A first pass has been made at our books. One grocery bag to donate. Two tubs to sell, and DS has one tub to keep. He also emptied his smaller bookshelf, so I know how much room I have to work with now. I may have to take a second pass again at my stuff. We'll see what fits. I don't think we're going to be able to get DS's dresser out of his room. I could probably put my music in there. We'll just have to see. We haven't really decluttered his room in over a decade. I am slightly regretting that decision right now. I'm actually surprised at how the kids are not very attached to their things. We really should have paid some attention to his room at some point in the past decade. But, I always picked the girls room, since they have to share. Oh well, live and learn.
My Son did not really clean out his room until after he graduated from College, then he really purged. He moved back in for a bit when he broke up with his last girlfriend and he purged some more. He still has a few things at my house, but my son is a minimalist at heart. DD on the other hand has 2 rooms full of stuff, plus I have some of her stuff (furniture) in DS's old room and the garage. If I could get DH or DS to take apart the foosball table, I could put her table and chairs in that spot.

At the dentist with DD1 so she can get some fillings and getting really frustrated. Our appointment time was at 10:15 and we got her at 10:05. It’s 10:45 and we are stilling waiting in the waiting area. 😡🤬 I asked 15 minutes ago and was told the dentist was finishing up with the prior patient.
I’m getting really frustrated. I already haven’t been happy with this practice but was highly suggested I give them another chance. I’m not amused.

I still got stuff in my parents' basement that I should at some point go through. I have an entire army of Teddy Bears from Estes Park in a tub down there. Definitely not ready to give those up now.
I have a tub of books as well. I have the entire original Goosebumps series. I am under no delusions that they are worth anything but I would like to hang onto them. I need to talk DH into getting some of those floating shelfs and I can display them like art.
I've told DH that we need to win the lottery so he can build me a library like in Beauty & the Beast.

I was already exhausted from a high octane day at work, interrupted to play delivery girl for FIL‘s bday dinner, then again to nudge everyone along so DS could have some overexcited time giving grandpa his present and polar pizza, tagging along to bring DS home early to do bedtime routine. Then DH decided it was a good idea to play with PP in the larger not-securely-fenced backyard, knowing that PP delights in escaping and running off Because I needed the stress and adrenaline of trying to track the airtag. Best part was DH being personally offended that the dog ran off when DH was ordering him not to. Which is pretty much a „have you met your dog?“ moment. Anyone know of a good trainer for husbands? I’d rather not rehome either one but not sure how much more I can take. I already keep obsessively double checking to make sure PP didn’t find a way to sneak out again. If you find a good trainer, and it works I want a referral!

So, how DO you remove the new type of nail polish? I soaked the nails in nail polish remover to attempt to soften it. That worked some what. Then I had to peel it off. I do have small telltale bits of color. Did you apply the polish yourself, or have it done in a salon? I might go back to the salon and have them take it off. If you are doing it yourself, you take a nail fine and rough up the surface, then you take pieces of foil and wads of cotton soaked in nail polish remover and wrap the cotton around your toe nails. They even do this in the salon. I had a mani-pedi in the salon on Sunday. They use a dremel? tool to grind off the surface, then wrap my toes while they do the manicure part. Then the finish taking the polish off when they start the pedicure. I have taken soak off polish at home a few times. I would only do it if I did not intend to put polish on again for a while. My DH never complains about the $$ I spend on salon hair/nails. he was in a bad mood this morning b/c he was bitching about me spending $$ on the salon nails. I think it is the time away from home (dogs don't like to be alone) rather than the $$ spent.

DS will start moving to his new apartment this weekend - I told both kids that whatever they leave will go to charity or the . Yup. This is my attitude with my kids as well. I allow them to store 4 small packing boxes at our house, labeled and neat. That's it. I'll admit that I've let the last 2 keep a bit more here. They both live in very small apartments. But at the end of September, they've been told it needs to be down to the 4 box required amount.

Sister has stuff from all of her kids, plus she could never get rid of her kids' toys, etc. In addition, neither she nor BIL can get rid of their parents' things. DN1 has one thing there that he wants kept. We took it to Toronto last fall but she realized he has nowhere to put it. It's two unopened boxes of the two USA men's Olympic basketball teams from when Michael Jordan was playing. He wants to keep them but has no room. She said she would hold on to that. This is how I ended up with a basement full of DN3's stuff. Actually most of it is his fiance's stuff. It was supposed to be for 1 summer until they found a house. This is now summer #3. Mom still had boxes of the sentimental stuff from when we were kids but she had pared it down a lot. I do wish she had not gotten rid of ALL of dad's bowling shirts. I would have liked to have had one. She did that long before they moved here. Sister did find out when the Toddler was visiting that plastic toys don't hold up for 35 years.

Thanks everyone. I stumbled across a photo I forgot I had of MIL and Abby's first Christmas when looking for photos of my mom on Facebook. I was surprised at how good a photo it is I normally don't get shots that good.
Since it doesn't cost a fortune to print photos anymore I decided to print that one off I am going to gift it to DH. He was lamenting not having a lot of photos of his mom and I understand how that feels.
This is one of those times where things you post on the internet lasting forever is a good thing.

My DD has hers done professionally as a reward for dropping 50 lbs. She has colors and flowers on one nail each for remembrance of 2 family members who passed.

My coworkers gave me a card and that set me crying again. Not bad tears, I'm just really touched. Today is hard, the memorial is this afternoon. I FINALLY got a phone call from the funeral home. Which is good because my dad is climbing the walls and it's taking a lot of energy for him to step back and not go Hulk over not having my mom back after a week. Learned a lot about how urns work, good to know when it comes time to do this again. I'll pick up mom's photos then hop over there. I don't want to leave my mom in the car in the area I will be in, putting her in the trunk for security seems wrong. When I picked up DH's ashes, my daughter-in-law went with me. She suggested we go out for lunch afterwards. I insisted on taking "him" home first. So I know how you feel.

