I tuned in to Sunday Night Baseball for some reason. I just need to go to bed, but pups. riddle me this, though - can any baseball fan explain what the focus is on Aaron Judge surpassing Roger Maris? bc this media obsession is well past absurd, esp since Maris' HR record was already broken. nobody cares. Chiver, I think the obsession about Aaron Judge breaking Roger Maris' HR record is that Roger Maris still holds the AL record for most homers in a season, the other homers were in the NL and true Barry Bonds holds the MLB record but Roger Maris is the AL holder, but I'm not sure if that is what the obsession is.

Oh, no! Fiona worked her destructive way up the Maritime coast, and you should see the damage! OMG! Houses were ripped off their foundations and floated out to sea. People were washed out of their homes and we've had a few deaths.

What I do is leave the cat carriers sitting in the living room a day or two. The cats go in and out of them and lay in them. Climb all over them, when I need to take them they easily go in. It's when they get in the vets office is when it gets hairy.
My Black would cry but I put her next to me in the car and stuck my fingers through the bars where she could touch them and she would calm right down. You can also buy a carrier with a place for water and food storage in the top of it.
I took a bunch of summer light weight tops downstairs and brought up a bunch of long sleeved tops and sweaters. I'm washing them all, they were clean when put down there but likely dusty now. And though I never see any down there, then I'm sure there are no spiders in them. That is my one phobia, spiders, can't stand them. Most are size large, a few XL but they look smaller, I hope I can wear them. Been buying medium and small. I don't want to have to buy more of these. I have a bunch of cashmere ones that are small enough but the cleaning bills for those are high. I try to wear them a few times before doing that. If not for the kitties, I could wash and block them to dry. They would likely sleep on them. I can wear them at home and if need be get a few that are fitted to wear out.
Those Starfish P/M pants from Lands End fit DD perfectly, I have 2 pair for her black and blue. I only saw brown last time, hope they have more colors. She said they are comfortable and they look good on her.
Washing my last load of sweaters and tops, hope I get them dry before bed. There's a lot more down there but have plenty up here for a while. Still have shorts and light weight pants to take down but likely can wear those for a bit longer.

Good morning, industrious invisipeeps, toiling at your jobs and homes. Welcome to Monday. I hope your day flows easily and lightly and leaves you ahead of your goals. Today DH and I are going to listen to a talk about an heroic rescue at sea at the public library. DH is a history buff and I always enjoy a good story, so this should be interesting. We almost made it to the UU church here yesterday but in the end were too tired. I had a nagging headache most of the day. Next weekend we'll be driving to Maryland, so will miss the service again. The Unitarian church here is very special. It is made of stone and has towers and turrets, like an historic European church might. Franklin the Dog and I did make it down to the beach before dawn yesterday, in time to see this:

the others operated under the rules at the time. I'm also just sick of listening to Yankees this, Judge that. especially . after the NY media throwing him under the bus last year or the year before, as "not being able to handle the NY market" just, enough. NY isn't the be all, end all for baseball. and if there's an issue with the record holders? wipe the records. 🤷♀️ I’m not real clear on how you feel on the subject. Care to elaborate Oh, and to set the record straight I couldn’t have said it any better. Boooo!

Today I think I'm going to make a cream cheese poblano dip I saw a recipe for on tik tock. It looked pretty good. I think we have one more Walmart run today and T1 should be all set up in her new apartment. She better get ready early because the Chiefs play today and I want to watch it. Please share the recipe. I picked up some beautiful poblanos at the farmers market today. Here you are. I didn't make it yet. Let me know how yours comes out. www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRmRUaKH/

Thanks. DH just laughed. I would post the quote here, but it is really immature, and I'd like to not embarrass myself.
I can be crass with DS, in a way that I am not with the girls. I am going to really miss that.

I'm not a mom but I know my mom was a wreck when I left for college and an even bigger wreck when I headed to Boulder, Colorado for grad school. When my sister's youngest left for college, she got a dog I'm thinking you won't need a dog to replace DS.

Yesterday, Mister didn’t have to work, but he was already up and out of bed before I got up to go to work. He said he was up so early because his Mom called him. She is still in the hospital and has been pretty much “out of it” and unresponsive, the whole time. So her calling him was a very big deal. He said she told him that she knew his Dad had been telling them she was okay, but in reality, she was very far from okay. She said she saw her sisters, and they told her it wasn’t time yet for her to go, and that motivated her to keep fighting. She said Mister’s niece (7 or 8yo and the most charming child I’ve ever met) drew her a picture and that motivated her to keep fighting, for her Grandbaby. She has no reason to lie to Mister, and he has no reason to lie to me about what she said. All I can do is pray that she keeps seeing reasons to fight to live. She has to go to a rehabilitation place or something because they have started dialysis since she’s been in the hospital. Mister is not getting good info from his Dad, which I’ve mentioned before. I don’t work on 2 weekdays and wouldn’t mind going to the hospital to be with her and get a better idea of what exactly is going on with her. But I’m use to trying to stay in my lane with Mister’s family and idk how that would be received. So I just keep praying for her. I admire how carefully you balance your 'in-laws', but may I suggest that you visiting likely helps more than it could hurt. 'MIL' could probably use an unbiased sounding board to vent to after all she's been through. Plus, you could take the opportunity to see if there's anything she needs that her boys might be forgetting, especially as she heads to rehab. Does she need someone to purchase nice comfy loungewear for example? A nice scented lotion is usually welcome in the hospital. Dry hands and it can help mask the overwhelming hospital smell. Also chapstick. A card with a sweet note that says something simple about how much you admire the man she raised - this could be priceless in those down moments when she's sitting alone. Plus, these are items that if they get lost in the shuffle don't really matter.

