no, it isn't. Obama had 8 years, Trump only 4. therefore, the debt per year was 70% higher under Trump. percentages per term were worse as well (that is a fairer way to measure it). Trump had another 4 yrs the debt probably would have decreased. But we will never know. Bottom line is Obama is worse than Trump. I will not vote for Trump this go round. Hopefully he will get knocked out. I'm sure if Biden gets another 4 yrs with all his mental issues he will probably be in an asylum before the end of his term. That is if his health even holds out. Ludicrously, ridiculously, pathetically uninformed. And that is being charitable.

It is also ignorant to believe there are any Mental Asylums in the US anymore. In the US the longest they hold anyone without a court order is about 3 days. Even with a court order they release people pretty quickly.

Your ability to twist facts to suit your conclusion is impressive. I guess you believe that “alternative facts” really are a thing
Trump had 4 years. His record on the debt is worse than Obama’s. That is a fact, no Matt how much you want to spin it. Since we know you have little care for your fellow man, it is not a shock that you think Trump, who does not care one iota about his fellow man, did better than Obama

Even if it were true, I'd have more respect for a president who ended up in an asylum, than one who ended up in prison. What if next time, he really does refuse to leave the White house? Sound much like a dictator to you? He's so full of himself, he can't see, or hear anyone else.

yeah, but he promised us that he would give us a better plan. along with a billion other things. i did way better under Obama. my wealth nearly doubled. We did way better under Trump than Obama. if "we" means you and your family, congratulations. we have already discussed this, and i won't debate it. by the statistics, you stood a better opportunity of losing your job than gaining one, so you were the exception, not the rule. as are anyone you know who did better.

i have explained this before, but i will try again.
i think both men have mental issues- but fairly minor.
the BIGGER issue with Trump is that he sees fit to lie continually to his own benefit. the latest example is him pretty much hating Telemundo, and wanting them out of existence. then he goes on Telemundo and gives a FAWNING interview about how great Latinos are (the same ones he called rapists and murderers) and how beautiful and fantastic Telemundo is. it is complete bullshit, but he can't win without siphoning votes off Biden, and he knows that, so he does it. he does whatever he has to do to get what he wants, without any belief whatsoever in it.
Biden, on the other hand, is a decent man, imo. he believes what he believes for the benefit of others, mostly, and to a lesser degree himself and his family. and sure, he couches things in terms that make them look better for him, and worse for Trump- but that is just politics. i hate it, but i am used to it. and yes, i SINCERELY believe that. if i am wrong, i will come back to the board and say i was. but i have no expectation of doing so.
so, we have a clear choice- a guy who will destroy you, your business, your country- whatever stands in his way to get what he wants, and a guy who is looking out for the best interests of the American people, the rule of law, the constitution, and the standards ethics and practices of the office he holds.
i really do see this that starkly. and it seems like it is getting more stark to me, daily.

Biden's health will likely hold out better than Trump's will. I'm still surprised Trump has not caused himself a massive stroke or heart attack yet. I'm surprised you aren't concerned that Trump keeps shopping a story about Hungary's leader asking Obama to resign. Its a very weird thing. Who the heck cares whether or not a foreign leader wanted a US president to resign? Its not like they are citizens or in charge. Yet Trump thinks its a winning story? Does it work for you?

I agree both men have mental issues and without seeing them in the day to day instead of the campaign trail its hard to know if either has anything more serious than what we have seen. I agree Trump is a mercenary in it only for himself and sometimes for his family. Because he says differently, there are people who actually believe what he is selling. Still. Biden has done his share of pol faux pas, however, like you I believe he comes mostly from a good place.

his very first line was a complete lie. the economic numbers in Trump's first two years were below Obama's in his last two years. the economic numbers in Trump's first two years were also considerably below Carter's first two years. and the economic numbers were FAR BELOW those of the successors to Roosevelt in the 50's. he either has no knowledge of US economics, he is a complete liar, or both. He's a liar. Apparently, he was one of the architects to help steal the election, so he knows for certain Trump did not believe the election was stolen. But like Trump he is more than willing to sell the lie including pretending he does not know he lost. The tough thing for those of us not in a conservative media bubble, we don't realize how well most of the listeners have bought the idea that Trump created a beautiful economy. Fox and others would never ever mention Trump was riding on the improving economy when Obama left office. i was listening to the local FOX News radio affiliate the last couple of days. they keep saying that the economy was "vastly better under Trump than Biden". they trot out a few examples, like the deficit and the price of gas, but they never really get to the meat of the argument, which is not on their side. for example, the reason gas prices cratered under Trump is because demand for fuel fell off a cliff during the pandemic. and the result was that the oil and gas industry cut production. what people don't understand is that when you do that, it is not like turning a faucet off. you let people go, you idle equipment (or in some cases, pull it out of the ground), you curtail or scale back operations, you find other things to do. you don't just REVERSE that immediately. moreover, the economy EXPLODED after COVID. growth was in the stratosphere- it was CHINA AND INDIA LEVEL GROWTH. it was the kind of growth that we have not seen in half a century. it was, ironically, the kind of growth that Trump promised us, and did not deliver. and the result was the result HE would have seen, had he actually done what he said: exploding resource prices because we were caught off guard and could NOT bring production (globally) back to pre-pandemic levels. and again, for i think at least the sixth time, the US is #1 in terms of growth and something like 19th in terms of inflation among developed nations right now. and sure, our deficits are high, but they were higher on a GDP basis under Trump than they are now, and growing at a slower rate. so, although as a deficit hawk, i hate that, at least things are improving. i have no faith that things get any better under Trump or anyone like him. but that is not my main concern. i am most concerned that the access to power for average people will be curtailed.

