I clicked the link and it seems that “white noise” is beneficial for helping block noise from outside the house? That’s not an issue for me. I’ve enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of the rain or the ocean, but when I wake up in the middle of the night, noise bothers me, no matter how soothing it might be. It’s probably from when I was living alone with my young children in the ‘hood, but I feel like in the middle of the night, I need to be able to hear if anything is going on in my house. And falling asleep when I go to bed at night isn’t the issue. The issue is that no matter what time I go to sleep, after a couple hours (sometimes 3) I wake up and toss and turn the rest of the night. I might doze off for a few minutes, but I don’t really go back to sleep. Then BAM, it’s 4:30, time for me to get up. And most mornings I want to cry because I’m so tired.

So I was able to get a Dr. appointment today. I’m kinda not feeling this new Dr I’ve been seeing since my PCP retired at the end of last year.
She gets stuck on one thing, and she doesn’t listen very well.
Today she got stuck on my tummy issues. When I made the appointment, I said it was to discuss what else I can do about my sleep problems. The person on the phone asked if I was experiencing anything else, I said yes, I’m wondering if I’m experiencing depression, and I’m having trouble with my stomach, which I think may be due to stress.
So when I got there, I had to take a COVID test because of my tummy issues. It was negative. So when the Dr came in she talked about that, and then it was like she was done. Ummmm…… ma’am, what about the other stuff?! I told her I know I’m not a Dr., that’s why I was in her office, but I think it might help my mental and physical issues if I could just get some damn sleep at least once or twice a week, or SOMETIMES.
i have some things in my life that I stress about, but I don’t see it being helpful to trying to manage my stress, to be exhausted all the time because I can’t get some damn sleep like a normal person. That creates even more stress because wtf can I not sleep.
I don’t feel like I may be depressed all the time. It’s like I’ll go a while running on fumes because of lack of sleep, and then I sort of crash and feel crazy and don’t have the energy to do much of anything.
I’ve been diagnosed with depression before and I remember what that felt like. I also remember that it was an everyday thing that I felt, regardless of how I was sleeping (or not) and regardless of what was going on in my life, it wasn’t just every few weeks or whatever.

I often wake up after I’ve been asleep for a few hours. If I can’t get back to sleep often a half glass of milk helps. I used to also put peanut butter on a slice of bread with the milk. But now just the milk helps me fall back to sleep

I liked the post because I appreciated the effort to try to help. I do not like milk, never have. I used to use it to make hot chocolate until somebody told me milk was just mucus. Even if that’s not true, I stopped even drinking hot chocolate. I use milk when I make mashed potatoes. That’s the only use I have for it now.

My kitchen sink and cabinets are just the right height to aggravate the knots in my upper shoulders. It's not as bad as if I had lifted weights yesterday. PB did not aggravate when playing today. I did find some exercises that I shared with another friend who has the same knots. The table I have my computer on is too high. I try to remember to put the computer on my lap.
Another website said the knots are caused by inflammation of the fascia between muscles. Rest is supposed to help.
On the water being shut off issue. The water was shut off in the north part of the city while they were doing water pipes in a new subdivision. The only announcement was on TV. A lot of residences were caught unaware. The fire department flushes fire hydrants. The schedule is printed in the newspaper. We don't get the newspaper. It's not the time to wash whites. Also dental offices and same day surgery are impacted. How about, I can't rinse the shampoo out of your hair at the hair dresser.
This issue resulted in a huge lawsuit locally several years back when people had lightening or straightening products on their hair when the salon lost water. The clients suffered hair loss and scalp damages - the awards were significant. I understand why they can't give notice on these repairs but I also know it's a really big deal for some folks. For us it was just a nuisance but for others is a nightmare

I was commenting from my own perspective. I've also been sleeping badly lately. and tonight I got some news that made me pour myself a cocktail. (I'm not discussing in the open boards. everyone involved is safe and healthy) I'm sitting on the deck rn, watching the last LLWS game of the night and them I'm going to bed. tomorrow might be another long day, but I won't know til tomorrow.

Sitting outside with the 2 dogs, temp very pleasant and the horse farm is just so lovely! Pretty paddocks with trees and birds singing. Son coming home tomorrow, he found a nice house on 2 acres to rent So VERY happy DIL is doing so much better, she was walking today. Drs probably taking out tube from lungs as fluid on lungs greatly decreased with the increased diuretic dose. Just so lovely snd peaceful here! DIL Health seems to be better snd son is happy with new California job. Hoping DH will come with me to spend part of the miserable NJ winter in California. Even better if we can go to Maui with DS and DIL. It’s been a really tough year but praying it’s going in good direction

That's what I was going to say. Fill the bathtub with water and you can flush the toilets with a bucket or two of water. We used to have water off a lot when I first moved here. Yes, that would have been great if we had received notice. I do understand the problem because no one in their right mind answers the door anymore (us included) and a written notice would need to be multilingual (English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Vietnames) or it would be worthless. A solid rain would stop the water line breaks but nothing yet. We had a lot of lightning and thunder today but that's all. The next 60 days are our peak hurricane season which would definitely break the drought but I don't think I can handle that again.

