My mom could always make up a batch of food too if people showed up. We had tons of home canned goods so some of it came from that I'm sure.
But you know, people didn't eat as much either I don't think, unless they had spent a day really working outside. I don't remember us having this much food at meals.

Perhaps that should have been anniversaries, since the way I put it sounds like drama and catsareme are celebrating a common anniversary

I was already exhausted from a high octane day at work, interrupted to play delivery girl for FIL‘s bday dinner, then again to nudge everyone along so DS could have some overexcited time giving grandpa his present and polar pizza, tagging along to bring DS home early to do bedtime routine. Then DH decided it was a good idea to play with PP in the larger not-securely-fenced backyard, knowing that PP delights in escaping and running off Because I needed the stress and adrenaline of trying to track the airtag. Best part was DH being personally offended that the dog ran off when DH was ordering him not to. Which is pretty much a „have you met your dog?“ moment. Anyone know of a good trainer for husbands? I’d rather not rehome either one but not sure how much more I can take. I already keep obsessively double checking to make sure PP didn’t find a way to sneak out again.

I haven't read in a few hours, will make a point to catch up tomorrow. tonight was a much needed mindless night. we hit the patio, the pups met some friendly kids and got love, and then we all got caught in an epic storm band. LD was on point with the thunder and barometric pressure change, but was still happy panting all night. we are home now, in the basement where we will stay for the night. storms are supposed to continue over my head all night, and if I close the French doors, you can't hear shit from outside down here.
I needed this after yesterday. hugs to those that need them tonight, sleep well, all!

So apparently you can do one hour photo online now.
My old ass went there in person and then drove home then drove back an hour later.
Though that works because I realized I had none of my nephew. Don't have time to see if I can find one with her and Bob doesn't have any.
I found a really good one she took of them at Christmas so I'm going to use that. Then one of her pregnant with me. And her favorite photo of her and my dad from their honeymoon.

Just out of curiosity, what can they do besides supplements? I posted on FB when I was donating blood and a male friend asked if I'd ever been deferred for low hemoglobin. I had on occasion before menopause- not recently. Maybe it will help him. Fix the source of low iron - which my solution wouldn't help your friend. But I'm getting iron infusions right now too. I tripled my iron supplements so I was taking 975mg of ferrous iron a day, plus vitamin c, and my #'s tripled but we're still well below normal which is when I switched to the iv's. I wish I had done those to start instead of prolonging everything with just more supplements. It's really hard to increase iron with any supplements bc we absorb so little. DH got transfusions for about 8 yrs while he was battling UC.

I found an answer to the woes of Ikea shopping. Shop and pay online, then go pick up at their special parking area for Click n Go. No entry into the mad maze, no passing Go, no paying another $200 for Stuff you had no idea you needed. My BFF and I intentionally go browse ikea as an activity about once a quarter. Food from their Cafe and a leisurely 3 hour stroll. Usually buy <$50 between us. Plus we get the giggle saying Swedish product names and trying to figure out what some of them are for which of course isn't helped by the Swedish names. What can I say - doesn't take much to entertain us.

My sister actually called me tonight to tell me they will be out of town and all of her local kids will be out of town until Sunday evening. I'm not quite sure why she called to tell me. She hasn't told me any time they are going out of town in the past.
I take care of myself now without her/their help.
She's weird.

I know I made the right decision when I decided going to Spain wouldn't work for me. They are on Day 4 and it's been over 100 degrees every day. I would definitely not be enjoying the trip.

apparently, the electricians are here today. they pulled in around 8am. the company owner never actually got back to me as to which days he and/or his team would be here. I asked them to start with the outside stuff, since the pups are home today. tomorrow, they can come in for the inside stuff. Did your outside electrical projects get finished today before the skies opened up?

Apparently Newbie has started to regularly harass Mister to give her treats. Her treats are all in the laundry room. I don’t know exactly what she does to show him she wants treats, but he’s been mentioning it lately and tonight is the second night in a row he’s said she’s harassing him for treats instead of coming to bed. I like for her to go to bed when I do lol. That’s usually before Mister goes to bed, so he has to bring her in here. When I wake up in the middle of the night, I check to see if she’s in here on her bed. The time or 2 that she’s not been in here, I go find her and tell her to come to bed. She snores, but Idc, I just feel better when she’s in here overnight.
But the treats, she doesn’t harass me like she does Mister. Or maybe I miss the cues. I do give her treats, but she often has to work for them by following some kind of command. Mister just gives them to her. Which is probably why she harasses him for them and not me lol.

TD started giving Harriet a treat after dinner. At first it was to keep her from freaking out on TD. She was abused by a man and was terrier of him. The treat is usually a few bites of the meat we had at dinner. She’d get it once we finished eating and the kitchen was cleaned up. OMG! She becomes a royal PITA if TD sits down without a treat in his hand, and she reminds him strongly he’s forgotten.

I've never been to/in an IKEA store. I have always wanted to, but since I don't ever drive by one, I don't think about going to one. Plus, I don't want to go alone, so I just don't. But I am curious.
Funny, it seems kind of like saying I've never been to McDonald's. Hahaha ( Yes, I've been there!)

I just totally face planted. Jackson was whining so it went to the living room to see what was up. Macy was laying in the middle of the floor directly in my way and I didn’t see her. If anyone wonders what tripping over an 80 lb dog is like, it's rough. T2 came downstairs to see if I was still alive. I am, but my lower lip is split wide open. Maybe I should stop turning all the lights off if I'm not in a room.

