Kate - - PM me with a link to the thread with the scantily clad women, so it can be moved if necessary. J - - PM me with the information on where you move them. (just joking)

my replies in red. I would wish for: * A lot more civility from some of the "boys" in "Market Talk"; I expect debates on the subjects of politics, religion, sexual mores to get pretty heated, but in MARKET TALK
it's hard to get people to be civil *anywhere*, i've noticed.* that people would attack ideas they disagree with instead of a particular person i've said this myself. * that threads started by anyone with the intent of mocking *any* individual poster or group of posters was immediately deleted when they are brought to our attention, it's a possibility.. depends on how bad it gets. * I've seen several people drop the "F" bomb in market talk, most were not "banned" from posting...how bad does it need to get ?? F bombs are allowed. STRINGS of expletives, or expletives directed AT someone, are not.* that a thread featuring scantily clad women was moved to "E.E." ( or the adult area) since it really has no place on the "market talk" board. It's done to be offensive, and it is. ( do you really think this encourages the women on this board to participate in the forum ?) i see j has already requested the link to it. and you are quite right that it does not belong there.
There are people that will never agree on a subject matter. So what? That's what "liberty" is all about. It's interesting and sometimes even informative to read the differing views of others. To ridicule, berate, mock or waste valuable bandwidth board trolling isn't simply disagreeing, it's an attempt to silence opposing viewpoints.

I have updated "member rankings" as follows: Everything up to 'Senior Member' remains unchanged. The class above 'member' is 'contributor'. Contributors are identified by green stars, and are recognized as valued content providers on the board. The highest class is 'representative'. Representatives are identified by blue stars and are recognized as posters whose long-term dedication to the board has made them 'representative' of the community. Most members' titles and/or stars should not be affected by the change. Admin may add or modify rankings at a future date. My concern was that the old (default) rankings, though tongue-in-cheek, were diminutive and more of a punishment than a reward.

Don't my 48,784 posts on the old U.S. boards count for anything? Anything at all?
Could I at least get 25 air miles added to my Delta Airlines account?

Correction in reply #254-I meant to write 48 posts on the old U.S. boards.

I'd love a board that answers food care questions. Ex., can I freeze this?, how long can this be frozen before it goes bad?, can you take it out of the freezer right into the oven? Tess, i may add that down in the section where the recipes are, if there isn't anything like that there already. How about adding the 2 music note icons to the emots? will be done shortly Moonbeam I had an idea for a thread that might be useful, but since it has not been done before I thought it might violate Proboards policy or COC. So I will ask first. For sale by owner. Was thinking real estate, but it could be cars, coins, antiques or collectible. texas, i'll have to look deeper into the Proboards TOS to see.. as well as think about whether this is an area i'd even want to get into.

Can the numbered emotes be assigned a name? Can they then be alphabetized? When passing over one in a post, it use to tell what it meant, can this be done here?
Is there any way to know for what one has been exalted for, without the exalter telling you?
Thanks

Ok, If anyone is listening here are my thoughts - I don't know how much control you guys actually have over the mechanics of the board but on certain forums ( Market Talk - specifically) a few individuals have taken control of the forum and actually control almost all conversation by their overwhelming amount of threads created and their overwhelming posts - My suggestion is that a limit on how many threads an individual can create - My opinion is that one per week would be sufficient. I would also suggest that a weekly limit on the amount of posts that can be made by any individual - I'm not sure of a reasonable amount but certainly 150 posts per week should suffice.
Just a couple of thoughts for your consideration!

I could *try* to rename them but may break them in the process. *the emotes are (loosely) sorted into categories - happy, angry, sad/distressed/ill, confused/unconvinced/sarcastic, "cutesy", etc rather than being alphabetized. *mouse-over descriptions can't be done that i know of. the single 'standard' line has it, but that is due to proboards coding and all the additional ones were added via a hack. * sorry, but there's no way to know who exalted you or why unless someone chooses to do so..

Virginian, it may be possible to implement what you're asking for. I'll take a look at it.

Can we get a Federal Student Loan Forum Board? I have a lot of experience in this field and enjoying assisting people with their student loan issues.

Further, I think limiting people to something like 1 thread started per week will kill this board.

Maybe alternating posting days! If you have an even number of letters in your nic, you post on even numbered days only.

All 'A' posters on the first of the month. All 'B' posters on the second. Etc. Beginning on the 27th-31st of the month(s), no one posts. It will give the world 4 days to have all sorts of current events to happen for the next month's discussions.
And we must use the English alphabet because other languages have more than 26 letters or sounds (which make up their alphabets).

Or should we base it on the phases of the moon. As loony as some of us are, that might be more appropriate.
