minnesotapaintladyThat's probably one of the reasons why this is so much painful. I remember the last night he was cuddling with me in bed. He only did that in winter, to keep warm. But he hadn't done it during summer. He did it last night. In a way, I feel he was saying goodbye. I know animals go away to die, but he was young and healthy. So it doesn't make sense.

We took the kitten to the vet yesterday. It's a boy in good health. He got his first set of vaccines and needs to go back in three weeks for the second set. He also has some parasites in his ears so he got medication for that, which we are putting on him. We tried to get him an appointment for neutering but the receptionist said they don't do appointments until he has his second set of vaccines. They are behind with surgeries, so he'll probably get an appointment for November or December, but she said they generally get some cancellations and he'll move up the list. They are going to microchip him at the same time as neutering. I am going to Petco on Thursday to get him a collar with a tag with my phone number on it. I have to call ahead and make sure they offer this service. skeeter I hear you. We'll get him a breakaway collar. I have to admit I'm not enthusiastic about him at all. I'm numb with pain and grief. I don't have any room left for any other feelings right now. Of course he's getting very well cared for, but the feelings are not there. He purrs and seems happy, and I'm glad he got a good home with me. He's an innocent little thing. Name is MichiPlease trust me on this, the feelings WILL come in time.
I have been where you are and know first hand the roller coaster emotions you are going through.
I lost a fur baby that meant the world to me and thought I'd never stop crying. Someone brought me another one thinking it would help. I did NOT want another one and for quite some time I actually resented the new addition sleeping/eating/playing where my "baby" did all those things. Don't get me wrong, she was well cared for, but not loved at that point in time.
I'm not exactly sure of the time frame, but somehow that little sucker weaseled her way into my heart. It happened slowly, but when it did, I ended up loving her just as much as the one I lost. She wasn't a replacement, as they were as different as night and day, but she managed to carve out her own spot in my heart. I hope the same thing happens for you.

I am so sorry for your loss of your baby but the feelings for Michi will come when you are ready to open your heart again.

I know it's not cheap, but it would help to get Michi his own new toys, etc. for the time being and put away Dali's things for now. That's what I had to end up doing. That way, you eliminate some of the reminders and it does make the transition a "little" easier to bear.
If Dali does come home, which I sincerely hope still happens, both kitties will each have their own stuff.
Saying hang in there seems like an empty phrase, but I promise, it will get better.

He might still show up though, so don't give up hope. It always blows my mind how many people in my town just let their house cats roam the neighborhood and they don't usually have any problems with finding their way back.

I know, and I find it aggravating right now. One of my coworkers lets her cat go out all the time, he stays away sometimes for a couple of days and always comes back. This was one time, one mistake, a few minutes, and we never get him again? Like I said, I'm angry, grieving, resentful, etc. So not able to have positive thoughts at the moment. I just don't understand how so many people let the cats roam and nothing happens.

Drowning. Because I took two days off I came in to 115 unread emails. I've gotten it down to 65 now including the ones I've received since I've started working. I'm also going to end up throat punching some people who are coming at me with unrealistic requests.

Dh told me more about the bear he ran into. The ranger he saw the next day said they've set up a presence in the area hazing the bear trying to get him to move on because he's gotten too comfortable with people and trying to get into their food. He isn't phased by the normal tactics that get black bears to walk away.
Bear vaults are quite effective, but they're trying to get him moved before someone inevitably leaves something out and the bear gets it because they'll have to euthanize him if that happens. Dh said he didn't think about trying to puff up, yell,or clap. He just managed to not turn and run, just back away slowly.

Name is Michi I know the local Petsmart has a machine where you can buy the charm and put what you want on it. Sheldon has an engraved tag that not only has our phone number on it, but the company that has his registered chip number and the chip number. I did this in case he got found and so the finders wouldn’t have to haul him to the vet to find out where he was registered. Using the engraving machine is very easy. You buy the tag, and follow the instructions on the machine. The tags are near the registers on a rack.

