Hi all. So sorry to hear the old thread is gone, but we are all still here. People first, then things.
The people "made" that thread. Even when things were contentious, it was wonderful.
This one can be wonderful, too. It's up to us.
What am I doing right now? I have about one hour's worth of housework to do. So instead of doing it and enjoying a neat and orderly house, I'm procrastinating and tapping on my keyboard to say hi to all you lovely folks.
I live on the wild side, apparently.

I'm sitting outside for a bit. puzzle book, HGTV streaming on my phone, a glass of prosecco on the table. laundry is in progress, some things I intend to pack. I also threw out a couple really old swimsuits I found in the drawer, the elasticity was completely gone. these suits were ~10y old, so it was time. 🤷♀️
Punk is out here with me, sprawled out on the crushed stone walkway and happy panting bc she's outside. LD is inside, stretched out across my bed. unfortunately for me, he's wedged between my pillows and the huge stuffed lobster that lives on my bed during the day to hinder him from doing exactly that. 🤦♀️. I'll be needing allergy meds in the am.

Off to a bit of a late start. Nothing on agenda for the day besides normal wash. Should try to be productive. Not sure that will happen.

Back from church and Sunday school. I needed to stop at the grocery store, but wasn’t feeling it. I know I need some things but will do that tomorrow when DD comes here with some of her 8 kids for the next few days. I don’t know how many are coming, but we’ll make do and have a good time too! We plan on going strawberry picking one day with the little ones while the big kids do school work and take their SOL’s.

Thank you everyone for the shoe recommendations. I'm making a list of the suggestions to work through.
What I meant my sustainable is a company who is at least trying to offset their footprint. Recycled materials, reduced packaging, company initiatives etc. I try to buy 2nd hand as much as possible but shoes can be tricky especially with my feet issues.

Spent the last two weekends hauling everything out of my closets and pantry and spring cleaning. It all now looks fabulous. We went out hunting for a cappuccino-espresso machine. Looks like it will need to be an online order. Most stores not stocked with them anymore. Came home and baked a cake for later. Butter is defrosting to make frosting. Also going to work outside later when it's cooler.

I don't know if it will hold, but this morning I weighed in at 154, first time I have lost in some time. But will see how it goes. DD and I went to a buffet in town, I had 3 small chicken wings, quite a bit of green beans, they were really good, and some mashed potatoes with chicken gravy plus salad. I kept the amounts small, same with DD. Sad to say we won't go back, had not been to the that one before. It was $36. Then went through DQ, DD had a small blizzard and med diet pepsi, I had a large diet, $9.30, inflation is finally hitting us. She and I just don't eat enough to go to those. Even hubs has lost 10 pounds, but he needs to lose at least 50 to 80 more so can't tell it, but he said he could.
I really like these shoes I bought, had never tried that brand before, leather shoes are soooo comfortable and they have cushioning adhered to the back of the leather. I could wear medium width if these orthotics were not so wide. They look so much dressier then the huge orthotic type shoes.

At the nail salon. Gwen got a gift certificate.
She wanted to pay for me too but Abby wanted to come. So I brought Abby and I passed so.Abby could get her toes done.
I can't have painted or fake nails in a lab anyhow. Nor can I wear open toed shoes so a professional pedicure is wasted on me. Sometimes I get one before vacation.
Abby was pretty excited and it left enough for Gwen to get acrylics so I'm cool with it.

A local hamburger joint closed during the pandemic. The owner decided to retire and sold it to two younger guys. They are remodeling the old building and have a food truck and picnic tables in the parking lot right now. $15 for cheeseburger and fries on paper in a plastic basket. Yes, I'm sure the burger is amazing - they always were - and I know beef prices are high and headed higher. But I'm not doing that. It would be $30 for the 2 of us, and for that I can get amazing Wagyu beef, brioche buns, a premium cheese, lettuce and heirloom tomatoes at Whole Paycheck, and have enough for 4 burgers. We don't eat fries. The new owners said they had a special custom grill made to duplicate the original setup. Come on now, that's called a screaming hot flat-top and I can duplicate the sear with a cast iron griddle on my grill. They don't even toast their buns or grill their onions

I just killed a snake by throwing bricks at him. I think at least one landed on his head. Sorry, weltschmerz . I tried to discourage him by squirting him with the water hose, but he wouldn't take the hint. He was probably a harmless snake, but I have Penny (and ME) to protect. UPDATE: He is gone now. I am sure he is telling his family and friends about his near-death experience!

Finally home. They said possible fracture of her 5th metatarsal. They're going to put her in a splint and give us the # to schedule with the orthopedics. The splint can't come off, get wet, and she can't bare weight on it. I feel like an ass for waiting to take her in. I'm dreading getting her through school.

But I take good care of my feet, and my toenails will never not be pretty - even though I'm usually the only person who sees them. It is one self care item that I insist on.

My baby Smokey has gotten stung or something on his left paw, his foot and leg is swollen. No vet in today, I need to watch, we are thinking a wasp or something. He doesn't feel hot but he is kind of miserable. He is all over beside me think he finally got comfortable. I have been petting and cuddling my little sweetie. Will try to get in touch with the vet early in the morning, I don't know what else to do, never had an issue like that before. He keeps moving it so I know its hurting him, but he is purring when I love on him too. The paw does not feel hot and he can walk on it, but he is very restless.
Is there anything you can give a cat for pain?

Is there anything you can give a cat for pain? You can give a cat aspirin, but never Tylenol. The standard dosage of aspirin for cats is 6 to 10 milligrams per kilogram of body weight. However, since cats metabolize aspirin slowly, you should only give this medication every 48 to 72 hours. wagwalking.com/cat/treatment/aspirin-for-catsI gave Sushi aspirin when he fell out of the window. I can't check how much I gave him, because the thread went *poof*.

Off to Wal-Mart for a few things while it is still quiet. Not much else on the agenda except for the routine household chores. I also went to Wal-Mart, but it wasn't exactly quiet. Not horrendous though.

So regretting not doing any laundry for two weeks. It will all be caught up today though. We could easily go two weeks without doing laundry. We have a ridiculous amount of clothing and linens. However, DH is thoroughly against that plan--which is okay since he does more than half of the laundry.

We are set up at the RV park we're staying at for the next six weeks. It's new in the area--opened within the last two years. It's quite nice and has a good amount of security. They actually ran background checks on us. It is a 30-min drive from where we work/where we were living.

I’m not taking the time to try to figure out if a snake is harmless or not. My instincts say “it’s a monster, RUN!” and that’s what I do.

ETA: He wasn't in the yard. He was in the carport very close to where I was using the water hose. So he had invaded MY territory, not the other way around.

So he had invaded MY territory, not the other way around. "Up in the carport" pretty much rules out a water moccasin/cottonmouth, so we are down to coral snakes, copperheads and rattlesnakes in the venomous category in the US, all of which are pretty easy to identify. Much of America is in drought stage and our local media is warning of increased snake sightings. I will not kill any non-venomous snake, or a venomous snake that is not directly threatening me. I have killed one coral snake that was an immediate threat, and relocated one copperhead in the last 30 years. Everybody has to make their own choice on this issue, but I vote reptile unless directly threatened.
