That’s some crazy inflation! Surely it is Biden’s fault.

Not sure if this will display or not, www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/when-america-was-great-according-to-data/ar-BB1mYttE?ocid=msedgntp&pc=DCTS&cvid=bcc45bde897a496081eaaaf715d06ec7&ei=18Cool, it did. Please note that those born from 1960 to 1969 and those born from 1970 to 1979 seem to agree on when the best music was which appears to be 1980s. Also notice how pegged those born 1940-1949 are pegged to 1950 for when things were best. Only those born 1946-1949 are technically Boomers. The 1940-1945 set are silent generation and early articles on Boomers, a pure marketing concept IMO, concentrated on the 1940 to1945 set. I think the 1950s is perceived as being best for families because of TV shows and relentless marketing in America. Leave it Beaver, etc. with wise TV dad's and helpful loving TV moms. The love and belief in fiction is what makes the 1950s IMO rate so high for some people. I found this to be the important point made by this data: So, we looked at the data another way, measuring the gap between each person’s birth year and their ideal decade. The consistency of the resulting pattern delighted us: It shows that Americans feel nostalgia not for a specific era, but for a specific age.
The good old days when America was “great” aren’t the 1950s. They’re whatever decade you were 11, your parents knew the correct answer to any question, and you’d never heard of war crimes tribunals, microplastics or improvised explosive devices. Or when you were 15 and athletes and musicians still played hard and hadn’t sold out.
...
The closest-knit communities were those in our childhood, ages 4 to 7. The happiest families, most moral society and most reliable news reporting came in our early formative years — ages 8 through 11. The best economy, as well as the best radio, television and movies, happened in our early teens — ages 12 through 15. (from link)

Way over the top how? I was one of those who considered voting for McCain until he chose Sarah Palin. All she had to do was to open her mouth and display her ignorance. Since McCain was not in the best of health (I think he had heart issues at the time), I really didn't like the idea that she was the Plan B for the party. At the time, I thought he was going to choose Lieberman so was blindsided by Palin. it wasn't his choice. he WANTED Lieberman. Had he gone with his choice, he likely would have won.

Had he gone with his choice, he likely would have won. had THEY gone with his choice, i would have voted for him. He wasn't getting my vote either way. His narrow life experiences concerned me, i.e. raised in a military family, went to the Military Academy, adulthood spent in the military.

It is certainly a rise to the occasion opportunity. So far she seems to be doing it. We have to hope she will continue to grow into it.

Saw your woman KH on TV last night ...at a rally (never seen her before) She's like a breath of fresh air ...... the crowd were very responsive. Could this be the one? up to you guys of course. she’s already raised 120 M, and had 100,000 people sign up to volunteer for her campaign. There’s a lot of female anger (and some male) about Roe vs Wade being repealed. Harris is making reproductive freedom part of her platform - she’ll get a lot of traction on that. So far, JD Vance has been surprisingly unpopular. He’s the first VP in history whose approval rating sank when his name was announced. He keeps saying Harris is a bitter woman with a lot of cats because she has no kids and for some reason that has enraged the Taylor Swifties, and pissing them off is like releasing the Kracken. He may actually be dragging Trump down. Oh and Taylor Swift has endorsed her. She’s still in her honeymoon period, but if she plays it right, she’ll have a jump once she announces her VP choice (fingers crossed it’s an astronaut), and another one with the DNC convention - meanwhile, Trump is now in the spotlight for being the only old man still in the race. So far, I am cautiously optimistic.

Trump’s VP pick also said people like Harris, who is poised to be the Democratic presidential nominee, have no direct stake in America if they don't have kids. link Hey JD, George Washington didn't have any kids

I watched Biden's speech. Made some bold promises. But no reason for dropping out other than saying time for younger people to take the reins. Everyone knows its his health but he just couldn't bring himself to admit it.

Former President Donald Trump bashed President Joe Biden’s Oval Office address Wednesday night.
“Crooked Joe Biden’s Oval Office speech was barely understandable, and sooo bad!” The Republican presidential nominee posted on Truth Social. link As always, the class act.

The best economy, as well as the best radio, television and movies, happened in our early teens — ages 12 through 15. (from link) Its an interesting shorthand, but its flawed. The graphs aren't just peaks, they are a continuum. Some graph lines have two peaks at almost equal amplitude. Most of the top peaks range from say 25% to 50% therefore potentially leaving out 50 to 75% of the population. None of those tendencies apply to me and many do not apply to people I know. I was 5 years old when I moved to the third house I would live in with my parents. I did prefer ages 3 to 5 1/2 over 5 1/2 to 17 though. My first memory was of the news of JFK's shooting when I was three years old. Gas rationing happened in the 70s so that's a no for me as well. And as a musician and someone who loves TV and entertainment, I don't even have a favorite era for any of that. Seems too limiting and a way to trap me in the past instead of moving forward and seeing what this year or these next few years bring in film, TV and music. My BFF had a very different experience from me and this might be more true for her because she lived close to the heart of town in the same house until after I went to college.

Does someone want to explain sharks, batteries and electrocution to me logically? Its not logical but I think I want to make some memes out of it. I really think DJT workshops ideas at his rallies and no longer is troubled if they sound cray cray or follow the same formula. He wants to define himself as the defender of gas powered cars, so he feels he wants you to know they could be coming for your boats too. Oh No Mr. Donald how could that be? I of course get stuck on the illogical idea that a battery in a boat could get heavier the further it is away from the dock.

As he once admitted to his biographer: Most people grow up. Trump never did. He's got 73 years of experience being a five-year-old emotionally.
