If I had been given the chance to choose, I would have had my tubes tied when I was in my 20s. Instead I have been on BC for 20 years, because I knew I never wanted children. Luckily, I have always had insurance that has made BC affordable. Same! I had T2 at 20 yo and wanted my tubes tied then. Nobody would do it. Luckily a different doctor did it for me at 33 after asking me a bunch of hypothetical questions about what I want for the future.

Matt Gaetz tweeted ‘how many women rallying against overturning Roe are over-educated, under loved millennials who sadly return from protests to a lonely microwave dinner with their cats and no bumble matches?’ Says the guy under investigation for paying underage women to travel out of state for sex parties with him. What's the definition of over-educated? Rhetorical question.

And it has started. Former 'National Review' Editor Calls for Supreme Court to Overturn Brown v. Board Next
Monday night’s leak of a draft opinion showing that the Supreme Court is ready to fully overturn Roe v. Wade has prompted many a conservative to show their retrograde, bigoted asses and confirm that the end of Roe will also affect many, many other rights and freedoms. One conservative, in particular, took to the alt-right social media site Gab to call for the court to overturn Brown v. Board of Education, the 1954 case that struck down racial segregation in public schools. Peter Brimelow is a former editor at the conservative National Review (a relatively mainstream publication!) who now runs a white nationalist website called VDare; the site’s tagline is “we inform the fight to keep America American.” Brimelow shared the story about the leak on Gab, per extremism reporter Nick Martin, and seemed excited about the prospect of legal public segregation: “Next stop Brown vs. Board!” Brimelow also called for the court to overturn New York Times v. Sullivan, a landmark press freedom case that required people suing for libel to prove that false statements were maliciously made. We should note that Brimelow is currently suing the Times for referring to him as a white nationalist (he prefers “civic nationalist”). Brown is the case that overruled Plessy v. Ferguson and its odious “separate but equal” doctrine because the court said it violated the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause, which holds that states can’t “deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” (Dozens of federal judges appointed by President Donald Trump refused to say during their confirmation hearings if Brown was correctly decided, and some only started doing so after complaints from the only Black Republican Senator, Tim Scott of South Carolina.) Not only is it disgusting to call for the court to overturn Brown, it’s a bit awkward for the more “mainstream” conservatives who have touted the case as a righteous example of the Supreme Court overruling precedent. People including Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Justice Brett Kavanaugh have cited the vile decision in Plessy in their long campaign to undermine Roe. So now Brimelow, and other people who think like him, are openly admitting that not only do they want to end protections for abortion, they want to legalize segregation. Just great. Article here: Former 'National Review' Editor Calls for Supreme Court to Overturn Brown v. Board NextSo then what would we do with interracial children? Do they get homeschooling since we can't separate the two races? That's just ridiculous.

Exactly. I'd love it if scgal (or someone else) could explain why men can do whatever the fuck they want with their bodies, while women can't. Why are men making ANY choices for women, reproductively speaking?
Why does a young woman who's made the decision NOT to ever have children get told 'no, we won't perform that surgery on you' because they think she'll change her mind? Does a young man face that same ridiculous bullshit? I mean.. not all women can use birth control due to side effects. Even if they can, it can fail. Condoms fail too. So it would seem like if that young woman knows she doesn't want kids, a medical "professional" should be taking care of her wishes instead of denying them based on their opinions/feelings.
Don't make choices for others based on those you would make for yourself. Everyone should have the same right to make their own decisions.
Ok here goes I don't expect anyone here to agree with me, and I may get a time out but you asked. When a child is born the parent or parents have an legal obligation to keep the child alive in other words don't kill the kid. When a woman becomes pregnant and a heartbeat is found a voluntary non medical necessary abortion should no longer be allowed. If it is don it should be classified as murder. Now the bullshit my body my choice boo hoo crap. It is our choice to have sex, protect ourselves the best we can, etc those are choices but once pregnant and a heartbeat is found it is no longer your body the only choice is to make sure we protect the baby. What about rape and incest? Did those girls get a choice? What about fetal abnormalities? Do those women get a choice? So by your logic carrying a rapist's baby and the trauma caused by that is ok. Bringing a severely handicapped baby into this qorld to suffer with no quality of life is ok as long as they have a heartbeat? I'm going to assume that you have never been in one of these situations and this is why you think this. While we're at it are we going to require child support from the time the baby has a heartbeat. Will we also make sure that the men that don't pay are prosecuted? Because there are plenty of deadbeat dad's out there impregnating women and then doing nothing about it.