Here in the Lou, it's all about Pujols making it to 700. Also pretty poetic that he, Wainwright and Yadi are able to finish together. Wish I had more time to follow the Cardinals - someday when more of my time is truly my own.

Plus, these are items that if they get lost in the shuffle don't really matter. The nurse told me that deep conditioning hair masks and/or detangler spray are deeply appreciated. Your hair gets so matted when lying in a hospital all day and your scalp can become really sensitive which makes brushing difficult. Grooming goes out the window when a patient is critical but once they start to improve she said they like to help them regain that dignity. She said it improves mood and helps reestablish a sense of routine/normalcy.

I am guessing you are looking for an answer other than he's a Yankee? I know the last couple of months ago he was planning to go free agent, but I thought I heard the Yanks re-signed him. I can't help more than that. I only watch the O's and do not pay much attention to the rest of baseball. Football is another story.

I watched each of the Red Sox's playoff games and then every game in the Series in 2004, and ever since have not felt the irritation I'd held for the NYY. It's a good thing, too; DH grew up mostly in NY. He/we watch most games. I'm enough of a fan of the sport to not care particularly what team a truly great batter or pitcher is on. It's a pleasure enough just to see them play. That's how I feel about Judge. A truly great team is an entity beyond its players.

I got to uber to work today. It was a completely different way than I would have gone to get to work so a interesting way to see scenery. Really hope the car is back up and running today.
Thank goodness the tranny work is still under warranty.

I don't mean to continue beating this dead horse lol... I did get a chuckle out of Judge being in the on-deck circle last night when the game was called for rain.

How far away is he going? Can you visit each other often? Very far. It's about a 14 hour car drive... His program is 9 months long, and then he'll come back. Unless he doesn't make it. Then his program is 12 weeks long. And he'll come back. A good number of his friends are going to tech school in town, or planning to come back after their 4 year degree. He has a friend who is hoping to be able to student teach back here, rather than where he's in school. ETA: He gets a week off at Christmas, so we'll probably look at getting a flight for him then. Otherwise, no. We won't be able to visit. There's just not enough hours at in the day with the other kids. And for the first time in 18 years, we will have kids that HAVE to participate in activities on Saturday. DD1 will have girls bb practice. The peanut will have martial arts team practice.

Looks like we are back on schedule. TD was called in to work today, they actually have something for him to do. I made coffee, let Harriet out to pee, fed her and got dressed. As soon as coffee is drunk, I need to go pick up Sheldon, then hit the grocery store.
My washer is doing weird things. I have a couple loads to run today and may be calling the Maytag repair man. It’s 11 years old, so who knows if it is fixable.

I’ll talk to him when he gets home from work and offer to go sit with her tomorrow. She is very private, so I don’t think she’d want me to see her not at her best. All I can do is offer. I do like the idea of a care package. I think I’ll make one for her regardless. Thank you for mentioning it. I saw Drama listed some other items under this post. I’m not good at this kind of thing, so if you think of anything else I can add, please tell me. Mister’s Dad is retired and has been practically living at the hospital since she’s been there, so she’s not by herself much.

If her kids are afraid of dogs why would she have multiple big dogs in her house? Also, why would she think it was ok to take yet another one to scare them? WtF kind of person does that?! I’m not sure why you assumed her intention was to scare them. In reality she was hoping they wouldn’t be afraid of him since he’s so little. And by “live with”, I meant on their property. Not having free run of the house, or even necessarily inside the house at all. So their dogs are outside dogs? Doesn't it get very hot where you live? What do they do with them when it is hot or cold?

Mister's dad needs a break. We had to make dad go home when mom was hospitalized. She was very sick but she knew he needed to get some sleep. She didn't care if he was there all day but wanted him home at night to sleep.
Had my 5th Covid vaccine and flu shot this morning. We shall see how bad this makes me feel. Last one I was only tired, very tried besides the sore arm.
Kitties were very happy to sleep with mom in the bed last night. I went to bed quite early which probably accounts for my waking up at 4:30 AM. Cats didn't wake me. I just woke up. After peeing, I went back to sleep until 6:30 AM. So that was good.
