So last night I prepped some of my veggies I feed the rabbits. I have green beans, cut up a green pepper into 4 parts, chopped up a cabbage, and separated a broccoli crown. I also had a carrot in the fridge that was cut up. I was running late this am, so was very glad I had prepped the veggies a bit. I cleaned their cages, and gave them each a handful of Timothy hay, a piece of green pepper, a piece of Broccoli, a big piece of Kale and 4 green beans, and a little piece of carrot. DD never fed them so well. DH wants to get rid of them, DD can't have them anymore b/c her boyfriend is allergic to them. They are so well fed, I just don't know how they will adjust to a new home.
I have PT in 25 minutes. I have a project I should be able to get done before I leave.

IKEA is on my list too, this week.
DD1 has picked out colors for her room, and we've looked at furniture in town on a couple of different occasions. She knows what kind of bed she wants, and also she would like a desk. I think it is a good choice for her. We can trust her doing her homework in her room. She wants some orange walls, and grey furniture. I think it will look cool when it's done.
So, today, we need to take measurements and figure out the layout. I also need to work on cleaning out all the closets.
My goal is to get her moved in at the start of the school year. She's being an obnoxious big sister to the peanut. Her own space would help.
What size bed is she going to have? I have a queen size headboard from Wayfair in my garage that was DD's. I appreciate the offer. We're doing twin. The bedroom is small. Bed, desk, bookshelf. Literally, there is no room for a dresser.

So, the nice thing about decluttering at midlife is you have more of a realistic sense of what someday really means, where your life will not return to, and all that.
But, then you also find things that befuddle you. Like how does an agnostic person end up with 3 bibles on a bookshelf. It's also an amusing insight into technology. I remember when i got my Harvard dictionary of musical terms. It was a B.I.G. deal. Now, I'm like, eh. I'll just look it up online. That takes up less space.

I baked a lasagna and now baking a spanakopita. It was COLD here today! Not even 60 degrees, after 104 yesterday. It's madness, I tell you! I'm baking now because they're saying we're in for another blistering heat wave. I certainly won't want to turn the oven on then. This way, I can just pop a piece of lasagna or spanakopita in the microwave. I can't afford to get take-out every single day, which is what I've been doing. Yesterday, i picked up a souvlaki. The day before, a shish taouk on pita. Day before that, a pizza. This cannot go on. (Sushi LOVES lasagna. Garfield is not an outlier.) This reminded me that I need to check out dates for Greek Festival. No festival during the covid but hopefully will be in full swing this year. Spanakopita is one of the reasons I go. They have the best. Can get fresh made and also buy box of frozen/fresh made. We have one other place that makes really good ones so I feed my addition at least once a month till Greek Festival. I miss all the activities that they had during the festival. Oh, and some of the cheeses that aren't readily available in stores Heck, I'll admit that I just love everything about the festival. Like kefalograviera? It's a lovely sheeps' milk cheese. If you ever come across this in a store, grab it! Really good spanakopita. It's made in Greece.

I will keep looking for a new PCP. I’ve already asked 2 of my coworkers who they go to.
I reached out to the behavioral therapist I was seeing a few months ago, for help with my sleep. She said I could contact her via e-mail if I need her, and while we were working together, she offered to refer me to someone for longer term care. So I emailed her.

My new doctor is an FNP and she's the one who cared enough about my iron to get it fixed. It's taking forever but as it's started to come up I've realized for the first time in years I can exist without feeling hungry. I've seen at least 3 other doctors in that time that never did more than say to take supplements. Just out of curiosity, what can they do besides supplements? I posted on FB when I was donating blood and a male friend asked if I'd ever been deferred for low hemoglobin. I had on occasion before menopause- not recently. Maybe it will help him. Fix the source of low iron - which my solution wouldn't help your friend. But I'm getting iron infusions right now too. I tripled my iron supplements so I was taking 975mg of ferrous iron a day, plus vitamin c, and my #'s tripled but we're still well below normal which is when I switched to the iv's. I wish I had done those to start instead of prolonging everything with just more supplements.

