rules that don't exist. The 'rules' are called manners and a relationship with your fellow man. Thoughts of others beside yourself. I won't change my 'ethics' because it is the right thing to do. And I DID say I needed to rant.

I would have just asked her "nicely" to put one or two back so I could purchase them.

Frugal did you check for cameras? They might have been filming an episode of Extreme Couponing.

Frugel I agree I was watching the show and thinking not only are these people hoarders they are incredibly rude to empty shelves of things they don't need JUST because it is a good deal. I want a good deal too but I only want the BOGO NOT the whole shelve!!! Stores use to have enforced limits (if something was a good buy mom would give us money and make us go stand in a different line sometimes!!) I think more stores need to think about reasonable limits, NO ONE should be allowed to clear a shelf just because they can!

But she needed those 72 bottles of mustard because they netted her $.50 a piece, and she needed that $36 to buy the items she does need. This is the game all the couponers say you need to play to get your stuff for free. Those of us who just live a minimalist life style think it's ridiculous. But if you play this game, then I don't see how you can criticize somebody doing the exact same thing before you because maybe they don't donate- well maybe they do- and why is that recipient more worthy than the next person in line (which just happened to be the OP this time, but for all the other items she purchased unnecessarily there might have been a person right behind her just as worthy who couldn't get that deal).

Baby's R Us had a really good deal on diaper wipes. Buy one at $10 get one free, it would have been over 400 wipes total.
They cleaned out in the first HOUR and online sold out just as fast. I was not surprised that they cleaned out that is a hell of a deal, what I was surprised about was when I looked at the coupon and realized there was no limit on how many you could get.
I wasn't annoyed at the people who got there before me and cleaned out. I really surprised that the store didn't think things thru and put a limit on the coupon. I doubt a lot of people were as reasonable as DH and I when they found out the wipes were sold out (no rain checks).

I have very conflicted emotions on this, and I think most of them have been covered in some form.
I feel sympathy for the fact that you left empty handed, when you had a well executed plan that you are obviously very proficient at.
At the same time, said sympathy is partly tempered by irritation. As was said, someone else beat you to it. If YOU were the one who got the last one, and someone shot you a dirty look, you would probably have taken a very self-righteous, holier-than-thou, "you snooze you lose" attitude.
Although yes yes, WIRs NEVER take "the last one". Riiiiiiiiight...
Its only going to get worse. The show makes couponing "cool" and those who might never have considered taking the time and effort to figure out deals (because they are sitting on their fat rear ends watching TV) are now motivated to compete against you for the same stock.

Drama, was it 400 wipes/box or 400 wipes total?
I get these from Amazon for $9.79 with Amazon Mom and the Subcribe & Save program:
Pampers ThickCare 7x Wipes, Unscented, 504 Count (Packaging May Vary)
Right now, I have it set for once a month, but I can always increase or cancel anytime.

I can't remember exactly. I know two boxes would have lasted us till Gwen was in college! We buy them in bulk at Sam's and it's pennies per wipe. Right now I am divvying up the box between family members in case of a flood and the bridge is shut down and they have to care for DD till Dh and I can get out of Omaha. I was surprised at the lack of planning by the store. If you are not going to have a limit you should really try to make sure you have enough stock that you are not out the first hour on Friday when your sale lasts clear thru till Monday. Hy-Vee did the same thing with chicken breasts 10 for $10 (sold out in the first couple hours) and I noticed now they have started putting limits on how many you can get.

If it was 400/box, that would have been a great deal!
We used to get ours from Costco, like 1000 wipes/box for however much, but I found with the Amazon deal, it was still cheaper and it was delivered right to our door, free shipping, so even more convenient.

How did the cashier know they were out of stock if she hadn't yet checked out the hoarder?
I am just laughing at this whole thing. This much anger because someone else took the free toothbrushes that you believed you were entitled to? And your wicked, noteworthy retaliation - a dirty look. LOL - that'll learn her good.

What if the person "hoarding" took the excess and donated it? How do you know they didn't?

Yeah man! It probably made her feel even better about herself. Not only did she get the deal, but thanks to her getting there early enough, someone else lost out. This is why I stopped honking at people who cut me off.
