Nice, chiver78! Have a wonderful time. Working through the duck eggs. I made a cheese omelet last night with four of them. I was pleased the eggs set so nicely, but when it came to tasting, they were a bit overcooked. Not burnt per se, just rubbery or something....

This week we've ordered subs, spaghetti and meatballs and beef cabbage stir fry.
Tonight is grilled steaks and sweet potatoes. Taking advantage of a warm day in November to make DH grill. We also have an early dismissal today so he'll be home in time to do so before it's dark.

I just did some home made sloppy joes. Had pickles and kettle chips as well as tomatoes drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with italian seasoning to go with.
My best memory of mom’s sloppy joes was for my 10th birthday. All of the girls from both 5th grade classes were invited so there were roughly 30 kids. We had so much fun! She made a huge batch and everyone loved them.

I'm about to start cooking, but I'm using up some fridge goblins on chicken piccata. I picked up a box of bowtie pasta when I went out to grab a fee things for the pups. love that cut for this, it just holds all of the tasty sauce. 🤤

I'm making giblet stew, with onions, garlic, mushrooms and rosemary. It's my comfort food from childhood.

After cleaning out the main food cabinet yesterday, finding lots of noodles and dry beans, I decided to cook up some lima beans with a ham slice from the freezer. Should have made cornbread, but figuring out how to do a half pot compared to how I used to cook when the kids were eating here was enough of a challenge for one night. Ended up with about 4 servings, could stretch to 5 if I wanted to.
Ham slice - $5.29 1/2 bag large lima beans - $0.50 1/3 cup heavy cream - $0.99
$1.695 for 4 servings
During the cabinet clean out I ended up trashing around $100 in groceries that were way old. Mostly things like bottled dressings and sauces (dairy based) that I usually make from scratch now. Will be in good shape going forward, but that hurt my heart.

Let's just say duck eggs do well in quiche. -Last night I made air fried BBQ pork ribs and served them with riced cauliflower and zoodles. -Tonight, I'll bread flounder in food processed spicy pork rinds and parmesan cheese and serve it with green beans and breaded okra. -Wed: Ground beef enchiladas, rice, beans -Thurs: A favorite Irish pub -Fri: IDK yet -Sat: A brewery -Sun: Leftover enchiladas

my fridge is EMPTY right now, save for pup stash. I'm off tomorrow and planning a big shop (I still need to make a list) at the Market Basket I rarely go to anymore bc I live farther away. but their prices on fresh meat and produce are WAY better than Stop & Shop that's around the corner. I'm fully stocked on pup protein in the chest freezer, though. I lucked out on some recent sales. fresh feeding big dogs isn't for the faint of heart. I'd planned a light lunch, but it's now going to be dinner with something else additional to the plate. I sliced a plum tomato, currently drying on some paper towels. I'll top each slice with a mozzarella pearl and roast, then dress as a regular Caprese salad with red onion, basil, balsamic glaze. lunch plan had been to broil some baguette slices for a base, I may still do that idk. the "extra" is probably going to be a pasta, maybe tossed with some bruschetta since I don't have any sauce thawed.

Saturday night we had a birthday dinner for DH's brother. They made wonderful stuffed pork roasts.
Sunday night we picked up a pizza on the way home from the football game.
Monday I made a quick bolognese mixed with cavatappi. It had zucchini and chicken sausage. I can't find ground chicken sausage locally. So I bought a pound of ground chicken and a pound of ground Italian sausage and use half of each.
Tuesday I was in the office and didn't have a plan. I stopped by the grocery store and they had lots of meat markdowns. I grabbed a steak intending to slice for quesadillas. I forgot I needed tortillas. I tried out the air fry feature on the oven and cooked the steak and baby potatoes from the pantry.
Anyway it was $5 for the steak and I had everything else. I chopped and sautéed a bell pepper and made a gorgonzola sauce with the end of the pint of heavy cream.

DH wanted to make dinner together. So he cooked up some spicy sausage, I made sauce and garlic bread, and he cooked up some linguine noodles. We ate getting better at cooking it for 2. Just 1 serving left for today. Well, 1 if DH - would be 2 for me.
Sausage from farmers market $6 2 cans tomatoes $3.18 Bread from a reduced bakery buy $.50 Various on hand spices Noodles $.30 $9.98, for 3 dinner servings plus enough leftover sauce for 6 more servings in the freezer

I finally had breakfast/brunch around almost 2pm. I might snack later, idk. but it was a delish Cobb salad with grilled chicken and all of the extras. well, no funky moldy cheese for me. just a nice zinfandel vinaigrette over all of the chicken and veggies, and huge pile of guacamole that I only needed half of. lol... I had today off, and went to visit a friend that is a bartender at a place that's a little too far for a "long lunch" from where I live now. so while we caught up, I also had a couple cocktails. so we won't discuss my tab, or the friend-level tip I left lol... just know that I don't go out hardly at all anymore, and don't really GAF about this once in awhile.