Mister called the child support folks this morning and was told something totally different from what he was told the last time he called. He’s been trying to make sure he was on track for the payments to end when YD turns 18 in a few weeks.
This morning, he was told that he has to pay $119 for some paperwork he has to fill out and submit to the court. Then he has to wait for them to give him a court date, which will be at least 28 days away. They both have to talk to a “divorce referee” (he might have told me another term) via zoom and he is responsible for getting the app and setting everything up, for him AND the custodial parent. He asked and got it clarified that he is responsible for getting her setup too. That is ridiculous Imo, because what if the parents hate each other, or the custodial parent just doesn’t want to cooperate? It’s not like a noncustodial parent can force the other to give them their phone so they can put an app on it so they can stop giving them money every month. And why do they have to talk to a divorce referee when they’ve been divorced for years?
So it costs money and time, plus the cooperation of the custodial parent (with the zoom app) to stop the payments. And at least an extra month of payments, probably more while you wait on a court date and all the necessary paperwork to submit to his job so it stops coming out of his paychecks. And you can’t start the process until the child actually turns 18yo. He can use an attorney, but they told him this morning that the only thing an attorney would do is submit the paperwork to the court for him. I suggested he talk to an attorney anyway.
It might sound bad that he is so anxious to stop paying child support, but he’s never missed a payment. And like I’ve said before, he didn’t try to get it reduced when OD turned 18, he just kept paying the same amount, and now he’s just ready for it to be over with. He’s not trying to stop doing for them, he just bought YD a MacBook Sunday for her to take to college with her, he still spends a lot of money on them besides the child support. He just want to end the child support payments to their Mom when his legal obligation to do so ends.
It’s kind of crazy to me that it’s so complicated and drawn out in our state. The original order says until they turn 18 or graduate high school. Their birth certificates and diplomas prove both of those. Good grief!

Pink - 🤯🤯🤯 That sounds ridiculous for child support ending for a child that turns 18. You would think that the divorce decree/child support decree and a birth certificate would be the end.

How is Astro doing andi9899 ? Is his wound from the vet trip healing ok? It's scabbed over and less swollen. Thanks for asking. He's back to being a butthead again. Glad he's doing ok and it didn't end up being more serious by getting infected, etc.
Still, it should never have happened in the first place.

I saved a bunch of Children's books. My kids are 28 and 25. I don't foresee grands any time in the near future, so I ask my self all the time, should I just donate them? I also have several reference books, cook books etc. I think I should empty the entire bookcase. DH has a box of his old research papers. The research would probably not be relevant any more, and newer plagiarism tech keeps people from resubmitting old papers. DH would never believe me until he was caught though.

We were never married, but even DS's father did not have to do anything like that. I had hired a lawyer to establish custody as we had broken up before I realized I was pregnant, and CS went through the government. I never requested an increase even though his income almost tripled over the years, but I did request it run until graduation (DS's birthday is in November, so he started school a year late). The government stopped garnishments the month of graduation. That was the end of it. I don't see how 1 party can responsible for seeing that the other does the right thing.

I downsized when I moved. I had two huge book cases filled with books. Donated one of them, and the books. Now I have one book case and it's jammed with books. Books on top, books underneath, books piled up on the sides. Books just gravitate to me, and if they're good, I want to keep them.

I dropped a bunch of books across the various locations here in town when I first moved this time. at least around here, they are usually a shelf of kids books and a second for adult ones.

We donate the kid books that are not special. And the truth of the matter is, there are libraries and barnes and nobles and amazons. I think I keep things out of frugality. We can't replace everything. But, if I pitch a book we decide we need 5 years in the future, I can make the decision to buy it again.

I spend way to much on books but I doubt a lot of these are available at the library. I like reading apocalypse books, I know silly, just like I enjoy watching Angel the vampire. Most is pure fantasy. I used to like romance books, but haven't in years, they are basically all the same. I did buy one to read this time, might break up some of the types I'm reading, bring in a little variety. If we move I will likely donate all of them I have downstairs, have a bookcase stuffed full. Spare bedroom has them under my end table, all over. I love to read. I will keep a few reference books, a dictionary. And yes, I too somehow have a lot of bibles?? I bought 1 or 2, read more then half, just wanted to know what was said in them. So much of it has been totally distorted. If we took it literally, would be like the muslim religion.
Making hubs chili, yes it's 75 out and humidity 93% but I think he will like it. Might make him a pie, cake, or even rice crispies treats. He is in Peoria, Ill, about 3 hours plus to home. Don't know how he does it.
We just had a heavy shower, our crops here are beautiful. But I hope it doesn't keep this up when they are supposed to start drying up. Going to get hubs to get corn tomorrow to freeze. It should still be really good with all the rain this summer.