I just totally face planted. Jackson was whining so it went to the living room to see what was up. Macy was laying in the middle of the floor directly in my way and I didn’t see her. If anyone wonders what tripping over an 80 lb dog is like, it's rough. T2 came downstairs to see if I was still alive. I am, but my lower lip is split wide open. Maybe I should stop turning all the lights off if I'm not in a room. oh no! how's your lip look this morning? Ok. You can see where my teeth cut it, it's already started scabbing over. So far no bruises but as dark as I am, sometimes they take a couple of days to show up.

I got rid of the last of my kids' left-behind belongings when we moved out of state. I did keep, for me, DS's Brios, a book he wrote when he was 6, and some childhood books of DD's. Plus a very small box of baby clothes. All else is gone; sold, given away and thrown away.

OK evil twin is up and at it this morning. To the attic she goes! But I do hope it is better as we speak. It wasn't as bad as it could have been. It was an unguarded fall. I was walking and then I was on the floor. T2 came running downstairs to see if I was ok.I actually felt bad for Macy. As I was getting up I yelled "Dammit Macy!" She ran into her kennel thinking she was in trouble.

I have an appointment with my gynecologist tomorrow morning. Every time my “stomach” has been acting up, I’ve said to myself that the pain felt like when I use to have ovarian cysts sometimes. But I assumed that couldn’t be it because I’m post menopausal. I finally asked Dr. Google, and it is possible. So I made an appt.
I’m also going to ask her about my hormones and whether that is contributing to the other stuff I’m struggling with, like how insomnia has gotten so much worse. Might as well, since I’ll be there anyway. The timing of me being in menopause coincided with the pandemic and the increased difficulty sleeping, and I assumed it was stress from the pandemic instead of considering it was related to menopause.

I have kept some of the toys and books we bought the kids. Such as Legos (literally have mine from when I was a kid as well as the kids) and Thomas the tank toy trains. I think maybe 10 boxes total? No clothes. I am sentimental about books but not clothes.

My mom has 5 of us kids, all 27+. Only my sister who is 41 has stuff still at mom's house. Stuff that my mom has moved 3x. At least 8 totes full, likely more. Their excuse is that my BIL is AF so they've moved 3x (notice how that equals my mom's moves so far). I keep saying it's still not justified. Sis should at least pare down. At this point, she hasn't looked in the boxes since college. Must be real valuable stuff. And sure, some of it is sentimental, but 8 totes worth? pre-kids.
I recently pared down my own keepsakes even further...found out that 30+ yr books don't keep well. Little house on the prairie set that I read constantly at my aunt's house that were pristine bc she kept them there for me away from my siblings. Totally disintegrated in my hands. I clear taped one back together as a memento but it'll never be readable. Tossed the rest. I guess I'm heartless.

I bought some gel nail polish, it works pretty good. I had trouble getting it off the first time, had some cheap remover. So bought a brand name and it came off. But nail polish and I don't do well. I wear gloves some but mopping the floors a lot of times do not. So the end of it gets rubbed off, but it does even with gloves on. I will play with it for a while, then likely not use it again. I have on lavender today. It does stay on better though.
I bought a little nail kit for DD, she uses the battery operated file and is doing a pretty good job on her nails. Then she painted them, she was so proud of herself.
I weighed this morning 149.8! I am not even trying to lose weight. I am eating a ton of food, but I'm making sure it's low calorie stuff. Things like pineapple or pears packed in their juice, no sugar added. Or like the night before, I had a big bowl of cucumbers and a tomato. But I'm also eating things like the fried tenderloin, but had cauliflower with butter on it. At the restaurant the other day had a BLT. Also greens one evening and I eat a lot of salads. But I balance, cottage cheese, strawberry milk (high calorie), for calcium. And green beans, I LOVE green beans, bet I have more to pick. But I like corn, potatoes, just a variety of everything. Of course the way they are prepared helps too. I'm going to eat salmon baked again for a while. If I want a lot to eat, I try to load up on low cal and minimize the fried and heavy foods. Maybe I can maintain this.
Hubs mowed at the 2 other places we mow, he said the grass was like a hay field with all the rain. I couldn't do it because I had no way to pull the trailer with my car. I hope I can get an electric truck. I need a truck again, hate being without one.
I worked up our cash balances last night and with the bonds earning, not having to pay federal taxes for at least 2 years, and less spending on things, we are ok. Our 401k's and IRA's are only down about $5k total. And I'm spending less. Even with hubs trip we are doing ok, I spent a lot less to help cover what he spent, and if I do that for a couple months, can replace a lot of it, I hope. Low light bills are really helping too. We put out a bunch of money for the solar but I think it will be worth it. they raised rates 15.6% last year and are asking right now for another 7% increase, that is Duke Energy. That must be hurting people. We will recover 26% of the cost by not having to pay federal taxes on that amount. And low light bills for part of the year will really help too.
I need for us to buy corn to put up. Only 6 dozen this year as we are eating less. I need to try and help hubs lose weight. Need to find low calorie sweets for him, he likes desserts and need to try and get him to not eat so much.
Never ending battle for all of us. It needs to just be in cooperated into our daily life.

Had to take a half day to take DS to urgent care. He's been having some problems with vertigo the last couple days so figured he'd better go in and probably not a good idea to have him drive himself. I'm not sure how much of this is real and how much is him being overly dramatic because he seems fine to me, but he got a dr. note to get out of work the rest of the week.

I went to a thrift store as they had a yarn sale. I really deserve to wear the cone of shame now. I also really have to retire at 55.
