I won't use Expedia or Priceline for flights, hotels, etc. For flights, you have no idea of the route you will be flying. I was flying from Denver to San Francisco. On the way out I got a direct flight. On the way back, it was San Francisco to Phoenix to Denver. We sat in Phoenix over 24 hours because the flight got canceled and people who use Expedia or Priceline are at the back of the line.
I have also overheard people trying to get hotel upgrades or connecting rooms with friends who used the hotel websites. None of that is going to happen if you have used Expedia or Priceline.
I don't travel like that any more.

Even though I know they can change the schedule on me, I want to decide where my connections are and for how long. I was just offered a flight home from South America that has a connection time of less than 2 hours in Miami. Nope. Not sure about Expedia. Expedia may have a Priceline-like feature but I think you can also choose flights. I agree with you, though- going through a third party always creates an extra layer where things can go wrong and then neither side accepts responsibility. Depending on the conditions, you may not get loyalty points and any status you have with the airline or hotel may not be taken into account. I start with Orbitz (same parent company as Expedia) to see what's available but then book directly with the provider. I feel a bit guilty but I've had too many things go wrong when booking through Orbitz.

It may have had nothing to do with the hit at all. Every year I hear about some young non-famous person suddenly keeling over and it's determined later there was an underlying heart issue. It may be he was just lucky enough to have it happen at a game with a hoard of paramedics right there to revive him. Had he been alone in his hotel room later that night he'd have been a goner for sure.
One of the few things that makes me nervous about living alone! I can handle most things that come up, but heart suddenly stops and renders you immediately unconscious? Yeah, no. Dead.
I keep seeing FB posts that it's because he was vaccinated. Of course the antivaxxers came out of the woodwork blaming the vaccine. I can't stand people.

I booked a normal room, we wound up with a suite where the bathroom alone was larger than my apartment in Boston. 99% of the hotels I book, I book through Expedia, and have frequently been upgraded. After booking a flight back in 2019 through Expedia, never again. I needed an internal flight within Turkey on Pegasus Air. I tried Pegasus directly, but was having issues with the website. I finally booked through Expedia. About 2 weeks before we left, the flight was canceled and we were rescheduled 48 hours after our flight was supposed to leave, screwing up car rentals and hotel reservations. I refused our rescheduling, but had to have a 3 way discussion between Pegasus and Expedia. This went on about 10 days, we rebooked with Turkish Air and disputed the Expedia charges. I ran into this same situation needing to book an Air India flight for March a few months ago. Nope. I finally got the flight booked, but not through Expedia.

Cats fed, I'm fed so we will settle in for the evening.
There is dense fog out there. Very happy I don't have to go anywhere.
I found the "book" I am donating to the Allen County Genealogy Center. They are trying to expand their WWII collection and I have a book on the "boys" who were in WWII from the area where mom grew up. There are photos of more than 200 men in the book. The town doesn't have 200 people living there today.
I remembered it as a book, put it's a pamphlet.
I also have two copies of the Centennial Book for that city. I will talk to them to see if they want that. I know it was also out on paperback, but I have two hardback copies. I only need one.

I don't fly to Europe or South America so I know nothing about those places. My last trip to London was in 2009. No intention of going back. I don't stay at fancy hotels.
Since most of my travel is in the US and Canada, I will stay with booking direct at the airline or hotel website. I won't stay at a Super 8 style hotel. I try to stay only at Hilton brands. The level of service at the hotels has not returned to pre-Covid service. The town where I do my genealogy research only has truck driver and construction worker dumps and an over priced Marriott. I stay at the Marriott. My other option is driving an hour to a Hilton property. That defeats the purpose.
I am only flying to Toronto because I had an unused flight credit from a Covid cancellation. It had to be rebooked by 12-31. If Covid seems out of control at the time, I will cancel and drive. It's already paid for and it's actually more comfortable for me to drive.
I am a bit concerned about the shuttle from the fly and park airport at O'Hare. DN1 tells me I will have to clear Customs in Toronto. I will clear US Customs in Toronto when I return.
I am not aware of shuttles between gates at either of those airports, but it's been a long time since I have flown.
We each do what is comfortable for us. I really do not want to fly since the mask rules and testing rules are gone.