Yet you have no problem when invoking “my body, my choice” when it comes to vaccination. You don’t think the unvaccinated should have any duty to tell medically fragile individuals if the are vaccinated, even if it could kill them. Conservatives have no problem invoking the same phrase when it comes to masks. You sure have a strange idea of freedom. Show me one of these conservative states that are allowing any medically necessary second trimester abortion. They all seem to be proud that they are banning all abortions. You think my wife should have had her life threatened instead of allowing an abortion. Again, your compassion is overwhelming Posters get confused or take things out of context. I never said my body my choice on vaccinations or masks. What I said is I don't care if you were vaccinated when entering my home, an no one has the right to know if i'm vaccinated or not. Now if it was a law a person would have to comply with their vac card. If it was law you should comply. It's required to get a vaccination to go to school my kids were vaccinated. Believe it or not I'm very sorry what your wife, and family went thru. If you read my post I said non medical abortions should not allowed, your wifes was medically necessary. If Roe gets overturned it goes back to the states. Its not that big of a deal people that believe in abortions should go to a state that coincides with their beliefs those that don't can do the same, or just deal with that states laws. What about the people who can't pick up and move? This is directed at marginalized people who will not have the choice to do what others can't. The rich white people will quietly get their abortions and nobody will ever know. The poor POC will be forced to bring these children into the world that they cannot afford and will bring them down even further into poverty. Also, why does the state have any say over my body? For any reason.

I find it less funny that pro birthers care mostly about the birth and not so much on the process and financials of getting to that point let alone the aftercare of raising a human for 18 years or so. If someone is willing to terminate a pregnancy because of uncertain future financials is pretty low on the bar of humanity People who know they can't take care of them are inhuman? It's better to have them and have the child live in poverty and likely end up dead or in jail at a young age? Why? Why is allowing a child to suffer so superior to terminating the pregnancy?

apple.news/AqkQidqWvQ8mI8NQRsIAK2QThink these decisions won't affect everyone. I would advise all of these physicians to think long and hard about where you want to practice. maybe if their wives cannot get an appointment with an OB these representatives will rethink their positions

It's better to have them and have the child live in poverty and likely end up dead or in jail at a young age? Why? Why is allowing a child to suffer so superior to terminating the pregnancy? We've been over this on the boards before. If you cannot plan and save to raise a kid in any and all scenarios then you should never have sex. Period. Birth control can fail so if you're having sex it means you can afford a kid. If you cannot then you and your kid deserve to live in poverty as punishment for your transgressions. You must daily be reminded of your low social worth and bask in the taxpayers disdain. We meanwhile glory in our superiority over how well we planned everything. Or you give the baby up to a good Christian upper middle class family who can't have kids. You can bask in knowing you basically being a breeding dog made this family very happy. You did society a favor by recognizing what an irresponsible POS you are for having sex when you are not someone we consider worthy of having it. Did I miss anything?

count me in as another one who is "meh" about being here. I was an ooops. My mother told me as much. She already had a 5 and a 7 year old when I was born, and as far as she was concerned, she was done with kids. I wasn't outright abused, but I wasn't exactly nurtured either. I also want to discuss the mental effect of pregnancy on a woman's mental health. I had two very much wanted pregnancies. I also have some PTSD issues from being pregnant because it was such a miserable sick experience for me. I also had severe post partum depression. I literally could not have handled another pregnancy, to the point i would have considered an abortion if I became pregnant again. I'm older, upper middle class, financially secure, and have a very supportive network and allegedly could deal with another pregnancy. Same here. I have the means to care for a child, but at 43 I wouldn't want to. I also wouldn't want to give birth to a child and have them go through their entire life feeling unwanted. I have had my tubes tied and practice safe sex. If all that somehow failed and I ended up pregnant, I would terminate.

I read it too and my eyes almost rolled out of my head. Someone needs to get out of her straight white middle class privileged bubble and go talk to the women who will be impacted the most by repealing R v W. Women who don't have the luxuries that she has when choosing what to do if she gets pregnant. To stand there and claim that if they just talked to a pregnancy center everything will be fine is cruel optimism. I certainly agree with her about needing better comprehensive sex education and care. I do not agree with her that this magical utopia is going to happen because they repealed R v W. If that was true then it should have existed before Roe came into affect and we all know it didn't. She would just feel the need to educate them: It seems to me that we've created a culture where women are not equipped with the information and resources they need to make the best decisions for themselves before and during pregnancy -- decisions that would allow them to keep their unborn children. Because they haven't had access to comprehensive and supportive care that women need during pregnancy, many have felt, mistakenly, that abortion was their only option. She would need to have it be very personal for her to gain any understanding. dear lord. and the right thinks that Obama was dripping with arrogance and condescension.

