Pink is there any equity in Mister’s parents house? Could it be sold and used to pay for an assisted living apartment for them both? No. His Dad refinanced it earlier this year, using the equity to clean up a financial mess. And kept doing the same stuff that got him in the mess in the first place. The mortgage is behind now too. Pink, doesn't Mister’s brother live in Dad's house? I can't help but think that has contributed to Dad and Mom's financial issues.

Pink, it all makes much more sense understanding the boundaries issues Mister has had with his family. Of course, they will push back. Of course, he will feel badly used. You've done a lot of good for this man. Thank you for saying that. By the time I met him, I’d recognized that I had boundary issues with my own family and started working on them. I’d also just been working on myself period, because of all the stuff that had happened during those awful few years of my life. I’d finally bought the book “Boundaries” that I kept seeing mentioned around here, and would still go back and read parts of it again when I needed a “refresher” lol. That is probably why I was able to easily see Mister’s boundary issues even when we were just friends, because I’d been working on my own boundaries during the prior few years. If we’d met before then, before I’d spent time been working on me and my own growth, we would’ve never have gotten to where we are now, or anywhere close. I bought him a copy of the book while we were just FWB. Since then, I’ve bought both my children copies. I’ve told at least 1 friend that she needed to read it. He’s bought copies for his Mom and his brother. All because posters here kept mentioning it and when I did finally buy and read it, it helped me so much that I started recommending it and buying it for people I thought it could help lol.

Mister wanted ribs from some place one of his employees had brought ribs from last week and let him taste it. So we went and got that a little while ago. He’s gone now to take his Dad to spend the night at the hospital with his Mom. We will probably turn some music on this evening, and hang out and try to stay awake until midnight lol. The girls and Kiddo are spending the evening with their Moms, so it will just be Mister and I tonight. In case I don’t get back here tonight, Happy New Year everyone! I hope and pray that 2023 is a better year for all of us that have gone through some stuff in 2022. For those that 2022 was a pretty good year for, I still hope and pray that 2023 is even better!

Pink, doesn't Mister’s brother live in Dad's house? I can't help but think that has contributed to Dad and Mom's financial issues. Yes, and it has. Which is one thing Mister has gotten upset about since his Dad started leaning on him so heavily for money. He is not at all interested in enabling his parents to continue enabling his brother. I completely understand that, because that’s exactly how I use to feel about my Mom and my brother. And that is part of the reason Mister insisted a couple months ago that his Dad give him access to his bank accounts to see what was really going on, and then insisted his Dad give him his debit card once he saw what the real situation was.

I'm in for the night. Just got an adult beverage. I also could have sworn I had some frozen blackeyed peas that I grew over the summer, but I guess we ate them all. I have some dried ones now soaking.
It's been a weird year. Not necessarily bad or good, just weird.

I'm already over the broadcasts tonight. I'd be okay with Andy and Anderson being sober, except that insufferable woman that was on when I first tuned in. I had to look her up. and now I know, I have no need to see Amy Sedaris in anything. 👎👎
this said, I'm kind of whining bc I feel like we could all just go to bed now. there's no booms bc it's drizzly. whatever.

We're in from dinner and in our jammies. Not a prayer we'll stay awake until 12 although the crazy fireworks will wake us up.
I hope 2023 brings peace and fulfillment to everyone here. I am truly grateful for the support and wisdom you all offer.

Got to watch it. Ate a banana split last night and cooked a good dinner tonight.
I had a turkey roast, home made noodles, corn, gravy, and mashed potatoes. The noodles were really good, even hubs said so and I ate to many of them over the sliced turkey. Yummy, we didn't have turkey for Christmas so did for NYears Eve. I sliced the other half, hubs said we can have sandwiches, and put what was left over in the noodles. Likely dinner tomorrow night too, So now going to have to watch what I'm eating for about a week.
We are going to get the car on Tuesday, so that will be good. That will be over with. The lady gave us the car fax and it's had 2 owners and looks like maintenance was done, but it's old, so who knows. I put some Christmas decorations away today, Monday taking down the tree and outside decorations. I like them but its time I guess.
Monday supposed to be 60 and raining, Tuesday 65, wow, and partly sunny. Just maybe I will trim back the rose bushes and clean up the tomato patch in the garden, if half way nice. The next day 39, brrrrr.
I thought about going to a movie today but decided not too. Not motivated enough I guess.

