I'm going to take a break for a bit to ponder stuff. I think the world of everyone here, but sometimes looking at what others have financially is just tough. We worked hard every day and sacrificed a lot, but we'll never be even close to the same place as most here. I'm not jealous, I just struggle to be positive and happy in my little place and space if I spend too much time with folks in better situations so I'm going to stay in my lane for a while. Hugs to all that need them.

ODS is driving from NJ to Sonoma California with the 2 dogs and a small uhaul. He called me about an hour before needing hotel and I reserved dog friendly hotel using points . Uhaul has a few things they’ll need before furniture movers arrive I have a plethora of points since we haven’t been traveling . So will repeat tomorrow
His MIL is also driving to California but with horse trailer and 2 goats! Ain’t no goat friendly hotels! So she is looking for hotels with big parking lots. She had already made reservation at a Red Roof inn and said it’s not great and she couldn’t park in the regular lot but there was one nearby
Horses are already in California and boarded in a gorgeous facility that is immaculate and even has chandeliers
DIL is doing very well. Her lungs are so much better and if she continues healthy she can have the heart valve replaced! We are so very hopeful that this year will be healthy and happy for them!

I'm about to round up the pups for last outs and call it a night. they have both been out cold since coming home from the groomer this afternoon, and I'm apparently keeping them awake.

I am so tired. I don’t even know how to explain my weird work travel schedule but august has been full of airports and hotels and working on the road. I really just need to make it through next week and things will settle down some. I haven’t traveled like this since 2019 and I do not remember it being so draining.

No guarantee we will buy that house. We are looking. It was built in 1967. Just because it looks ok, does not mean it is. There is some reason they have lowered the price that much. Either desperation or difficulty getting a loan, or problems. We will find out.
We do like the location, and the storage. But will only put $100k down till this place is sold and then pay off the remainder. Hubs said are you sure we can get a loan? Well if we can't I don't know who can, but no, there are no guarantees about that either.
I like a lot of the stuff in the inflation act, we could do solar at the new place if we got it.
If I read it right you can't get money back from the solar credit, only use it against taxes owed. Or that is the existing one.
But lot of useful stuff in it, but still people have to have money to do it. A loan doesn't help much.
We will see how that shakes out tomorrow, I would like to discuss it thoroughly, but if we are serious we likely need to make a decision quickly at that price.

Home from work today. DW got in a bike accident Monday. She came home all scraped up, no clue what happened. She kept asking if the bike was ok, over and over. I took her to the hospital and they gave her a CT scan. Fortunately no problems were found so it’s just a concussion. The rest of her memory came back, the next morning thankfully, she was like a goldfish that night.
She still can’t remember what happened that day. Doesn’t even remember biking, where she went, how she got home or what. Very scary.

I am the opposite of a good YM’er in so many ways. But I’ve learned SO much from this little community, I am much better off for having learned those things. I am nowhere near the financial success as many of the posters here, but I’m not in competition with them. I’m just trying to not be a financial train wreck so I can retire ASAP. That is why I didn’t care about making my modest little house my forever house, instead of upgrading like I originally planned to. I have coworkers that live in houses that are worth well over half a million dollars. I am happy for them being able to buy what they want and enjoy the fruits of their labor. I ooh and aahh, but truth be told, my mind just sees a lot of bills to pay. Whatever they have going on that they can afford that, I don’t have, so Imma just stay in my lane and be happy for them that they can do it. My peeps on this board that have more income and assets than I do, I am happy for them. I am always happy for my family and friends when they are doing well. I understand though, that their lives are not mine. They made a lot of different choices than I did. And I am okay with that, even though I do like nice stuff that I can’t necessarily afford.

I love the desk in the kitchen area, countrygirl2 . Very nice! Don't give up on us soupandstew . When I started on the boards here, DH & I had a large amount of debt. With encouragement from the gang here, we dug ourselves out. Take a break if you need to, but c'mon back.

Don't give up. If hubs hadn't worked overseas for years we would not be where we are. It was just one of those chance, one in a million deals. We were expecting him to be laid off, they were shutting his division so he was going to look elsewhere for work.
But they needed some people from his area to work on some bids overseas. And many had been let go already. Plus hubs knew how to work all the stuff up and had been there to close out jobs for them.
So it was just being in the right place at the right time and having knowledge from experience. And then 9/11 hit and they weren't sure they were even going to send them overseas. They again lucked out and got to go.
We could be in a mess if we do decide to buy it and then our house doesn't sell. We would have to take money out to pay it off and that would hurt us bad. So not sure if we want to try this. We should sell ours first but we have to much stuff to put anywhere.

Husb is afraid we will move up there and son will get transferred again. He says he won't, but hubs says with him incorporated with the military you never know. They have wanted to promote him a couple of times and he doesn't want it. He said his job is stressful enough now.
He is in linux training now, said it has nothing to do with where he is. I think he already knows it, this is training in other things. His boss wanted him to take it, he said this training is pretty hard. He said only way it seems useful for him, is if he were working for the NSA and he does not.

soup and stew, don't leave. Just because we look, doesn't mean it will happen. We are always looking at something whether we buy it or not.
Stay and enjoy, there are so many nice people here.
I'm not doing what I want to do either. It's difficult when you have a partner, and you aren't on the same page about things. But we all make the best of what we are and have. Life is not perfect for anyone that I know.
And it sure isn't for me either. Dealing with DD, and sometimes hubs is hard. I try not to complain all the time as no one wants to hear that. I just deal with it, but I get as down or moreso then anyone, but try to keep it to myself.

Neighbor got sprung from the hospital today. We are keeping his mutt for a few days until neighbor feels better. Sheldon now has no interest in Tripp’s food dish after that first experience. Tripp finishes up his meal and goes to check out Harriet’s. I’m sure if he had access to Sheldon’s dish, he’d scarf that down too. Sheldon’s food dish is in the master bathroom, on the back of the soaker tub.

We figure she must have gotten kicked in the head or something. Never did recall what happened and it's been years now.

Was over at my aunts helping her with something in the barn and heard this dog barking. She said she was dogsitting for her son (my cousin) this week and the dog was terrified and wouldn't come out of the tiny outdoor kennel that he would just cower in the corner or hide in the doghouse when she tried to get him out. I asked how long he'd been in there and she said since Sunday! Carrot and I went to check him out and talked him out almost right away. Once I got him out he was so happy and was just glued to my side. He tried to get back in the kennel a couple times, but once I got him away from there he was happy. Huge dog. She said he was a lab cross, but I'm pretty sure he was an Anatolian. My cousin got him from the shelter earlier this year and the poor thing probably thought he was getting dumped again, but they're just vacationing for the week. Now that we got him out my aunt was able to take him for walks in the field and around. I thought she should just bring him inside, but she's afraid her cat wouldn't like him.

Hugs to all that need them. I came to the boards through the Smart Spending threads and to be honest I miss them. I forget her name but she wrote articles about how to live on next to nothing and have a comfy home, tasty meals and travel every once in a while. My financial planning is at least as much frugal living as earning and investing but there aren't as many of us around that enjoy writing about that. I don't earn as much or have as much saved as most here, but I also don't seem to have the same kinds of expenses.

If I were guessing, I'd say my income is the lowest of anyone on here. That's why I rarely comment about things that pertain to finances and vacations, etc. It can be hard, for sure. I enjoy your posts, so hope you'll be back soon. Take care. Hugs ♡
