I have a dental appointment today. I haven't been in a few years, and I have a tooth I know is going to be problematic.
I'd rather go through chemo than go see the dentist.

Home from work today. DW got in a bike accident Monday. She came home all scraped up, no clue what happened. She kept asking if the bike was ok, over and over. I took her to the hospital and they gave her a CT scan. Fortunately no problems were found so it’s just a concussion. The rest of her memory came back, the next morning thankfully, she was like a goldfish that night. She still can’t remember what happened that day. Doesn’t even remember biking, where she went, how she got home or what. Very scary. That is very scary! Hope she heals soon.

Good morning, unflagging invisipeeps of Y Ma'am. I hope you enjoy an excellent Wednesday wherever you are, and that no one gets hurt but all you love make progress.
Had a good day again yesterday. After running some errands we went down to the water and DH for the first time walked on the hurricane barrier. It's paved and level, where Franklin the Dog and I go every evening. Nothing to trip up DH. He wants next time to bring his new 4-footed cane and walk down the path to the small beach on that side. The large beach with lifeguards is at the other end.
Today is rainy, so rare this summer that it's a surprise to have to take it into consideration. Good day for inside work.

I know just what you mean. Since childhood I've been a bit phobic about dentists.

I'm going to take a break for a bit to ponder stuff. I think the world of everyone here, but sometimes looking at what others have financially is just tough. We worked hard every day and sacrificed a lot, but we'll never be even close to the same place as most here. I'm not jealous, I just struggle to be positive and happy in my little place and space if I spend too much time with folks in better situations so I'm going to stay in my lane for a while. Hugs to all that need them. I came to the boards through the Smart Spending threads and to be honest I miss them. I forget her name but she wrote articles about how to live on next to nothing and have a comfy home, tasty meals and travel every once in a while. My financial planning is at least as much frugal living as earning and investing but there aren't as many of us around that enjoy writing about that. I don't earn as much or have as much saved as most here, but I also don't seem to have the same kinds of expenses. I also hope soupandstew stays around. I enjoy her posts.

I don't have extreme dread but it's not my favorite place. I was sitting in the chair this week thinking I should have brought earbuds to listen to music. Totally left myself a note on next year's appt.

And it's up and she got everything she wanted... 1. Modern US history 2. Journalism 1 3. Foundations of Acting 4. Spanish 1 5. Algebra 1 6. Chemistry 7. Honors English 1
They use block scheduling. Are we crazy for skipping study hall? Journalism is what we snuck in instead because she's a writer and currently wants to do something Englishy as a career. She's a great student.
She loves history, should be good at Spanish, Acting shouldn't be much hw, journalism writing shouldn't be lengthy and she writes for fun, she'll have to work at Algebra and Chem.

Depends on the kid. My oldest never took study hall in high school, but they don't get much for electives. In order to get in all the classes he needed and stay in band (which he didn't want to quit) he almost had to. He didn't need that hour of study time. Carrot I foresee being a different story, but we have a couple years to go before high school.

I'm still learning your story and as Pink said I learn so much from different perspectives here so I'd hate to lose you as I do notice your posts. I think we're a safe space to share if there's something specific you're struggling with. I sincerely apologize if any of my posts are to blame. I've risen in my career the last decade but consciously try to hold on to where I came from. Sometimes I sit in meetings with my privileged colleagues and think they have no clue about real life.

I think it just depends. DD1 has a study hall, I think. But, she's also taking geometry, Spanish 2, honors English and Honors history. I think she's going to do sports year long..She's got volleyball starting next week (it starts this week, but she is on NYLT staff this week..so gone), which will take her to cheer tryouts. If she doesn't make cheer, she'll probably try basketball and track. She also wants to do forensics. This is on top of cheer tumbling and scouts outside of school. She needs to figure out her eagle project and we need to get that done. And she would love to do elite (travel) cheer one year. She's close to getting her tumbling skills where they need to be. She also wants a job.
So, for her, I think it's OK if she does a study hall.

I also point out that I'm usually unhooking her fish and baiting her pole so my odds are much lower. Friendly trash talk!

Coffee. I have an early appt this morning for a badly needed haircut. TD is still sleeping, and want him to sleep as long as he can. I put peanuts out for the jays so they won’t start screaming for them and wake him up. Noisy, entitled birds!

girra your DD1 seems a very active and smart young lady! Actually, I worry about her more than DS. I don't want her to be burned out and gassed by the end of her sophomore year. The private school the kids go to also does the public school Spanish 1 curriculum in 8th grade. And lots of differentiated math. There's a few kids in her class that did Algebra in 7th and Geometry in 8th. It's never really been a thing. The kids start spanish in kindy...so it's a natural evolution.
We don't push her. I'm usually holding her back. Like this summer, I told her she's chilling. She also has some underlying anxiety, which we are looking at getting her help for. She's like Luisa from Encanto. But it's all internal pressure she is putting on herself.