Just put DD2 to bed. Getting ready to clean up downstairs and put the remaining Christmas cookies in the freezer. Afterwards, I’m going to head upstairs and see if DH and DD1 wants to play a game or start a puzzle.

Oh awesome. Another winter storm supposed to hit us starting Monday night into Tuesday. Just when we're all supposed to be going back to work/school. DS hasn't driven much in snow the past few years and starts at 6am. Geeze. We're above freezing. It's supposed to hit 50+ on Tuesday.

Happy New Year everyone! I don't know if I will make it to midnight but I might. We won't. "Babylon" turned out to be most bizarre but an intelligent movie- just not what I expected. We're back in the house with an elegant New Year's Eve dinner from Taco Bell.

Wait, are they just sober right now, or sober for the night? Things usually get more entertaining as they get less sober throughout the night lol. I am hearing fireworks. Sometimes Newbie barks when she hears them. Which is odd, because Newbie does not bark much. So little, that when she does bark, I stop whatever I’m doing and try to see why she’s barking. I remember after we got her, Mister and I sitting on the deck with her and OG on some holiday night, and people started popping fireworks. Newbie literally climbed into Mister’s lap, and Mister is not a small man, but she is not a small dog either, so she didn’t exactly fit lol. So she clearly does not like the sound of fireworks, even though they don’t scare her as much anymore, as they did that first time.

I mean, you could see it from your house if you didn't live in the woods. I need to get better about fitness too. I mean, I still go to the gym 4 days most weeks, but the intensity of my workouts has changed. I also need to step away from my desk and take a walk on lunch like I used to do. My step count isn't anything like it used to be. I'm nowhere near pre covid andi in regards to fitness. hey! there's also a hill between my house and there... 🤪 that said, some separation with the pups will be a good thing, for them. I think I was gone 3h this morning, and they jumped on me like they had never seen before when I got home 🙄 Then it's confirmed, my dogs DGAF about me. I can be gone a week and they just look at me and nod as if to say "sup".

I feel this. My parents aren't asking me for money but my sister has always lived at home and doesn't pay any rent. I've told them that there will come a time when they will have to come live with me and she's not invited. When they moved into their current house, she was pregnant with my 20 yo nephew who now has his own apartment. At some point my sister needs to get it together. It pisses me off. If I was helping pay bills and she wasn't, we'd have a serious problem.

The TV is up extremely loud to hopefully drown out the booms. Happy 2023 y'all!

I read some article this morning about how since so many people are "sober curious" that CNN was going to lead by example. I think that's how they put it. but yah. no shots on camera this year, and likely nothing at all for Anderson the lightweight.

Reading you all talking about humidifiers, I ordered one about an hour ago, and chose a dual mist. I just picked one and ordered it from the Honeywell store. Otherwise, I’d be fiddle faddling for forever trying to choose one lol. I’ve never had a humidifier because I was always afraid it would be a chore keeping it clean. I know you do have to keep it clean, but idk why it got stuck in my head that it was difficult and time consuming. ETA: I went with Honeywell because I have 2 Honeywell air purifiers and I like them. Otherwise I would’ve went down a rabbit hole about brands and such lol I know myself well enough to know that I'm not going to break down a humidifier often to clean it, so I put bacteriostatic treatment in with every fill. If my furnace ever dies beyond me being able to fix it I'm going to replace it with one with a whole house humidifier. I am so sick of filling mine every day. It runs non-stop and I add at least 4 gallons of water a day.
We got furnace humidifier this summer. Loving it!

Pink - you're processing some deep, complex stuff esp with all the relationships involved. It's kinda like reading a prequel of what things could be like with my mil or heck even my mom.
I'd be tempted to leave a mortgage statement or college bill out in plain sight for FIL to accidentally find. Might not register but at least would give me a feeling of trying to combat the open wallet feeling.

Felt bad yesterday with sinus headache all day. DH had it day before. Feeling better this morning.
Made it about 10 pm watching football, then woke up to see the end of the Georgia Ohio state game right at midnight. I graduated from school that is supposed to be rival of UGA, but my youngest graduated from UGA, so I was pretty happy with outcome.
