Oh Lord! Trump is bringing back Stephen Miller into his next "team". I can't even... The man appears to have no soul, so I expect he'll actually enjoy kicking people out of our country. Immigration for nonwhite people is going to be bad for the next four years. Trump may not scare anyone from starting or continuing wars, but he does scare some immigrants from coming here.

I expect it will be worse, so I hope most decide not to come here and go somewhere safer. Given what the Texas governor thought was appropriate to put in the water, I think Trump will decide to do that or worse. And those who recently became citizens or started the legal process might be in jeopardy under his administration as well.

"Little Marco" got a job. Trump Expected to Name Marco Rubio as Secretary of StateThe president-elect appears to have settled on the Florida senator to be the nation’s top diplomat. President-elect Donald J. Trump is expected to name Senator Marco Rubio of Florida as his secretary of state, three people familiar with his thinking said on Monday, as Mr. Trump moves rapidly to fill out his foreign policy and national security team. Mr. Trump could still change his mind at the last minute, the people said, but appeared to have settled on Mr. Rubio, whom he also considered when choosing his running mate this year. Mr. Rubio was elected to the Senate in 2010, and has staked out a position as a foreign policy hawk, taking hard lines on China and Iran in particular. I've always wondered why Marco put up with all of T's insults. Hope it was worth it.

Okay, Trump won. Get over it! Take your Xanax, dim the lights and light your aroma therapy candles. Y'all running around like your hair is on fire. Oh lordy, it's the end of democracy. Martial law. Internment camps and so on and so on. There's no proof on that. If that's the case, why didn't he do those the first time he was elected?
Biden should have dropped out 10mo or so ago and then the Dems could have had a primary and ran someone else. Who, I don't know. Now it's the blame game. Oh why oh why did we lose?? It's simple.Trump connected and resonated with enough people to win. And yes, Trump is a scoundrel but at least we knew that going in. Harris was was too vague on her policies other than the Biden policies.

So you're ok with a convicted rapist and felon as president. Characteristics you admire. Got it. Says a lot about your character too.

You know why he did not do so many things the first time around? Because many of his staff were ignoring his wishes and telling him him what he wanted to do was unconstitutional.

My first thought was woohoo, get her out of her house seat! Yeah. Then in the next breath they mentioned how former Ambassador Haley was persona non grata now with Trump.

It would be nice to see this bill pass the Senate, House and then signed into law before the felon and rapist is sworn in as president in January. Most likely will not happen. U.S. Senate introduces bill to remove presidential legal immunity
WASHINGTON D.C. (WTAJ) — U.S. Senators have introduced a bill that aims to strip any President of the United States of immunity to legal accountability. S. 4973, known as the “No Kings Act,” introduced by Sen, Charles Schumer (D-NY), looks to remove immunity for both the President and Vice President for actions that violate the U.S. criminal laws. Neither former nor sitting presidents or VP’s would be entitled to immunity from any criminal prosecution actions as well. This bill comes after the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) ruled in July that any future president may be “immune from criminal prosecution for actions within his ‘conclusive’ and ‘preclusive’ constitutional authority.” The decision was made 6-3. Furthermore, a sitting president has what SCOTUS called “presumptive immunity” from prosecution for all official acts. There is no immunity for “unofficial acts.” This decision came after 2024 President-elect Donald Trump was given presumptive immunity from “criminal liability for his official acts” when it came to his attempts to us the Justice Department to obstruct the results of the 2020 election. The legislation also looks to establish additional “jurisdictional and procedural” guardrails. The United States would be able to bring criminal actions against a president or VP in any “applicable district court,” if the bill passed. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), a cosponsor of the bill, said that a bill like the “No Kings Act” is important because, for example, if SCOTUS’s ruling was enacted in 1974, Former President Richard Nixon’s coverup during Watergate would have remained a coverup. “The No Kings Act offers a commonsense solution that restores basic American values and clarifies that in America, the law is king, and not even the President is above the law,” Reed said. Currently, the bill has yet to be passed in the United States Senate. If passed it would then move to the House to be voted on. If the bill passes in the House it would then move to the president’s desk to be signed into law. U.S. Senate introduces bill to remove presidential legal immunity

