::sigh:: My last two cats were old, lazy and placid. They barely moved. This guy is young and full of jumping beans and mischief. In the past 24 hours he broke two lamps and three more plants, chasing flies. He almost hung himself after getting tangled up in his harness, trying to catch a squirrel, and burned himself on the BBQ, trying to pre-emptively steal food. He pulled down the sheers from the bedroom windows and bent the rods. He must have seen a spider. I just went upstairs and found a barbequed, gnawed chicken leg on the duvet, next to the spilled dirt from a knocked-over giant aloe plant. Oh, and he ripped open a bag of Oreos and has been batting the cookies around the house, which I have been stepping on since last night. I think it would have been easier to have another toddler in the house.

ROFL! Welts, I feel your pain! I've had to move anything really valuable out of sight! The meezer is a nightmare!

I think we have figured out WHY Weltz's Meezer was available for adoption ;D By the way, I've fostered over 150 kittens/cats and all that sounds pretty typical for (wild) cat behavior. We no longer have live plants in our house. And we NEVER leave food unattended. ;D

And we NEVER leave food unattended. ----------------- My other cats turned up their noses at people food. You could give them filet mignon or salmon in a crystal dish, and they'd ignore it. It had to be Friskees or nothing. This boy eats everything, including grapes and dill pickles. I'm just not used to it.

That's one thing ours don't do, as a rule. They don't eat people food. Arnie (the tuxedo) had a problem with his urinary tract, so has to eat special food. It's also good for my old guy, Hoover, and both of them love it. Fortunately, they don't want people food so I don't have to refuse it. My previous Meezer, Charlie, ate whatever I ate. He absolutely adored cantaloupe. As soon as one entered the door it was to be immediately cut and served ... to him!

Welcome to the life with insanity Weltz. You have my condolences, and I'm serious. My brothers Siamese cat Nicko used to chase deer off the property.

Welcome to the life with insanity Weltz. You have my condolences, and I'm serious. My brothers Siamese cat Nicko used to chase deer off the property. I don't doubt it. This cat went after my friend's lab/rottie mix, and I used to have a meezer who attacked German Shepherds. She would jump on the back of the dog's neck, where it couldn't get her, and reach around to try to claw at its eyes.

It's a good thing that we all are cat fanciers or we'd be scared to ever get one!
My Tuxy demands tastes of my Chicken McNuggets and french fries, cut up in kibble-size bits. Otherwise, she usually doesn't care what I eat.

He keeps me in stitches, as he's 20 pounds of pure personality. However, his name seems to be gradually changing from an oriental delicacy, Sushi, to a Greek one. PITA.

Well, the fun just never ends at my house. This morning at 04h30, two hours after I went to sleep, my son woke me up, frantic. "Mother! MOTHER!! (he only calls me mother when he's really mad) You left the door closed but not locked. The cat's gone!" Sure enough, he was gone. He knows that if he jumps off the console and hangs, swinging, off the doorknob until it clicks, the door will open. After tearful recriminations about who left the door unlocked, we set out on a search. I threw a housecoat over my sleepwear, donned my slippers and off I went. "Sushi! Sushi!" I prowled the neighbourhood and climbed over fences, calling his name. Nothing. Turns out, people don't take too kindly to disheveled women wandering in their backyards before sunup. Dogs don't, either. Good thing I don't live in a place where I would have gotten myself shot. Finally, my son pulls up in his car. 'Got him! He was just lying under a bush on Avenue Royale, ignoring us." As soon as we had him back in the house, he was screaming his peacock screams to get out again. I don't know what we're going to do. Stupid cat.

Ack, Welts! I've been there! Darned cat is usually sitting where it can see you clearly, and laughing it's head off. Sounds like Sushi needs a cork in his mouth. I've thought about that for the Meezer from hell, believe me.

Glad you got him back. Bad Sushi! Bad Sushi! I suspect I won't have him back for long. This morning I was awakened to the the sound of his rattling and clawing at the screen in the second-floor window, so he could leap out and chase bugs.

"Sushi saved my life last night. I had roasted a turkey, and there were all these stubborn bits on the bottom of the pan. I threw in two cups of water, and set it on the stovetop to boil a bit. I sat down to watch some TV, and somehow nodded off. I woke up to Sushi screaming bloody murder in my ear, and the house was full of roiling, noxious grey smoke. It burned the lungs, and so thick that I couldn't see my hand in front of me. The pan had burned right through and the burner was on fire. I managed to put it out with the fire extinguisher, but Lord only knows what would have happened if the cat didn't wake me up. We just sat outside and looked at the moon while the house aired out. You couldn't go back in there without choking." __________________________________________________________________________________________________
Welts, I've just read this. You know the easiest and safest way to get rid of burnt food on a pan is to soak it in cold water. You use heat to cook so to put it on the stove or soak the pan in hot water is continuing the cooking process, cold water stops the cooking process and the burnt food will lift off nice and easy after a couple of hours.

Cats are fed, mother's fed, I'm fed, and I managed to catch the new decorative vase before the Meezer from Hell brought it down. I guess we can call that a win for the day. Now, all I'm faced with is a dirty kitchen. ;D

mmhmm-- are you out and about by chance.. my brother just died.. sigh.. I remember the old days on long dead boards when people we loved died on us.. not much to say. He was healthy. Took care of his wife in the last 3 or 4 years as she went through endless chemo, radiation, then 3 stem cell transplants...the last one finally took-- so far. He was found dead by the side of the road near his house. God bless us all, and God bless my little brother and only sibling Ricky. My Dad is very old, and in some major pain. I sure hope my Mom and him made peace in some afterlife. I was very angry at her for dumping my brother-- her only son.. enough from me.

Thx. More info coming out now. He was face down in a creek-- last seen on the 8th. Autopsy tomorrow. Does not look right. God bless my little brother. I feel sick in my heart. Real sick. But-- he was HIV+, and that is sure not what killed him. He was right-- he said he would not die of AIDS. I wish I could take back the last 2 weeks-- I avoided his calls because I am stressed out and don't like sharing that.. no excuse. I hope everyone goes and hugs their loved ones right now, or call them, whatever..

Messy, luv-- looks like someone killed my brother. Ohmygodohmygod.. I don't know what to do.. Maybe he just fell in the creek. Unlikely. He was a bear type of mountain man. I guess I should shut up. Don't hardly know people here any more. Not like when my Mom had a stroke and mmhmm kept a vigil with me for the 2 days it took her to finally die... mmhmm-- remember my wonderful stepfather that I adore--he shot himself last year between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Terminal cancer, old military man, was not having any of that.. do you think they are somewhere with my brother.. I hope so.. it would mean the world to my brother to reunite with my Mom. I can't get the pic the cop painted out of my mind-- my little brother face down in a creek for a good while. ohmygod
