Ate too many cashews when I got home, so I just did some sliced potatoes, onions, and peas in a skillet.

last night was dinner out before a show. I pitched in $30 toward the tab. the table split some nachos, I had a Caesar salad and a tasty locally brewed stout.
tonight will be takeout. haven't decided from where just yet, but I'm not cooking.

I ordered a small antipasta salad and a piece of cheesy garlic bread from a local place. $12 with tip. I wasn't really hungry but I needed to eat.

takeout didn't happen last night, but I just picked up Chinese food on my errands run. large PFR w/bean sprouts, baby bok choy w/garlic, and teriyaki skewers. that, plus the cocktail I enjoyed while I waited for the order, and tip was $51. I'll be eating for a few days with this.

This week: Last night: Leftover party food including pulled pork, beans, and buffalo chicken dip. $0 Tonight: Orange chicken, baby spinach, seasoned broc. $6.60 for 2 servings Tues: Cod, breaded okra, bacon wrapped shrimp. $12.21/2 Wed: Porkloin, veggies. $20.64/4 Thurs: Pizza-DH will buy. $0 Fri: Appetizers. $9.71/2 Sat: BD supper out. $0 Sun: Leftovers? Grill/smoke something? $? Have a tasty week, everyone. We ended up cooking the pork loin last night and had it with a belated lunar New Year/early Valentine's Day/Super Bowl feast. I nibbled on chips and sour cream while doing dishes, listening to the game, and making sides: Egg rolls Pot stickers Long noodles in coconut milk Salads with Romaine in lieu of bok choy Also, for an early Valentine's, Sunday brunch consisted of the remaining two slices of anniversary cake frozen last August, paired with chocolate dessert wine. #YOLO Saturday's birthday supper out included a poke bowl appetizer and crab and lobster stuffed chicken over ziti pasta and a rather spicy green chili sauce. I ate a third that night, just finished another third for lunch, and the rest will be consumed tomorrow. DH ordered the filet which was tasty. My dad called in a gift certificate which covered most of our tab. As usual, we tipped 25%. This week will be a bit different as I am going on staycation soon and refuse to put much effort into food prep, LOL: Mon: Leftover pork loin? $0 Tues: Beef tacos, veggies. $7.50 for 3 servings Wed: Using a coupon for a free personal pizza and some birthday cash, I'll pick up a gluten free pizza for me, stromboli for DH, and a side of fried ravioli to share. $0 Thurs: ? Fri: Take out from? DH will buy. $0 Sat: Caulipower pizza, appetizers. $11/2 Sun: Smoke grill something, veggies. $? Mon-Wed: ?

I have some boneless skinless chicken thighs that need to be cooked. I'm thinking I'll season with Adobo and chop one over a big green salad tonight. something lighter than how I've been eating (badly) lately.

I received a gift card to a Thai place by me so I am going to order a bunch of food and I will have leftovers for multiple days. Than I don't need to worry about forgetting or losing it.

Last night was strip steaks and red potatoes on the charcoal grill.
We had a really cold December and January with a stretch of a couple of weeks where it never got above freezing, so we enjoyed this 76 degree day to the fullest!

I did an afternoon grocery run today for some things I needed for the pups tonight, before my big Walmart grocery stockup run tomorrow. I picked up some artisan burger rolls (on sale!) and think this weekend will be spent largely working through last season's burgers in the freezer. both homemade and not, turkey and black bean. tonight, I might heat up a can of soup, idk. that grocery run also included a sushi roll and I'm still kind of full.

Thursday night we ordered subs from Jersey Mike's.
Friday night we got a family deal pack from Panera.
Sam's Club and grocery shopping are happening Saturday. I was gone for 15 days so we need all the things.

I have a recipe that calls for blanching the frozen stir fry vegetables first. I just take them out of the freezer a few hours before starting the dish.

tonight, I reheated the rest of last night's spinach ravioli in a saute pan. I "loosened" up the cold sauce with some chicken stock from an open carton in the fridge, which made it taste a little weird, but it worked. I'm tired, I'm trying to rally late enough that I won't be crawling the walls at 3am. I can live with sub-par leftovers for a night. lol...
this week, I've got a package of 3 bone-in pork chops and a package of thin sliced turkey breast cutlets (~1lb). I plan to make a big pot of mashed potatoes, since I have two full 5lbs bags of red/yellow potatoes. as long as I don't add garlic/garlic powder, I can share the mashed with the pups. depending on the protein, I will either roast fresh broccoli or toss a Milanese arugula salad. sitting here right now, I'd like to fry cutlets for the turkey and go Milanese there.

We went out for hibachi. I got steak and chicken and DH got steak, shrimp and chicken. Plenty of leftovers for another meal. Me and a friend who joined us were getting all the extra portions. We got 4 appetizer shrimp instead of 2. It was a nice meal out.

last night, I cooked the bone-in pork chops in the oven with the broccoli. a package of 3, I seasoned 2 for myself and used a different pan for the 3rd that I chopped for the pups this morning. I had a couple nasty potatoes as I peeled, so the bag was def previously frozen. whatever, the rest were fine. I've got a huge container of leftovers in the fridge, though. whoo.... tonight, I breaded and fried ~1.25lb of pre-thin-sliced turkey breast cutlets and had a snazzy plate of turkey Milanese with some leftover mashed. I've still got one pork chop and two portions of turkey cutlets, as well as one BSCB that needs to be cooked this week. pork chop (stored w/o bone) can be the protein in a breakfast sandwich, and the turkey can be salad protein, or more Milanese if I feel like mixing more salad. I think the BSCB is going to be chicken Lombardy over some mushroom ravioli I picked up on sale last weekend. just need to grab a bag of baby spinach... sorry for the novel. I've reached the point of hte night where I'm just thinking aloud.......over a keyboard.