Was reading random click bait about "cool girl" tweets.
One was gate keeping anime and said if you can't name 15 DBZ characters you aren't an anime fan.
I was bored so I decided to give it a go and named 19 off the top of my head.
Up to 22 now. I need a hobby.
Speaking of anime I watched Sailor Moon Enternal on Netflix. It was awesome.
I'm 99 percent sure the one character is voiced by the same actor who does Weis in DBZ super.

For work, I got invited to a conference that’s being held next month. I wanted to fly out of BWI but may need to out of a DC area airport instead. I’m headed to ONT (in CA). For those that fly between East and West coast, any airlines to focus on?
I tend to fly Southwest but not sure if I’ll be able to this time because of flight times. I’d be leaving Tuesday and coming back either Thursday night or Saturday (may have another thing to do while in town on Friday but need to get it approved first).

One time DH went to the UAB ER, and the waiting room was so crowded that they did rounds in the waiting room EVERY HOUR to make certain no one was worse. This was pre-Covid . . . just a Saturday night in Alabama's largest city! He ended up getting treated in the hallway, and he was a possible heart attack! It was awful indeed. jerseygirl, your husband will be in my thoughts and prayers . . . and not just for a room.

I used to travel quite a bit, not so anymore. But I have used expedia mainly. I used priceline this time. Guess I just got lucky, but never had a problem. I had to reschedule one time and it went smoothly. But I have also booked directly with the airlines.
You can select your flight with Priceline, hubs would not have flown unless we got a straight flight with no connecting flight and we did. I also used to use SouthWest all the time with good luck. We also had the shuttles and they met us with a wheelchair for DD. Son told us to use Alaska Air and they were a good airline even with all the ice problems.
I just bagged up 3 bags of clothing to go to the free store. It's all really good clothing, hurts me to get rid of it. I told hubs I'm keeping size large for now. Everything I've read says when I quit using this stuff I will regain the weight.
I did poor impulse control tonight, had chili, then I ate I don't know how many turtles, they are so good. Thankfully, I don't do this often anymore, but still, loads of calories tonight. And I didn't eat much today, so I should be good. Had a banana this morning, a smoothie later and 2 boiled eggs. Then chili and at least 8 turtles I'm guessing.

I got this shirt from Target. In women's clothes I wear a size medium or large depending on how it's cut. I got it in a large since it's a t shirt. I'd rather it be too large than too small. It's enormous! It's unisex which I default to men's sizing on. It's even big for a men's large which would be a women's XL. I'm hoping it shrinks at least a little in the wash. If I'm still swimming in it after washing it I'll cut the bottom half of and use it as an oversized crop top. I wear them to the gym all the time. www.target.com/p/pride-adult-igualdad-short-sleeve-t-shirt-blue-l/-/A-84661660It says equality on it in Spanish in case someone wanted to know.

