Kids were up at 1am for medicine dose (both were at 102) but temperatures were normal this morning! DD2's crept up to almost 100 around lunchtime, but they look a lot better and have more energy today. We are still hanging out at home and will continue to do so all week. I'm glad they are feeling better! I hope they continue to improve.

DH suggested "we" make some deer jerky while we are both off. Ummmmm, we both work Thursday. Guess who just finished cutting up meet and getting it into the marinade?
Good news is the chest freezer is now only about 2/3 full. I can easily empty it to defrost it soon. Need to order the replacement gasket for the door.

I uncovered the one outdoor plant and the potted ones in the shop. The outdoor plant looks pretty good but some of the ones in the shop have some frozen parts. I'm washing the sheets we used for covers. DH took the covers off the outside spigots so we could water some plants and refill the bird baths

alright, I got three posters hung up in the hallway and the larger frame hung up in the reading nook where I never expected to hang it. I still need to figure out where I want to hang the other frames, they are all in black frames and I don't have a lot of those up in this house. the posters are all the same size and levelled in a row, the wall wasn't large enough to do a gallery wall with what I have. what's left is smaller, though, so I can pack them up til the next place if need be. but what i did hang looks fantastic!

Taking advantage of the large outdoor freezer, just defrosted my upright. any recommendations on freezers? you, or anyone else? I started looking at them this morning. its just me, and two dogs that eat fresh food. I don't think I need a big upright, I did okay with a small chest freezer* in the last house once I got all of mooch's ice packs he never used, out of the way. *I sold this and a full-sized fridge/freezer that were in the basement, to the buyer so I didn't have to move them.

They make smaller uprights, which is what I always recommend. The chest ones are ok if you use a sort of basket system, otherwise stuff ends up buried at the bottom. I've seen uprights at Lowes that are not much taller than the chest freezers.

I can’t stop with the sweets! I made butter tarts earlier with dough I had leftover from yesterday. And now I just made a pan of Honey Treats (used Honey Bunches of Oats instead of Rice Crispy cereal), I needed to use up the marshmallows that I didn’t use for Thanksgiving.

After looking at the cost to replace the gasket on our over 25 year old small chest freezer, I am now eyeballing a 6 or 6.5 cubic ft upright. The tallest one at Lowes is around 55 inches and is less wide than the chest. Lowes has a GE for under $500 - our upright is a taller GE bought from lowes about 11 years ago. ETA - For your needs, you may be happy with a chest, especially for the price.

Gwen got three new tops and some charms for her Crocs. I bought her underwear and her Nike socks.
I got myself a super cute cardigan that has a forest scene on the bottom. It was 40% off at my favorite store.
I dropped off the opal ring to be repaired and resized. FIL gave us each $100 for Christmas so I'm putting it towards the ring. It'll be ready in two weeks.

I've done as little as possible all day. I did laundry but seeing as it's all still downstairs, that didn't require a lot of effort. I also did some rearranging of the cat group storage, I'm the storage keeper, as we received a bunch of donations. I should do something useful but not really feeling it. At least I get to work from home tomorrow as the Brat goes for a re-check on her eyes. Sadly, I think she'll need another round of cryotherapy but we shall see.

I have been taking down the decorations. There is no one to see them except Penny and me, and we are tired of them. So much of it has to be washed like linens and glassware, etc.
When I have company, I always wash the sheets after they leave. That's where body oils, dead skin cells, etc. will accumulate. I don't wash the blankets until the end of the season. I don't wash the comforters at all because we don't use them except to make the bed. I throw them into the dryer on low once a year to get the dust off.
I wouldn't skip washing the sheets.

This week is so much about back to reality with grocery store, haircut, bookkeeping, light bulb replacement, pickup dry cleaning, and more on the schedule. And just the teeny-tiniest possibility that the &*$#!) from the generator company will show up Thursday and fix it. Maybe, just maybe, I'm going to get brave and upgrade the computer to Windows 11

She's still in the hospital. The doctor she had yesterday told her she'd probably go home tomorrow. The one she got today said it would be another couple of days. She obviously wants out sooner than later. We'll see.

WWYD - 3 people in my house tested positive for Covid yesterday. Mine and DD1’s symptoms started yesterday. Not sure on DH’s. He didn’t feel great on Friday but thought it was something else. He only tested because I tested positive. On Tuesday night, DH and I went to my department’s Christmas dinner and say by my boss (who’s pregnant with twins). On Wednesday, I went to my company’s Christmas party in the early afternoon. On Friday evening, we got word that a kid at DD2’s daycare had tested positive for Covid that night (the kid was there during the day symptom free). I’m not sure if it’s a kid in DD2’s room (that wasn’t told to us). Should I tell my boss that 3 in my family have Covid? FWIW, I’m on PTO this week so I wasn’t going in anyway. I would better safe than sorry. Especially if she's pregnant.

There is a thing going around where you stitch on 12 new projects on New years eve. Could I? Well, sure. I could. I have enough in stash that I probably would have to buy very little. Should I? Well....that is the issue now.

While I (very lazy person here) was sort of hoping for bagged, pre-washed and chopped collard greens for my New Year's Day black-eyed peas, I was happy to settle for nice looking whole ones I'll wash, devein and chop myself. It's going to be tasty Neighbor brought over some chocolates filled with Bailey's Irish Cream. DH is very happy camper