Tig must have ran out when hubs carried his suitcases in. That was about 6:30. I kept looking for him in the house not realizing he wasn't in here. By 10:30 I did, went in the garage and he was outside the door, he couldn't get in the house quick enough. Acted like he was scared, he has never been outside in the dark before. I shut up the garage. Now he and Smoke both are on the recliner, Tig with his feet touching my legs. And Smokey on the back of the recliner and they are both snoozing. The boys are happy, I would guess.
I should try to go to bed earlier tonight, it's 10 till 12 now and I want to read for a bit. I'm washing the last of hubs dirty clothes. Just have to dry the last load.
I just need more then this in my life. Laundry, cleaning, or mowing, dinner out once in a while. Then rinse and repeat, sigh.

Good morning. where is everyone? Oh, yeah, 5+ tine zones west of me. I fell into an exhausted sleep at 6:30 PM, woke up at 11:30 PM, read for an hour and then slept till the alarm went off at 7. Not bad. I'm enjoying a breakfast of broiled tomatoes, a REAL fried egg and cheese slices. And coffee, of course. I;m at a hotel that s a 5-minute walk for Heathrow. Straight across from me there's a parked JAL plane and I just saw a giant BA jet take off. My older granddaughter (and probably her little sister) would love this but I doubt I'd get the seat facing the window! It's a lot less exciting being in a hotel without two excited little girls wanting to explore every corner. Yesterday I hiked over to Heathrow to but a few things and scouted out the security lines. They were AWFUL and I'm flying to Tirana about the same time today. I checked in on-line and found I've got Fast Track, a MUCH shorter line. I suppose it's because when I used my small stash of BA points for this trip I got Business Class. Thanks for the comments on iron deficiency. I'd forgotten about cast iron and I use it daily to sautee vegetables. I bet that's what helps my iron levels despite a practically vegetarian diet. will pass these notes on to my friend. My last day in a country where English is the native language for a long time. I'm hoping most tourist-facing Albanians speak English since Albanian is totally unrelated to the languages I recognize. Let the adventure begin!

Good morning, introspective invisipeeps, offering morsels of your lives for the rest of us to ingest. I hope your Wednesday is good to you and good for you.
Today I'll put together the bookcases we bought at Ikea. DH can then unpack some of his books. We're setting up a library at the end of our master bedroom, which is huge. DH was an analyst at the Library of Congress Congressional Research Service. Libraries are important in our llife.

Best wishes to everyone who have been having issues recently. I'm thinking of you even though I don't comment. I am eating M&Ms. Tonight I did not count them for a serving size. We are almost out and H. asked me not to buy anymore. Both of us are down many pounds from a few months ago. I write down nearly everything I eat. I can't handle myfitnesspal since I'm always thinking about and entering food. Then making a grocery list and cooking. Too much thinking about food.
My DD has lost about 60 lbs or more. Her DD's wedding was her motivation which motivated H. and me. What I learned this days old. How to remove the new type nail polish. The old stuff was nail polish remover, swipe; and voila, gone. I hope the last little specks wear off. My toe nail polish is going to be worn off.
So, how DO you remove the new type of nail polish? I soaked the nails in nail polish remover to attempt to soften it. That worked some what. Then I had to peel it off. I do have small telltale bits of color.

On the "thinking about food" topic I think we are luckier than those who came before us because we have a lot of food and a lot of choices about food. And I think we less fortunate than those who came before us because we have so many choices. I hear y'all on this because the Weight Watchers thing does require planning ahead and measuring and weighing. And I'm okay with that but it doesn't keep me and DH from getting the tortilla chips at the restaurant or the cookie out of the pantry. I KNOW my life did not revolve around food 10-15-20 years ago. But I don't know how to redirect my life, and I sure as crap don't know how to redirect DH. We fight about so much, including food. This is not cool at all for either of us. My most recent help on food planning was making a list of what I know we like and I have the ingredients on hand. I do keep some fast frozen entrees like chicken parm and salsbury steak by Core to heat and eat in very little time. I was on a site to help with keeping a house clean. The one thing they stress early in the morning is what's for dinner. In the 70s when I barely had 2 pennies to rub together, I made a two week rotating menu that helped with grocery shopping.
Now I try to make meals big enough to last up to a week. A roast can be made into so many dishes and is fast. Half can be frozen for the next week. My next batch is cooked ground meat enough for two meals or more if making nachos. I freeze half. My absolute best find was small sirloin steaks in a 5 pack. Buy 1 get 2. We'd cook one package then freeze half. Dinner just needed to be thawed and a couple of sides. Not diet friendly. My less than 15 minute meals are prepared alfredo sauce, canned chicken, broccoli and noodles, 4 meals. Canned chili over french fries or made into chili pie (salad). Stir fry. My grandkids love to cook. I don't know how often but they do have some fun recipes. They don't mind being in the kitchen because most of them worked in food service. I also like our thread of what's for dinner because I see meals I never heard of and need to look up!

My coworkers gave me a card and that set me crying again. Not bad tears, I'm just really touched. Today is hard, the memorial is this afternoon. I FINALLY got a phone call from the funeral home. Which is good because my dad is climbing the walls and it's taking a lot of energy for him to step back and not go Hulk over not having my mom back after a week. Learned a lot about how urns work, good to know when it comes time to do this again. I'll pick up mom's photos then hop over there. I don't want to leave my mom in the car in the area I will be in, putting her in the trunk for security seems wrong.