I just came across some interesting stats. I live in a state where abortion is legal and will remain so, in spite of the recent Supreme Court ruling. About 82% of the citizens here are white, but 49% of the abortions are to women of color. If the so-called white supremacists think this ruling will result in an increase of white Americans, they're in for a rude awakening. In my state, if more restrictions are put in, there will be an increase in the percentage of children of color. I don't mind, but I'm sure some heads will explode once they figure it all out.

Mister and I were talking about this very thing yesterday, except we didn’t have stats. He was also telling me about a video he watched where someone was talking to a white man (I can get the details about the video if I need to) and the white man said white people need to avoid becoming minorities because then they wouldn’t have control over their lives. I’m not a rocket surgeon, but to me, he was unintentionally making a statement about his perception of how much control current minorities they have over their lives. And he’d like to keep it that way.

Some thing that a cyber friend of mine posted eleswhere...I wanted to share. I got her permission to copy but she asked me to NOT reveal her screen name...so I won't.
" Having been a 35-year long Democratic party activist, party office holder, and campaign stalwart, I well know the value of being active in local political races and vetting candidates carefully. I've sat on and chaired endorsement committees in local races and have a good idea of how tenuous some issues like abortion rights can become.
The SCOTUS ruling did not make abortion illegal, but gave those decisions up to the states. Many states will soon be enacting laws to do so. Other states (like Washington and Oregon) will do their utmost to make our states havens for women who seek abortions. And evidently, many employers will soon be giving financial assistance to women who need to travel outside of their state to seek an abortion.
A political colleague posted this comment on Facebook today:
"Today’s SCOTUS decision revoking Roe v. Wade was expected. Evil, but expected. This is the first time the court has ripped rights away from citizens, but it will not be the last. A long list of goals has been identified by those watching. Certainly birth control. A fetal personhood decision will very likely spark investigations of miscarriages for wrongful death charges. Sodomy laws will likely be recalled, but picking up gay couples is just a bonus. They want an excuse to monitor people’s sex lives AND tell them what they can and cannot do. Voting rights are now on the chopping block, and laws against race mixing may well return.
Conservatives do not do this, but fascists do. Women are second class citizens in their view, property whose primary function is to provide new solders and factory workers, and do it quietly. They take our rights away.
We cannot let this stand. It will be a long battle but we can win, we just need to hang together. But make no mistake. They will attack when they see opposition."
We have lots of work to do - and getting involved somehow in the political process is a must."

From a Canadian Facebook user: In Canada, you can get a poutine in every province, if you so choose. Not everyone wants to order poutine, and that’s totally fine. It’s your choice.
In the US, some states have restaurants with poutine on the menu. Lots don’t. And after today, fewer will.
If you find yourself in need of a poutine, but live in a state that restricts access to poutine, consider a trip to Canada, and give me a shout. I won’t ask what size poutine you want or why you haven’t considered other food options. That’s your choice. That is ONLY YOUR CHOICE. I can, however, help take you to order your poutine, wait with you while you eat, and make sure you have a comfy place to rest, post-poutine.
Please do not attempt to make your own poutine. Do not have an unqualified chef, who is without certification, prepare your poutine. If you are terrified of the enormous cost of travelling to Canada for our excellent poutine, please don’t let that stop you. Once you’re here, we have many restaurant options.
I got you.

I posted that on my FB this morning. And then saw a post from a male coworker (55ish) that posted a half hour before that read: When I found out I was going to be a father, way back when, I was excited about the prospect of taking my son/daughter camping one day. Now I see this "meme", making its rounds, and overly dramatic posts of "taking your female friend" camping to a state with legalized abortion. It's just sad. A true bellwether of society today. My reply was along the lines of "I'll care what you think when you can turn a parasite into a human".

I work in the states for an international company. We got a company notification last week that starting now, if any of us need to travel to another state for medical treatment, they would pay the travel costs.
I guess they’re offering to pay for camping trips.

Given the amount of punishment a female body goes through when carrying and birthing a child.
How can a third party force you to do it........ if you don't want to?

i don't think this helps whites. at all. A GOPer accidentally said that part out loud: www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/gop-rep-draws-backlash-after-praising-overturn-of-roe-as-victory-of-white-life/ar-AAYSKnx?ocid=EMMX&cvid=6550d7b4f14b4195b91b955a63adebe1The far right seems to think forcing white women to have more babies will prevent whites from becoming a minority. Based on what happened in Texas after they made it much harder to get an abortion, the number of women getting an abortion remained the same - they just traveled across state lines to get one. Since many states have stated they will continue to allow abortions, and will even gear up to provide more abortions in anticipation of women traveling to them to get the abortions, only the poor white women who can’t afford to travel will be impacted by this new ruling. I don’t think there will be a surge of white babies for the racists to adopt.