I wasnt posting too often, but I think I'm going to start hanging in here more. Whatever stupid thing I say, please give me a pass for a while, because I'm not myself right now. It's strange, because I have lost loved ones before, fortunately not too many, but this feel way more painful than the other times. I felt the same way, when I lost my ferrets. Except when my DBF of 14 1/2 yrs took his life. That nearly killed me, literally. Hugs ♡

Gave a tour to some corporate bigs, got Olive Garden for lunch as a surprise. I had some salad, 1 breadstick, and a small serving of fettuccini alfredo.

I have what we refer to as our "porch cat". She was rescued from the woods as a kitten, and has never been kept indoors. She will come in for small amounts of time when it is cold, but she will not stay long. She kills mice and leaves them in front of the door, and seems to have scared off the chipmunks that were starting to run rampant on our decks. To us, she is a "working" animal. Will I be a mess if something happens to her? Yes. But she is also pretty anti social, so it is different that one that was raised for companionship and loving IMO.

My house had a "porch cat" too when I moved in. According to the lady next door, the people I bought the house from had him fixed and kept up on shots, but he refused to come in the house. He's very personable and his name is Romeo. We kept him fed and up to date on shots, and he would just not come in. Then we had a rare for our area blizzard. He came in and decided it wasn't too bad at all. That was five years ago, and now he spends the majority of his time indoors. When he goes out now, he doesn't leave the fenced back yard.

I boxed up many of Lucy's toys 2 years ago. What Maddow and Amelia play with are not those toys. They have their own.

Yesterday hubs says we are not moving to Washington. I'm not living out there. I didn't say much, because right now I don't think he knows what he wants since his mom. He wasn't very nice about it either. I said what about little grandson? We will just have to visit. So today I go down to see him while he is working on the rental. By the way he found 4 LAYERS of floor covering in the kitchen, wow! Decided to take it out. Got one countertop on and it's gorgeous, going to be another little doll house to sell. But in talking, we have been seeing a nice house with big garage on the edge of the town we have to go to for groceries, doc visits, and such. It's only on .59 of an acre but hubs says that is fine. And for some reason they lowered the price again, the people have already moved. Hubs said let's go look at it, if we could get it for $250k would be great. He says we could likely get $300 out of ours. I'm like are you crazy, it's worth $450 to $475k. I talked to the realtor we always use and she agreed so we are going to go look at it in the morning. The people have already moved and I'm guessing they need to sell as the price has dropped. The back building had a business, has a kitchen, fridge, stove, would be great for any canning I would want to do. And room for my sewing and everything. The house has 4 bedrooms, so a place for little guy and folks when visiting. Hubs had joked about getting a urinal and the business building has a mens restroom with one, LOL! But best of all it has a huge kitchen, like I enjoy. I LOVE a big kitchen. He said then we would have enough money to buy a place in Washington. But we will see what comes of this. The realtor said it's dated, but nothing we can't fix. The only big negative to me is the bedrooms are upstairs, but hubs said we could put in an elevator. So part of it is downsizing, part is not. but the yardwork will go way down this way. And DD and I could get a golf cart and go to venues uptown and the pool is just down the street, plus my doc and the grocer. All the restaurants too. I told hubs we really need to sell while the prices are still up and he does not disagree. So we will see what we think of it tomorrow. Here is the listing www.zillow.com/homedetails/912-S-Section-St-Sullivan-IN-47882/77062502_zpid/

countrygirl2, it does have only 1.5 baths for a 4 br house, but the price is so low. You can always add baths.