I read this on FB today. I saw so much of myself in it, that I’ve not been able to stop thinking about it since. Because besides the fact that I really don’t like my job, all the biggest stressors and sources of turmoil in my life, are because of what other people are doing, not me. And my Doctor warned me years ago that stress would eventually affect my physical health. Even my Mom use to regularly tell me that stress can kill you, even while she was knowingly a source of a lot of stress for me.
Anyway, here it is, I included in my copying and pasting who posted it, but if I am still violating a guideline or the COC here, I will delete it with no issue.
Act Biggy 4d · My mom had a lot of problems. She did not sleep and she felt exhausted. She was irritable, grumpy, and bitter. She was always sick, until one day, suddenly, she changed. The situation was the same, but she was different. One day my dad said to her: - I've been looking for a job for three months and I haven't found anything, I'm going to have a few beers with friends. My mom replied: - It's okay. My brother said to her: - Mom, I'm doing poorly in all subjects at the University ... My mom replied: - Okay, you will recover, and if you don't, well, you repeat the semester, but you pay the tuition. My sister said to her: - Mom, I hit the car. My mom replied: - Okay daughter, take it to the workshop, find how to pay and while they fix it, get around by bus or subway. Her daughter-in-law said to her: - Mother-in-law, I come to spend a few months with you. My mom replied: - Okay, settle in the living room couch and look for some blankets in the closet. All of us at my mom's house gathered worried to see these reactions. We suspected that she had gone to the doctor and that she was prescribe some pills of "I don't give a damn about 1000 mg." She would probably also be ingesting an overdose. We then proposed to do an "intervention" to my mother to remove her from any possible addiction she had towards some anti-tantrum medication. But what was not the surprise, when we all gathered around her and my mom explained: "It took me a long time to realize that each person is responsible for their life, it took me years to discover that my anguish, my mortification, my depression, my courage, my insomnia and my stress, did not solve their problems but aggravated mine. I am not responsible for the actions of others, but I am responsible for the reactions I express to that. Therefore, I came to the conclusion that my duty to myself is to remain calm and let each one solve what corresponds to them. I have taken courses in yoga, meditation, miracles, human development, mental hygiene, vibration and neurolinguistic programming, and in all of them, I found a common denominator: finally they all lead to the same point. And, it is that I can only interfere with myself, you have all the necessary resources to solve your own lives. I can only give you my advice if you ask me and it depends on you to follow it or not. So, from now on, I cease to be: the receptacle of your responsibilities, the sack of your guilt, the laundress of your remorse, the advocate of your faults, the wall of your lamentations, the depositary of your duties, who should solve your problems or spare a tire every time to fulfill your responsibilities. From now on, I declare all independent and self-sufficient adults. Everyone at my mom's house was speechless. From that day on, the family began to function better, because everyone in the house knows exactly what it is that they need to do.
I’ve had so much on my mind lately. Last night I got out of bed around 11pm because I had monkey brain and couldn’t sleep, and one of the things I told myself was that I can’t stop the people I love from doing dumb shit, so I HAVE to learn to manage how I deal with things that upset my nerves, but I have no control over. I KNOW that some of my issues are due to stress, even some of the physical issues I have, and I’m the only person that can fix that. Basically, telling myself the things that are made so clear in that post.
I’m going to take me seeing that post today, after all my thoughts last night, as a message from the universe or God. I know that the last time in my life where I felt like I had had work to do on myself and accepted that, all of a sudden, messages and guidance were all around me. It made me a believer in the saying that “when the student is ready, the Master appears”.
That doesn’t mean I will stop addressing issues in my home or relationships that are necessary for my well being….. that is part of my responsibility to myself, part of taking care of me. It means I have to learn to let go of being so stressed and worried about other things my loved ones do to wreck their own lives, things that are not my responsibility to fix, and I can’t do anything about anyway. That is also part of taking care of me.
Just more random thoughts.

I bought my DH a tank top for Christmas. I just verified the package was labeled with the right size when it came in. I tossed it in the gift pile for Christmas. I wrapped it without opening the plastic wrapper.
It was a Disney themed one. While I was there in the parks in December I saw what I thought I purchased. Funny enough while there, DH picked out one in a different color and I bought that one too.
We finally do our Christmas on like the 29th. The tank was a crop top! Back it went to Disney. I'm waiting on my refund. Luckily I still had the packing slip because I needed it. It was labeled as adult size but there's no way.

I've always hated people which is funny because I've always worked in a customer service position. I've never liked them, I've just always known how to deal with them. I'm also good at politely/professionally saying "Fuck you, pay me."

One mind calming trick that seems to work for me is gratitude. Instead of focusing/praying/meditating on everything that has gone wrong or become difficult, I meditate on all the good things that have already been given to me. When I can't sleep, I start listing what I am grateful for. With just a little practice, you quickly see that there are many more people and things in the good column than in the difficult column. That helps me with perspective.
I have always been quick to jump emotionally into other people's problems. It has taken me many years to learn to sit back and mind my own business. My DH told me years ago that there are things that happen to me and things that happen to others around me. I needed to learn the difference for my own well being.

I read something many years back. It said you can be as happy as you want to be. Changed my life totally. Taking something like that to heart really works.
Funny, we look for all the big ways to improve our lives and some times it's just so simple. Hope that works for you Pink.
On that note, night all. Up at 8 for DD to get ready to get mammograms.