i got curious so i looked it up. ycharts.com/indicators/us_gas_pricegas price was $2.6/gallon when Covid broke out. it immediately fell below $2/gal. by the time TRUMP LEFT OFFICE, it was $2.50/gallon. that means, in the last year Trump was in office, gas was +20%. keep that number in mind. now, gas is $3.50/gallon. and falling. that is +40%. that is less than 20% per year. so, AGAIN, Biden has done better on average in his first two years that Trump did in his last year. now, the question: do i blame that on Trump? OF...COURSE....NOT a global pandemic made prices artificially low, and the supply chain issues made them artificially high two years later. moreover, it is not like the US is the only country that uses oil. in fact, we don't even use a majority of oil. it is a global commodity and moves due to global demand. this is why i can't even fathom the depth of stupidity necessary for blaming oil prices on a president and his or her policies. the amount of influence, compared to global forces like a pandemic, is MINUSCULE. you could more easily blame a president for the WEATHER. even OPEC, who has vastly more control than the US president, could not stop oil from plummeting during the pandemic.

that is so moored in selfishness and lack of concern for our nation it is despicable.

Like it or not republican or democrat who ever is in office is held responsible it is their policies and leadership that people will praise or condemn when the former mentioned is too high or nice and low. Personally I drive a feul guzzling sub and we have a couple of diesel trucks. We can afford it but the price difference in fill up is more than 5 dollars more like 75 more on the trucks.

H said he's been there 18y now. but our group spent a lot of time at bars and clubs in our 20s before he moved. anyway, we are both Sept '78 kids, as is Mr DeSantis.....who went to Harvard Law while we were tearing up Boston. what did we say during that catch-up? I hope I spilled beer on that asshole back in Faneuil Hall.

PS- oh, and presidents have nothing to do with gas prices. so, if you are voting for a president that will help you keep your gas prices down, you should probably move to Saudi Arabia, where prices are fixed by the government at $0.62/Liter. they have an abortion ban there, as an added bonus.

I am of the opinion that cool or useful is more important than age, race etc. in most cases. As a car enthusiast I like all sorts of cars. Being new or old is less important to me than its cool to me or not. I'm the same with people. Good bad or indifferent, Biden has the position and the funding to be the Dem candidate. Full stop. Trump is likely to be the GOP candidate if things do not change enough b4 primary season. For me, both DeSantis and Trump are clear and present dangers as a GOP nominee. I might not agree with them, but Chris Christie or Nicki Haley being the GOP nominee would be a much better situation IMO.

People do this, but its because too many people are idiots and don't understand cause and effect. Food, gas, home prices are not under control of any President. It is arguably Trump's fault that interest rates are where they are now and the increase was so steep when the Fed was finally allowed to act. (Trump forced the Fed not to affect rates in his attempt to stay in office. He and his advisors knew perceived economy is the only way he could win. Because of him and his ego, lives and businesses were destroyed that wouldn't have been had the rate rise started while he was President. Gas prices are not under Presidential control. Anyone who thinks Trump being in office will effect gas prices to their benefit deserves all the bad karma they have generated by being an idiot. I know that is not at all generous, but there are times, like now that I can not abide the crushing stupidity. Food. The only thing that Trump actively did while President during the pandemic was help force vulnerable workers in meat processing plants to stay at work. He supported letting the rich employers kill more than necessary just so we could have better availibility of pork and chicken in the short term. That's the only "positive". On the negative side he made the office of President a shill for a non American company when he shilled for Goya. I really need to run for Presidential office, if only to inject some reality into the process. Hopefully I could educate some US citizens. Optimist for prez in 2024! I understand the pay is way better than my current job.