Finnime, the house has 2 full baths and a shower and commode in the laundry room. The office in the outside has 2 half baths. And one of the tubs is a whirlpool tub!!
The listing for the house has a lot of stuff mixed in with the house. We figure the people moved and have 2 house payments and are getting desperate quickly. Hubs, knows the guy that built it, he was a big contractor around here. his son is our attorney.
The last couple that owned it had a computer business in it.
I want to look at it as I can't figure why its' so cheap, also has a new roof of this year.
It has additional information on Redfin, shows the safe room, that is for tornadoes and in it is a built in safe.

countrygirl2That's a big and beautiful house. As for your husband changing his mind at the moment, I can say grief does that to you. I just had a session with my therapist and I was telling him I want to sell the condo, move back to Uruguay, and come over when it's winter there and summer here, stay in Florida for a few months a year and work any waitressing job, then go back to Uruguay. He said I shouldn't make any decision in the state I'm in right now. First of all to wait until Mom leaves because Im full of resentment towards her right now. He said it will take me a while to process what happened, and I wont be able to start until she leaves. He also said taking a decision while dealing with grief, it's like trying to take important decisions after drinking a gallon of wine. You're in no state to make important decisions. So I would give your husband more time to process the loss of his mother and make up his mind about what he wants to do. Obviously I think that even if you stay in Indiana, being closer to town would be better.

DD just texted me that her Professor Posted her Grade for her Capstone Class. She got an A, so she will be able to Graduate in December. She is enrolled in her final class in September, it is on Campus in Whitewater WI (this one is for her minor, so should not be a big deal). She should be all set if she keeps the same job, although her current manager is kind of an A$$. She applied for a promotion, got to the second interview yesterday. The said they would hopefully let her know by today - so she may be SOL on that job. They said they want to have training in Atlanta next week. She just had 21 days off between her scheduled 2 week vacation and the shift in the schedules. She took a reduced schedule this last go round so she could work on the paper for her Capstone class- which is why 2 weeks ended up stretching out to 21 days. ETA her professor said her Written Portion was nearly Graduate level, writing is her strength and Math is her weakness. and DD just called me, she was offered the Position. She has until tomorrow to accept. It is a Temporary 2 year position, but after holding this position most people end up with Management Positions. She said some travel, and a good amount of OT. Her last position was probably pretty similar to this job. She will stay based out of MKE but not part of the operation. If her boyfriend accepts a different position at another airport, she should be able to relocate with him w/o any problems.

Wow Countrygirl, that place seems nice for you guys. I can see where it needs some changes, but a lot of it DH and I would be fine with. Ava I am glad you were able to talk to your Therapist. I have a friend who lost a pet when her brother was Dog sitting for her. He felt very bad about it, so while she was devastated by the loss, she did not let it interfere with their relationship. I hope Dali shows up, maybe someone is caring for him, and he will come home. . My Mom's 84? year old friend lost a dog recently and her kids already got a puppy for her. He slipped through and opening in her fence once already and my Mom was going over to let the dog out while she is at the Dr. Mom said the dog is so tiny that he slips his collar. Mom was very nervous. I am going to look for a collar that goes over the shoulders when I get home, I think I have one. I would have looked for a dog that was already potty trained if I was getting my Mom a dog at this point.

I'm thinking hubs knows I want out of the country so he probably thinks this compromise would keep me from wanting to go to Washington. I NEED out of the country. This is on the edge, but in the city limits of our small town. But it would be great. If need be I can drive around town at night. No need to drive 12 miles in when it's snowing and bad. As we age, will get harder for both of us. But we will lose our great furnace system, solar panels, and expensive metal roof. I'm sure the bills there will be higher for heating and AC. We would have city gas and water, still septic though. He was hoping for city sewer. That street has a field behind it that separates it from highway 41 so it's a good location.
I just saw it come up for sale a couple of weeks ago and have asked him several times about it. I was very surprised he wants to see it. We are going over at 11 in the morning. Lot of house and office building to take care of though and there is another small garage behind it.
We would clean it up more, it could be a gorgeous place. And some new flooring and paint would likely help too.
But to have a decent size kitchen again would be heaven and a bar. We always liked eating at the bar in our other house. I would trade our fridge for that black one. I have a 3 door and I don't like those side by side ones. And would need to know what kind of dishwasher. I like my Bosch.
I'm guessing financing has been an issue as part is a house and part a business building. Likely have to put more down.

CG that’s a very nice house , love the gazebo! And the taxes are outrageously LOW!! But still wish you’d move near your son and little guy! Your hubs likes it for the garage/building But if you must stay seems a nice location