As far as finding a PCP, it’s kind of difficult because if you have a serious chronic condition, it behooves you as far as our jobs go, to get FMLA for it. And even besides that, there may be instances where you need more from your doctor than a note saying you were seen in their office on a certain date.
If you go to the Dr and they tell you to stay home from work for the next couple of days, there are specific things they need to write so you don’t get in “trouble” at work. My job prefers they say you are “incapacitated” for the days your Doctor is taking you off work, but so far I’ve squeaked by with having my Doctor just say “unable to work”. She didn’t like using the word “incapacitated”.
I’ve found that many doctors balk at writing what needs to be written, even though it’s legit. I don’t need a Doctor that is afraid to tell the truth and fill out the necessary paperwork when it matters.
Many (most?) orthopedists in the area will not see us on a Workman’s Comp claim. I ASSume it’s because they don’t want to deal with the federal government and all the paperwork and making sure they cross all their t’s and dot their i’s so they get paid in a timely fashion or period.
I don’t know yet how this new doctor is in regards to paperwork, one of the nurses did warn me though, that if I ever needed paperwork for a disability claim, she doesn’t do that kind of paperwork. And with all my issues, who knows whether I might need that one day.
But right now, my biggest complaint is that she doesn’t seem to listen very well. Or maybe she hears me and just picks and chooses what she will address. Idk. But I don’t feel like it’s working for me already.

Can you use intermittent FMLA? My friend with chronic conditions does this. She calls in sick more than the average person and she's covered without a specific doctor's note. She just has to renew it annually, or maybe twice a year.

I peopled too much today. Had to happen sooner or later but 20 people expressing sympathy was A LOT.
I only had one anxiety attack. That was good. I channeled it into continuing to move. I barely sat down even though I could have.
Not sure that was healthy but right now I can't sit with my thoughts. I need to shut down into default mode for a few hours during the day. Work is where I can achieve it best.

She just has to renew it annually, or maybe twice a year. Yes. I have before. I always had the important test results and diagnosis’ from specialists sent to my PCP and she took it all in consideration regarding my care, and took care of any needed paperwork for me. This Doctor, it seems like I have to keep her on track about what’s important. Like today, she ignored the fact that my recent tummy issues could be related to stress, even though I was honest about what’s been going on with me. So, let’s do this and that to try to get my stomach together and let’s totally ignore the fact that it could be caused by stress and not address stress at all. So far it seems like she prefers to deal only with physical issues and kind of ignore mental issues like insomnia, stress and possible depression. Also, she’s told me how she handles FMLA, kind of a blanket policy vs what individual patients might need according to what their specific condition or circumstances is/are. I’m done whining for tonight. I’m going to bed. Goodnight!

This may be a good day, the FBI just raided Mar A Lago not long ago.
Hope they get what they are looking for.
It is pouring here, in a little over 20 minutes we have received 1.22 inches of rain so far. Make that 1.24, now 1.29. My weather station says it's raining cats and dogs. We have flood warnings out. This is crazy, this time of year, it's normally really dry and the yard half dead. In just a few minutes went to 1.39, what a deluge.

I baked a lasagna and now baking a spanakopita. It was COLD here today! Not even 60 degrees, after 104 yesterday. It's madness, I tell you!
I'm baking now because they're saying we're in for another blistering heat wave. I certainly won't want to turn the oven on then. This way, I can just pop a piece of lasagna or spanakopita in the microwave. I can't afford to get take-out every single day, which is what I've been doing. Yesterday, i picked up a souvlaki. The day before, a shish taouk on pita. Day before that, a pizza. This cannot go on.
(Sushi LOVES lasagna. Garfield is not an outlier.)

We usually have the same weather. The forecast has been calling for rain all day, and it’s missed us.

We ended up with 1.74 inches of rain in not quite an hour. I bet some roads are flooded. Luckily, we live on the highest point around here, nothing will ever flood us.

I want something to eat, don't know what. Thinking maybe a tomato or cottage cheese or some mandarin oranges. Just hungry for something. Cottage cheese is a good one, it will hold you for quite some time.

Pink, have they done a blood work up? My doc checks our thyroid, D, and other items often. She said your thyroid controls everything in your body. Mine is too low, DD's is to high, we both take meds. If we don't it causes us all kinds of problems.
I agree about your doc, sounds like one I had for awhile. Found another as he was just too busy, had way too many patients and not enough time.