A quick drive by as I'm catching up from staycation. I tried not to exert too much energy with food prep during that time. -Last Wednesday I ended up WFH, so I'll use the coupon at a later date. DH brought home Thai food. -Last Thurs: Doctored up Caulipower pizza -Last Fri: DH brought home takeout from the rib place -Last Sat: Snack plate consisting of summer sausage, cheese, almonds, cucumber slices, blueberries and pizza rolls. The latter is the 8-year-old in me, LOL. -Last Sun: DH marinaded a salmon filet in a vodka mixture, then smoked and cooked it in the Traeger. SO good. I made side salads and cooked a few wontons with leftover taco meat filling which were surprisingly tasty. -Mon: Shrimp, baby spinach, and cheese omelets with sliced Romas on the side -Tues: Cod, air fried bacon wrapped asparagus, shrimp cocktail -Wed: Sauteed 4 different veggies and red Argentine shrimp on top of shirataki noodles -Tonight: Appetizers as I didn't have time to put the roast in the slow cooker this morning -Fri: The above referenced beef roast topped with gifted green tomato jam, veggies from the freezer -Sat: Takeout tonight instead of Friday -Sun: Grill/smoke something. Probably deer or bear since it's been in the freezer the longest. Happy weekend when we get there, everyone.

I went with this recipe instead of chicken Lombardy tonight, based on what I had and didn't have in the fridge. I've made it before, but this time it needed more salt. oh well, next time. I've got one more portion left over after tonight. and still two turkey cutlets. I think tomorrow night will be takeout. I still have more protein to bulk cook for the pups before I drop them off on Tuesday night.

I tried to get back into cooking this week. Need to do a veggie heavy store run next week.
We had spaghetti, beef stroganoff, chicken parmesan subs (takeout) and Friday night I made unstuffed bell peppers.
I'm working on cleaning all science experiments out of the fridge and using up the fruits and vegetables in less than prime shape.
The bell peppers went in Friday's dinner. 2 eggs left became macarons. Old egg whites work best for that. A cup of soft blueberries became 15 blueberry muffins for breakfast this weekend. The muffins and stroganoff used up a bunch of sour cream.

another idea forsoft blueberries, if you still have any more - blueberry syrup. in a small saucepan, cover whatever amount of blueberries with water, a squeeze of lemon juice and a little sugar. bring to a rolling boil and let it go for like 15min. let cool and strain out the solids before using. store leftovers in the fridge.

Free dinner for me tonight. I used a gift card from Christmas to get a burrito bowl and chips and queso from a Chipotle type place.

takeout last night was a pepper/onion/mushroom pizza from a local cash-only place. $20 for a large, with plenty of leftovers. tonight, I reheated the leftover chicken and mushroom cream sauce over linguine.
tomorrow, I'm going to use up the last of the container of mushrooms, a tub of grated parmesan cheese and an open carton of chicken broth, and a small package of baby spinach I picked up today (for this) in some risotto in the IP. I'd have done it tonight, but didn't feel like washing out the IP inset pot after cooking some BSCB for the pups.

Left-over chicken noodle soup tonight. I'm prepping Shizi Tou (Lion's Head Meatballs) for dinner tomorrow night since it will be a long day. I love cabbage and this is the only way my DH will eat it. Sounds fancy but super easy to make and reheats well.

Not the healthiest, but Johnsonville bratwurst was marked down at the grocery store, so I boiled some of them and had one.

Regarding blueberries, I made a batch of muffins to trade a neighbor for some venison. A different friend gifted us zucchini and 2 iceberg heads of lettuce, so those will be prevalent in this week's suppers. I'll freeze some shredded zucchini for use in bread at a later date. Last night: Venison bacon cheeseburgers, half bag fried okra, iceberg side salads. $2 for 4 servings, not including the muffin ingredients cost. Tonight: Chicken tenders, sauteed zucchini. $4/3 servings. Tues: Nachos using leftover Doritos and taco meat, topped with shredded iceberg. $2/2 Wed: Cod, shrimp, leftover glazed carrots from the freezer. $9/2 servings Thurs: More freezer leftovers, zucchini. $0 Fri: Take out from? DH buys Sat: Doctored up Caulipower pizza, zucchini fritters. $6/2 servings Sun: Grill/smoke something w/ veggies. $? This month's grocery/HBA/cleaning cost was $327.

last night, I was dozing off on the couch so I just reheated some leftover pizza and called it good. currently cooking ground beef and wilted kale for the pups, while prepping loaded risotto to be made in the IP.
after I drop the pups tomorrow, I'll have the last 2 slices of pizza and whatever risotto leftovers in the fridge. everything else is either going with the pups, is unopened with long expiry (cheeses), or got tossed tonight for trash pickup tomorrow. whatever I can't figure out from that between now and Thursday morning will be takeout. oh, and that includes lunch on-site at a vendor on Wed.