This is not going well. They can't look in my mouth if I'm throwing up.... Ohh, I am so sorry. I think you need some anxiety meds. Are you at the dentist or at home? Eta: Congrats to Gwen! Glad your family is having a good time NMD! I am no help on the HS Schedules, but I think no study hall is ok. If it isn't working she should have a few weeks to change things up a bit. I think my DD did that a lot in HS. I hope Soup and Stew comes back. I am nearly in a panic rn b/c I worry we will be sidelined from working before we reach SS retirement/Medicare Eligibility. My DH and I don't have Pensions, but many of his family members do. DH thinks he can work forever, and I have been saving my wages for the last 15 years - what I earn pays for Taxes, Health Insurance, HSA, and 401K and Roth Contributions. Still, I think we only have a small fraction of what we need. I don't think DH and I will ever have the financial stability of some here, but I still enjoy their posts. and Ava, I thought of you when I went down to feed my Rabbits this am. They really belong to DD but she can't keep them. I consider my self alternately their "Mommy or their Grandma", but either one or both my Dogs come down in the am to "help" me feed the Rabbits. as I watched my Guardian Dog trot back up the stairs this am, I thought I totally could see my self resenting the Rabbits if they outlive my Doggies (and they most likely will). Hugs. Just know we all are thinking of you.

I had a light breakfast incase I wasn't coping well.
The funny thing, is the last time I had a huge gap, it was 20 year gap..and oh, I had some bad things going on. Part of it happened when I was pregnant. And i was like "lalalala" and didn't feel half the anxiety I should have then. I wish I could have whatever happy, feel good chemicals I got when I was pregnant all the time. I'd be like a little Sponge Bob.

No guarantee we will buy that house. We are looking. It was built in 1967. Just because it looks ok, does not mean it is. There is some reason they have lowered the price that much. Either desperation or difficulty getting a loan, or problems. We will find out. We do like the location, and the storage. But will only put $100k down till this place is sold and then pay off the remainder. Hubs said are you sure we can get a loan? Well if we can't I don't know who can, but no, there are no guarantees about that either. I like a lot of the stuff in the inflation act, we could do solar at the new place if we got it. If I read it right you can't get money back from the solar credit, only use it against taxes owed. Or that is the existing one. But lot of useful stuff in it, but still people have to have money to do it. A loan doesn't help much. We will see how that shakes out tomorrow, I would like to discuss it thoroughly, but if we are serious we likely need to make a decision quickly at that price. I was reading on Reddit last night that you should have a new roof or be replacing your roof as you sign the contract. Also you want a clause that they will remove/reinstall for nominal amount if roof needs replacement. And they said be careful to deal only with reputable companies. Go for it on the house. You can sell some rentals or make the new house a rental. Bet you can rent the Pole Barn if you needed to. I was thinking maybe it has Radon issues. The house DN bought last fall needed Radon Mitigation. He said the house he was living in also had it, as did nearly every house in tge area. The house had an accepted offer and the prior buyers walked over the Radon issue.

I'm not a dentist fan either, but make myself go every six months (actually I've switched to every 4 months now due to how bad I build up tarter). I have rarely had to have anything done though, so it's always been just cleanings. I'm doing a crown in September though. They tell me it's not a big deal but I'm not super excited about it. Haven't even had a filling for 38 years.

I would not be able to convert the bathtub in to a shower if I hadn't received a small inheritance from my parents. Most people here earn more in a year than my inheritance. Most of the time I am fine with it, but some posters definitely brag. I've learned to gloss over their posts.

Pondering why DN3's fiancee started a text conversation last night. She started out very confrontational and then started in on how I spend too much time with the Toddler and in my world, he is everything and her son is nothing.
I don't rarely see her son. I know she doesn't like DN1 and his wife.
She said she isn't allowed around the Toddler so I asked her if she was told that. After hemming and hawing, she finally said she put that restriction on herself.
I don't know why she started this last night.
I talk to the Toddler every week. I would be happy to do a video call with her son and them if they wanted. He is getting over a bad case of Covid. His dad refuses to allow him to be vaccinated. I really don't want him around me in person because of that.
Just needed to vent because it kept me awake trying to figure out where all this came from and what happened.

If soup ever read some of my earlier posts I am about as far from a true YMer as a poster can get.
I'm here because of the personal, as much as the internet can be, relationships I've built here. I've been hanging out since the MSN days.
I went through a phase where I was depressed and comparing myself to more successful posters.
I could certainly be better off but I could also be worse. I'll never achieve full YM status but I've still learned a lot.

I'm trying to be productive today. I'm succeeding personally, but have zero focus to do much professionally today. the dishwasher is running, laundry is well underway from the weekend, and I've got a pot of marinara simmering from the 2 cans of crushed tomatoes that didn't make it into the meatball pot on Saturday. when it cools, it's going straight into the freezer.
two weeks from today, I leave for Vancouver. I can't wait. K confirmed yesterday that she booked us spots on a sea plane tour on my actual birthday, that's going to be a blast. other than that, I don't know what all we're doing over the holiday weekend. she lives downtown, any recommendations for things I need to see/do?

I have a dental appointment today. I haven't been in a few years, and I have a tooth I know is going to be problematic.
I'd rather go through chemo than go see the dentist.
I have spent more time at the dentist recently than I care to. I still have another appointment next week. I don’t think it is so much the discomfort (even though my last treatment the discomfort has finally abated), but knowing it is going to cost. However, by my age, both of my parents had lost all of their teeth. I still have all of mine.
