I still haven't found anything much for DH. He bought himself an apple watch (on my target card) and I was thinking about covering that for Christmas. He doesn't really ask for much. And anything I get him ends up tucked away, anyway.
I bought directly off dh's Amazon list which seems kind of lame. Wool socks, t-shirt, and replacement espresso cups. He's getting wool boxers from my folks so there might be a theme. Nothing very personal, but that's not possible every year imo.

I panic Christmas shopped last night and am mostly done after deciding the liquor store was the best place for most of the gifts. I'm taking my computer home with me tonight and hunkering down for the next 3 days while this crap goes through.
Is it supposed to be bad for you?
We're down to 4" of snow over the next 24 hours Some wind, but not what I consider blizzard wind.
We're under a Winter Storm Warning. This is the latest:
.A winter storm will impact the region from this afternoon into Saturday. The storm will produce snow this afternoon and continue into Thursday morning. Northwest winds are expected to increase Thursday and continue into Saturday. The strongest winds will occur Thursday night through Friday, with gusts up to 50 mph. This will cause blizzard and whiteout conditions especially west of the Mississippi River. Wind chill values will be from minus 20 to minus 40 from Thursday into the holiday weekend.
...TRAVEL THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT COULD BE IMPOSSIBLE AND LIFE-THREATENING... I'm hearing 6-10 inches of snow, but that's not really going to be the issue. It's the blowing and drifting. We already had a foot on the ground before this stuff coming so plenty to blow around.

Some people really are better off choosing their own gifts. My Ex was like that. Nothing I bought him as a surprise was ever a success. I found it pretty un-romantic to buy him something he told me to buy, but at least I knew it was something he wanted. Unfortunately, he didn't like surprising me, either- preferred that I tell him what I wanted. I like surprise gifts.

Right?!? Can’t believe I wasted all that time on Amazon! Brother, brother-in-law, my mom, my stepmom, my stepdad, sister, sister-in-law. LOL I was there late at night so the place was pretty empty. The lady working there was like "doing a little Christmas shopping?", I said, "No, just having a rough week at work". You forgot me!

We'll be lucky if we get any snow, but still a predicted high of 2 degrees tomorrow. They're waiting till noon to advise if school will be open tomorrow but we're already committed to today being the last day before break.
My mom's cousin talks about he and his brothers getting frostbite walking to school in sub zero temperatures back in the good old days and my mom talks about how parents used to just show up to take kids home (or not send them) for bad weather. Eventually the teacher would just read aloud to anyone left.
I need to add more shavings for the chickens today to help them stay warm. Our coop is probably a little too big for them, but hopefully they get through it ok.

My 2 main gifts were supposed to arrive tomorrow (Thursday). We get together and celebrate on Saturday. When I checked the FedEx delivery tracking today, it says they'll be delivered on Monday. I'm not a happy camper. Oh, that sucks! Any possibility you could get them a little earlier by picking them up in person? Fingers crossed the tracking is wrong. Nope. They're on a refrigerated truck. I hope the tracking is wrong. I really hope it's wrong. I thought having 2 extra days, would be enough, that I wouldn't have to worry.

I'm confused. If you've let it go, why bring it up? You yourself have said you wouldn't move your mom in with you. You've also said you don't have a problem with him being there. What's the point of an "I'm better than you" conversation? Or is it just to be "toxic"? If it were my dh the point would be to explain the entitlement and double standard to try to prevent it in the future. I've had some luck. Dh at least knows that uttering "not my problem" about my problems will find him wishing they were his. I see. Thanks!

We've changed on the weather front too. Yesterday we were all going to die in a blizzard. Now it's snowing today and just really fucking cold tomorrow. Depending on roads I might be late tomorrow but probably going in. Same! Now it's just going to be 2-4". Up until yesterday we were getting a blizzard. The chance of precipitation is going down. It was at 90% and now is 80%. I'm hoping that means we stay closer to the 2" side of things.

It's been a morning -
Started about 12;30 Am when someone ordered Door Dash and they attempted to deliver to me instead of the apartment complex next door. I was sleeping pretty well before that happened. -- I am going to have to put the sign up again.
Really tired and want a nap sooo bad but I am dealing with paperwork instead. The headache I have had for the last few days is much better but still present due to weather (I hope).
What does your sign say? Do Not Leave Food - Not my Order I took it down due to planning on putting up a door wreath and that just did not happen. -- I figure it's the complex next to us and people are not reading our numbers. But they are night owls and I would find food on the front step when I would leave or they knock and it's always after midnight when that happens.

My nephew is getting cologne and cash.

I've never ordered food delivery, so when I got a late knock and saw bags outside my door, I was really confused. Then a man who didn't speak English came back and tried to speak to me. When he pointed at the bags and asked a question, I said no. He wasn't happy. But at least he knew it wasn't delivered to the correct address.

I am so sunk at work. It is shocking how many other folks can afford to take time off and so much of it. Being sick for two days shouldn't put me this behind.

