I'm so sorry, krickitt. I'm so very, very sorry. You've had so much to bear. While in the long run it makes us strong, that doesn't make it any easier while we're "beefing up". I'll be here most of the day, on and off. Got quite a bit to do, but I'll be here and we'll talk it out.

I just noticed something . . .lots of people I use to know come to this thread. i'll have to check back here once in a while.
I'm busy though, and don't have much time for the internet anymore.
It sounds like a bad thing, but it's a good thing.

Thx, everyone. Good to see old friends here. Cause of death turns out to be drowning and the Sheriff's investigation goes on-- no injuries and only his head was in the water-- shallow water. Life goes on.
I see everyone still has cats here-- I don't for the first time in a while. My kids and I split up 3 months ago, and I took 2 of the dogs with me. Being childless for the first time in 36 years is so very strange. I'm really glad for the company of my little dogs. I'm turning in to my mother...LOL!!! Her dogs were her kids-- I "get" it now.
DOODLE!!!! Great to see you, old friend!! Hope life is treating you well.

Krickitt... I don't know you and do not know whether you are a Believer or not. If no, then, please accept my sincere and heartfelt condolences for what has happened, and my best wishes for you and your family and friends to heal as best you may in the coming weeks and months. If you are a Believer, then, please accept those things that I have already mentioned, and another wish: May the God of Your Understanding grant you the strength to endure what must be endured and to find whatever measure of added peace of mind and spirit that His love might be able to bestow upon you. God bless.

Thank you, Tony. I am a believer, and wonder sometimes if my dysfunctional birth family will meet up again some day or not. Our best bet for that is in God knowing what is in our hearts.
Yeah, mmhmm, I'm okay. You probably remember stories about my brother. I am almost relieved that his suffering is over, which may be a strange thing to say. Strange that when someone you worry about all of the time dies you no longer have to worry about them dying.. we all worried for so many years that the HIV would turn to AIDS, and in the end it did not kill him. Life is so unpredictable. Still his death is weird. In the end it will turn out that somehow his lifestyle killed him, which is the same thing that gave him HIV.. At least he is at peace now.

Yes, krickitt, I do remember your talking about your brother. I, too, am happy he's beyond the suffering. I don't think that's a strange thing to say, at all. It recognizes that he is, indeed, at peace. It's love that allows one to truly do that. Hugs, hon, and hugs to the puppies, too.

mmhmm-- are you out and about by chance.. my brother just died.. sigh.. I remember the old days on long dead boards when people we loved died on us.. not much to say. He was healthy. Took care of his wife in the last 3 or 4 years as she went through endless chemo, radiation, then 3 stem cell transplants...the last one finally took-- so far. He was found dead by the side of the road near his house. God bless us all, and God bless my little brother and only sibling Ricky. My Dad is very old, and in some major pain. I sure hope my Mom and him made peace in some afterlife. I was very angry at her for dumping my brother-- her only son.. enough from me. My condolensces Krickett....

With the high pressure ridge sitting in the center of the US we've had some warm weather since last Sunday. Every day it's been between 105 to 110 degrees. Oddly enough for this area, the humidity has been very low with dew point temperatures running around 30 degrees. Yesterday when we went outside at 6:00 PM (still at 110 deg.) there was a contractor just finishing burying 300 feet of phone cable on our property with a tractor and trencher etc. about 20 feet in from the property line by the road from the ranch next door. I asked him how they got in and they showed me where they took the gate apart. I simply told them to remove the cable and their equipment because they were on private property, so they did. The contracting companies owner came and apologized and said they didn't see anyone and thought it would be OK. The utility easement runs on the other side of the road. I guess they didn't know that. You would think they would check first before laying 300 feet of cable on private property versus going 30/40 feet across the gravel road to the utility easement and junction box.

Had a nasty storm blow through. Took down our power for about two hours, give or take. Now that it's back up, I'll head for bed and hope another one doesn't decide to parade by!

I wish we could get some rain-I would even take a severe storm. Tinderbox dry. Idiots here will be launching rocket fireworks the next few days starting fires.

Can't complain about the rain, Tenn, as we're still pretty darned dry. Also, can't gripe about the service. The co-op got the electricity back up pretty darned quickly, really. They worked through the night to get all customers up and running in our area.

Well, I'm off the the Jazz Festival again. Last week I saw Johnny Clegg the "White Zulu", from South Africa. Wonderful. Today I'm going to see some free shows, including Sidi Touré from Mali. He renounced his royal heritage to become a singer and his family is quite upset. There was a writeup in National Geographic about him. One of the doctors I work with saw him live and said it was a great show. I'm really looking forward to it, as it's my favourite kind of music. Next week, Oliver Tuku Mtukudzi from Zimbabwe is playing, and I'm going to that as well. I'm in heaven!

The show last night was absolutely phenomenal! Sidi Touré touched me where my soul lives. I also caught a great blues band and a very impressive swing band. There were quite a few young people dressed in porkpie hats and old suits, kicking up their heels. They were really good! It was nice to see the resurgence of something old and lots of fun.