Pink, I'm glad to see you're reaching out for help.
Drama, congratulations. You've been through so much, this is a real milestone.
About books, DH is right now winnowing down his collection further. I culled mine before we moved. Unfortunately book people find other book people so we had many many many books. I don't kow what to do with those DH is ready now to give up.

I got MIL's small pension benefit stopped today and they will take the last one back shortly so that feels good. So her 3 deposits are now stopped, sure easier then starting it. Also found my postal contract. The file was pushed down below some others. It was in the very first file cabinet drawer I started going through again. Now I can get some file boxes and start putting all MIL's paperwork in them. Will leave them up here and accessible for some time. But since she basically had nothing left it shouldn't take much to close out. Sad to say, but this will take a ton of paperwork and stress off me. I feel guilty saying that, but it does. I can deal with DD's. Would love to be rid of the bookwork for the LLC too. I just want to retire from all of that.
I saw where some of you said you were low in iron. I cook or fry something in my old iron skillets often. I've read just enough comes off and adds to your diet to help. I think it's healthy, mine has never been low.
And I just ate a bit of the chili, it's really good. Think I will make me another cup of coffee, not to late to drink it. I haven't eaten any steel cut oats the last 2 mornings, though I'm full, I need to eat some for my digestion. Guess I will stuff them in.

My mom had a pulmonary embolism brought on by sitting too long as a passenger on a road trip. I think they had driven 8 hours with only 1 stop. And she was young then, well around 48. Has been on blood thinners ever since.

I think Mister should call again and see what the next person says. And pay for a few minutes of a lawyers time. Just to be sure.

I’ve heard lots of men bitch about paying child support and I usually couldn’t care less about their gripes because…. Take care of your child(ren). With my ex, I filed for CS before I filed for divorce, so my case was handled through Juvenile court. When my youngest graduated high school, I got a letter saying they were closing the case, even though my ex still owed 10’s of thousands of dollars because he didn’t pay it when he was supposed to. I didn’t fight it, my children were 18 and 20yo, so whatever. Mister never bitched about his child support, but he’s not happy at all about all the hassle of getting it stopped, and having to continue to pay after she turns 18, for however long it takes to get it resolved through the court system. And what if their Mom doesn’t cooperate with the Zoom thing? Why is it on him to make sure she’s set up on Zoom and attends the meeting? I can see a lot of custodial parents not cooperating with the noncustodial parent on that, to keep getting the payments for as long as they can. Mister and the girls’ Mom get along well enough to work together with coparenting, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t cooperate without someone with more authority than Mister saying she has to. What’s her incentive to cooperate with something that’s going to reduce her income by quite a bit?

Even if they can’t speed the process up, they can make sure nothing gets overlooked and causes delays.

Yeah, that is a convoluted mess. If it is spelled out in his divorce decree, I would see a lawyer before trying anything else.

I think he should try and call at a different time and see what they say - I would also suggest going to the city/county's website to see if the details that they have asked is in there. That sounds like a lot of BS.

In other news, DS starts a new job Thursday. He’ll be making more money than he ever has. He’s excited and I’m excited for him. The only thing is that it’s almost an hour drive for him.
But it’s just him and his little dog, so if he decides he wants to work there long term, he can just move closer if he wants to.
Anyway, I just wanted to share some good news since I’ve been talking about so much unhappy stuff lately.

Check out the vampire series by Charlaine Harris - they are vampire and romance and intrigue all in one, and super fun reading. I think an HBO series "True Blood" was based on them too. She wrote quite a few and I'm saving the last one I have for when I need a real page-turn that isn't too heavy.