I don't mind who you vote for..... don't have a dog in the race.Is that true though? I almost think the European countries have more to lose with an unhinged lunatic at the helm in the US than the US citizens do. We'll deal with whoever the US public voted for ...as always

I read a meme the other day that 54% of American adults read below a 6th grade level. I checked it out and it seems to be true. Reading skill affects many things, including critical thinking skills. I am beginning to see why so many people voted against their self-interest this time around. If someone is telling you the big issue is how much you pay for groceries and rent, and brown people are stealing your jobs, and you lack the capacity for much critical thought, you might just believe those lies. You have this elitism just like we do...... Where sections of society talk down to "others" because they know everything and everyone else is stupid. Im guessing the "others" just got fed up of being talked down to Many people in the US work multiple jobs just to keep from going under. The cost of living and job availability is a big worry for a large section of society The Dems didn't meet the needs of the working man..... its as simple as. Just obsess about what toilets people are going to use, whilst others are concerned abut their pay checks. Trump made the people think he cared and thats why he won. Now whether Trump actually cares about the common man, remains to be seen.

Trump cares about Trump-simple as that. The idea that he cares about the common man is laughable. He is entirely transactional. He got what he needed from the common man-their vote. Given the typical republican proposals, the common man will get screwed. Ce la vie.

(Yes, I know gira from here does, but she's been doing that for 20+ years and not as a result of current economy). From the Bureau of Labor the number working multiple jobs is up dramatically from 2021 (when people weren't working at all), to around 5.4% but historically between 5 and 5.5% has been the norm.

The Republicans made it a major focus of the campaign because they know people are easily distracted. No, it doesn't. Unfortunately, the Dems need better marketing. People **think** they were in control of a bad economy - but so many economic indicators were very good, and the things most people were bitching about are worldwide problems that aren’t easily fixed by one government. The biggest tragedy is that the immigration bill didn’t pass. Huge missed opportunity just because Trump’s ego couldn’t take it. And instead of passing that bill’s twin brother, there is a chance that we will use chaos - poorly planned, inhumane and possibly illegal methods to “fix” the immediate problem - all while causing more problems and offering no long term solutions.

Most economic indicators under Biden were better than Trump’s. But the repo-con messaging that everything was horrible won the day. Not one time did I see Harris defend their 4 years. How about some facts about the causes of inflation. How about some facts on GDP, the indexes, home values, job growth, employment and UE numbers. Not a peep. They all just let the Trump train roll right over them.

I am not sure it would have mattered. What the pandemic taught me is that feelings trumped facts. No amount of factual information could persuade people to abandon their beliefs. People felt economic anxiety and the Republicans fed it and it led to this. The people on this board(most of us anyway), are not representative of our general population. Not sure how this gets fixed when we have the highest rated newscast be an arm of the Republican Party, spewing lies, nonsense, and propaganda. The Information Age has led to people being dumber

A number of Muslim immigrants here work in the nursing homes. Who is going to fill those positions if we just throw everyone out? And of course, we have a lot of immigrants in the construction industry too. So, no one to care for grandma, and no one to fix or replace your house if a bad storm hits. Brilliant!

JBS and Tyson are going to have a hard time operating their plants. I HIGHLY doubt there are going to be a bunch of white people lining up to work the kill floor. I suppose the solution would be what the old YM suggested and make all the people on welfare do it instead. Still creating an underclass that is basically glorified slavery but at least we're punishing our own home grown poor people instead of importing them.

Just force people to move to these areas. Shouldn't be a problem to resurrect slavery.
Trump is going to talk a good game. The will deport just enough people to make it seem like they are doing something, but not enough to hurt his rich corporate buddies.

I'm especially looking forward to the increased price of produce since the vast majority of the pickers are migrant workers.
Also, the local dairy farms are all staffed by Guatamalans. I have no idea if they are here legally or not. All I know is the Trump loving redneck boys aren't lining up to milk cows.

Like most things, the theory of it is better than the reality. And when the reality hits, a whole bunch of "I didn't expect it to affect me" will be said