As I mentioned yesterday, we will be in Cancun, Mexico for 5 days for the New Year with friends of ours. Doggie daycare will be shared by my Kids and my in-laws. We have a fenced backyard, and my in-laws have a fenced backyard. If my one dog does not get walked, he sometimes will decide to go on a run/walk himself even if it is freezing cold outside. I am thinking they need a second set of tags with Grandma and Grandpa's addy on it, and some kind of Bluetooth tracking tag. I think there are some made specifically for dogs- has anyone used something like this for their pets?
My Son lives just a few blocks from my in-laws and DD said she could stay at my house for a few days. She will also have to feed her Rabbits every day, but I am sure it is going to be very cold and possibly snowy - so idk how far my dogs will get walked. My Teddy bear will be ok either way, but the Schnauzer needs to walk every day. Because I know I have to walk the dogs every day, I have 2 long down coats and heavy gloves and mittens, and now I even have a pair of heated gloves. Idk if DD will wear my coats or not as she is about 2 sizes smaller than me.
I have something like IBS, when I recently looked at a list of foods to avoid if you have IBS, it was something like Milk, Corn, Sugar, Wheat. I am lactose intolerant, have avoided sugar since I was about 25, although I have not eliminated it entirely, and within the last few years, decided I have very adverse reactions to corn. I do not eat anything with corn or high fructose corn syrup in it. The idea of eating 3 meals a day for 5 days made by someone other than me or DH makes me pretty nervous. I should probably start intermittent fasting before the trip, so I get used to eating less often.

We are working on cleaning up things, trash going out. I just cleaned out the fridge, we will bring in food. Will have luncheon meat we can eat tomorrow.
I'm just trying to get everything cleaned up before we go. Don't want to come home to spoiled and stinky junk all over.

We keep getting a warning from Alaska Airlines about the weather between here and Seattle each time I sign in. Keeps saying could be delays for cancellations. I hope not, but son said they have problems up there at times.
And I called in my nitro pills because these are expired. I've never had to use them but doc says carry them with me. I told her specifically send to Walmart, so of course this insurance I am getting rid of is doing them mail order!! I am so glad they are going, damn. So I kept the others and hope I don't have to use them. So darn aggravating. Don't think I'm messing with mail order. It comes fine BUT you just can't make any changes to it.

I’m weighing my options. Two nights of -47 to -51 C lows was too much for the vehicles so I don’t have a ride to work
My choices are:
- Wait around and hope things warm up enough for the van to be boosted and start - Call a cab which probably won’t get here for a couple of hours and pay 2 or 3 hours of pay to get to work - Combo walk/bus which will be either two 10 minute walks and 1.5 bus ride or one 20 and one 10 minute walk and a one hour bus ride. Assuming the buses are running their usual schedules
I have my work computer with me so I can do a couple of things while I’m waiting. However a software change by work’s internet provider and another by Windows means that we can’t log on to the server out of office.
Thank god payroll was completed yesterday

School is canceled for tomorrow!!! I'm so jealous of my kids. Lol. Our schools are off for Christmas break already anyhow. I'm taking my computer home with me tonight so I don't have to drive in the crud tomorrow, then I am off until January 3rd!
Well...sort of...I'll still have to run data next week and keep everything updated or the first week of January will be a nightmare, but my customer's company shuts down for the week, so no deadlines or putting together the weekly 45 slide power point presentation for them.

We are not closing campus it remains open because "people have flexibility now". Yeah except lab people.
If the side roads are cleared I can get in even if it cold. I've been running the car today so it should be fine tomorrow. I am used working for employers where if I die it better be trying to come into work and then my ghost still better show up on time. So I'm not nearly as pissed about not shutting down as some people are.
Dress appropriately and get the car started early so it can run a few minutes before I start driving. At least now my commute is 5 minutes instead of 30 minutes through the hell known as Midtown.

it must be almost shark week in the next day or so, I've been snacking on anything not nailed down today. fantastic, that means it will also be shark week on the cruise next month. ugh. at least it's a 5 day trip this year, so maybe I'll be spared for part of it.

We got the paperwork signed for the house. It may close as early as this week we'll see.
Apparently the nursing home has been going around me and started bugging the realtor instead. She finally told them to F off they needed to talk to the lawyer. They have been snooping around wanting to know how much the house sold for. She said that is private information between the seller and the buyer. Oh well they have "the right" to know. No no you don't.
So my instinct about not leaping to meet with this guy was spot on. He's apparently a "Bob" like in the movie Office Space according to our insider information. He is there to "reorganize" the place. But it looks like he's just as shady as any other person in this business.
The lawyer is going to take care of the back pay I don't even have to touch it which is nice. Then I go back to signing checks until she runs out again and we start all over again.

I found a bag from Pet Smart that had a bunch of dog toys in it tucked away in a drawer. So they are now Penny's Christmas toys. Do you think she will care that they are obviously from an after-Easter sale? There's a bunny and a carrot and a lamb! I put all her gifts (the toys plus two bags of snacks) into a gift bag from last year. Then I had to put it behind everyone else's because Miss Nosy wants to know what all those boxes are for! Yes, I have become one of those dog "parents" without DH to rein me in. It isn't entirely my fault. Since adults don't exchange gifts, my kids' family each give Penny a present as does my sister and my cousin.

I got DS's car home last night and am $1200 poorer for it. I should just wrap up the receipt from the shop and put it in his Christmas stocking.
