It was requested that there be one thread designated here for just general conversation purposes. As Smart Spending and Market Talk both have such a thing, I see no reason why this board can't as well.
Same old CoC rules apply, of course.

It's not so much being confortable at EE..it's the understanding of, that has some of us leary of venturing there, some very strange types hang out there , makes the ones here on political almost look normal.

I just hope everyone will respect the privilege of having this thread on a political board. I really think it will cut down on thread hijacking, idle chit chat on serious threads, and we may even get to know each other and not fight so much.

Hey- I just messed with my "skins" in the profile page for the first time. I now have the prettiest soft blue with drops of water background. I LOVE it-- soothing and real easy on the eyes. I post for so many hours my eyes are crossing by the time I stop. Great feature!! Why I never did this before is a mystery............

I've posted on several boards similar to EE, Dez. They are fun if you can get to know the posters. But-- even with an intro thread started for me by my friend Mad Dawg, I couldn't break through without what I saw was going to be a battle with mods from the old board, so I passed on EE. This is a good idea, and could even encourage more people to post here.

Happy Sunday, everyone! For those who haven't met me, my online persona is "Molly" and I'm a mid-40s happy housewife and animal rescuer/kitty mom .... I used to be a trial attorney specializing in complex tort and federal civil rights litigation, but now I stay home, play with cats, and "keep the home fires burning" for my wonderful DH who is an active duty military pilot. We live in California, we have no children, and I'm also a moderator over on the Smart Spending forum (come visit!) Sometime this morning, the first of our four foster kittens is getting picked up to go to his new home in San Francisco (about 3.5) hours from here. His new "parents" drove down yesterday to meet him, fell in love with the fuzzy tabby furball, we held him overnight, and they will pick him up and drive him home today. That will leave us with three kittens (Tabitha, Max and Chumley), though the rescue is sending us four more female kittens on Monday or Tuesday ~ so we will be fostering SEVEN fluffy kittens that are 8-10 weeks old! What fun! (We foster for a no-kill California cat sanctuary and rescue called The Cat House on the Kings ... check them out on You Tube and Google!)

Pick away... but I wasn't a criminal attorney. My field of speciality was complex civil litigation, and the defense of federal civil rights lawsuits against our local police department (excessive force, police misconduct, etc.), plus a smattering of employment law ~ not to mention your basic tort lawsuits.

I Molly. Great idea. I'm Krickitt. Live in AZ, divorced, have 5 kids ranging in age between 35-19, 3 granddaughters, share my home with 2 adult children and spouse and toddler of one of them. I pretty much spent a lot of my life raising my kids and not working, but I was a hair stylist for 13 years, in property management for 5 or so...... long stretch with the kids then....then worked in elementary special ed as an aide for a couple of years, drove a school bus for a couple of years, most recently drove a cab for almost 11 years-- which was both scary and a laugh riot!! I raised the kids alone since 2000 with lots of hard work and sketchy child support. I've never been important, really, except in my own little spot on earth. I've been posting on boards for about 6 years, went from msnbc, to msn UK, to Money P&M, to msn TV, now I am here and like it best of all. Right now I have some broken bones, can't walk, and appreciate the boards more than ever!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, there were far too many dead bodies. I investigated all of our officer-involved shootings and in-custody deaths. Too many bodies. Too many coroner's reports. Too many autopsy photos. I'd had enough.

Steff ~ I've been called all of those things, and more. Since I'm a stay-at-home WIFE (and not a stay-at-home MOM) ... many people have come up with all sorts of judgments and criticisms and back-handed jabs at my choice (things like "I could never do that, I'm too motivated and bright, I'd just be bored and frustrated staying home and I wouldn't want to waste my education or be a leech .... but I guess it works for you.") My wonderful DH asked me to quit my job and stay home ~ based on a variety of factors. First and foremost, I was burnt out and stressed out.... and my hours/schedule were such that we never saw each other. (His work schedule can be extreme, even when he's not deployed.) So we crunched numbers, decided to simplify our lives and do without my income, and I quit. It was the best decision I ever made, frankly. Was is a wise FINANCIAL decision? Nope. Was it a wise PERSONAL / SPIRITUAL / HEALTH / LIFESTYLE / MARRIAGE decision? Most definitely.