Ordered from a local Italian place tonight. I had an appointment and DH came home this afternoon with a migraine. $34 with tip. I got a large grilled chicken Caesar salad and DH got a pasta dish with chicken, sausage and spicy marinara.

tonight will either be a can of soup or some freezer diving if I can find something small, if I actually eat tonight. tomorrow's weather lends to comfort food, so I'm going to cook the turkey breast tenderloins* with Thanksgiving fixins tomorrow rather than Sunday. I'm planning to be home on Thursday, but I haven't figured out exactly what I'm doing yet. very likely that will be a veggie lasagna with a full-on batch of sauce and meatballs, since my parents will be here for pup care a week later. my dad will appreciate the to-go packaging. *I lucked out in finding this package on Wednesday, and I actually found a 14lb turkey on holiday sale pricing today (that one's in the chest freezer for another time)

I baked off one of the turkey breast tenderloins, and froze the other for another day. the one I cooked was a huge PITA though. the recipe I found called for 40min of cook time. well, at 50min of cook time, 25deg higher than listed, this thing was still only at about 150degrees. I cut it in half and threw it back in the oven while I reheated the tasty sides that were getting cold. anyway, I had a couple slightly under-done slices of turkey and left the pan in the (turned off, but still hot) oven while I ate. sides were mashed potatoes, roasted acorn squash, bread stuffing, and Brussels sprouts & pancetta. we shall see if I die of salmonella poisoning in my sleep tonight, I guess.

The older I get the less I like to spend time cooking. So my newest meal for dinner are Chinese dumplings gently boiled in chicken broth. Once done, I add a small splash of dumpling dipping sauce to the broth and dumplings for additional flavoring.
Total time to make dinner? About seven minutes.

I can buy them at my local Kroger's store here in Memphis. Any big name food store in your area should carry them too in the frozen food aisles. If there are any close by Asian markets, you could probably find them there too.

tonight was a can of soup. but, I wanted to share this in case y'all weren't aware. 🙃
Progresso has a few new options, with a red swatch on the can label, to indicate spicy. I have discovered their spicy chicken noodle soup, which has diced jalapeno and other spices in it. it's quite mild by my tastes, but has a decent kick to change up the basic canned soup.

If there are any close by Asian markets, you could probably find them there too. I want to try the Trader Joe ones. Wish I had an Asian market in walking distance but I do not. Still need to check out the Indian grocer my coworker goes to. She saved me two Ladus when she made some for her niece? Niece is getting a very nice Indian food care package mailed to her college because apparently it is a low Indian food area. Ladus are far more dense than I thought. I am eating them slowly since there is dairy in them, ghee, which I used to use too. Chickpea flour and ground nuts and various Indian spices. I am eating them slowly as I can't test right now how they affect me. Really good, very filling.

If anyone visited me here from the board with a working vehicle you could see the foodie sights of my Fresh Market, one of the King's Market (also high end grocery), a German deli, a bespoke pharmacy which does compounding and carries high end beauty supplies and other stuff. I should make a foodie scavenger hunt some day for fun. Hmmmm.

It will, I did not pull off an order for Tuesday or Wednesday so hopefully I can get one done for Fri or Sat. There are some Fri/Sat specials like grass fed ground beef bricks at the grocery store that might not be seen until deflation becomes more real.
ETA This is my only grocery order. I am using ShopRite roughly every two weeks. Naturally I shop on demand or once a week because my stores are close and I can stop at ShopRite after work (this job and the one prior).

last night, I was pretty well toasted after cooking all afternoon. I threw fresh red sauce and shredded mozz onto a couple chicken tenders and three eggplant rounds, baked it to melt the cheese. paired that with the end of a bag of pappardelle noodles and called it good. tonight, I'm going to actually build a tray of eggplant parmigiana, and probably boil some more pasta. b/c what are the holidays if not carb-filled, right? tomorrow I think I'll do the veggie lasagna. I've fished out the meatballs and set those aside for my dad, should probably get them in the freezer tonight. I've already portioned out 2 small and one large container of sauce and dropped them in the chest freezer. I have the rest hanging out in a huge Lock 'n Lock for use this weekend, and the huge pot has been soaking since this morning. I'll probably have another small container left to freeze after assembling the parm and lasagna, and accounting for extra to use on reheating both.
