Oh happy Monday - the city's turned the water off for the day to repair a leak. After surviving poopageddon (aka sewer replacement) 2 weeks ago I'm really not feeling the joy of another flush-free day. At least we got our showers done and the bird baths filled before they arrived. Do they not give a warning that they're turning the water off? You can fill the tub and use buckets to flush. Works quite well. Yeah, we didn't have water for a week one time when the well pump went out and managed. We showered at the neighbors and I brought in buckets of water from the horses water tank for the toilets.

Works quite well. We often lose power during storms. My 1 job to prepare is to fill the bathtub. I prefer flushing commodes.

Works quite well. No warning. I was out front watering a few plants when I saw a guy pull up at the corner and turn off the main. I'm thrilled because they just turned it back on which meant only 4 hours off. Some of the bigger leaks can be 24 hours or more

Will have to keep mobile order in mind as I resume work travel - good tip! DD14 traveled 3 out of 4 weeks in July. DH was chuckling that our water bill decreased from $45 to $30. He made up a mock bill to present to her when she gets back from latest trip which is to camp. Girl takes long showers and frequent baths. We mostly joke about it bc we're just glad to be past the phase of pushing her to shower every day and honestly it's mood changing for her sometimes to relax in the water. And $45 isn't a bad monthly bill anyway. Expensive water here. My bill is about $60 per month for one person. That does include trash, but still...... Once a neighbor's bill was shown along with mine in informed delivery. I was shocked at the amount they were paying for 2 adults and 3 kids. $150 per minth for water and sewer for 3 frugal adults. It was over $400 per month when the kids mice at home.

Find myself amused because even when I tell myself it's okay to half ass my job today I still manage to overachieve.

My last water bill was $185 and it's just me, but I have an automatic sprinkler system. It taps into the National Weather Service and doesn't run if we've had enough rain, but July was hot and dry, I brace myself for heavy utility bills in the summer because of course the A/C runs, too. Usually water is $22/month.
I'm in the AA Flagship Lounge at DFW. Dayum. I've used the Admiral's Club but apparently I get kicked up a notch as an International Business Class passenger. A dignified gentleman offered me Champagne as soon as I got in. How can I refuse? I'm now counteracting it with a late lunch and some club soda. There will be plenty of adult beverages to swill on the way over to London.

That's what I was going to say. Fill the bathtub with water and you can flush the toilets with a bucket or two of water. We used to have water off a lot when I first moved here.
After reading about everyone's insomnia last night. I ended up awake untill about 4:30AM, was reading a book after watching more Episodes of Angel, not sure how many years there are. They are having some appearances of cast from the Old Buffy the Vampire Slayer show.
So I was sound asleep, I think kitties tried to wake me a couple of times as DD said Smoke was in her room meowing at her and rubbing on her. He succeeded with me about 6:30, I got up and fed them. They were HUNGRY! Poor fat, dudes, LOL!
I'm here typing and we have a storm moving in so may lose electric. I will post this part and add to it. Today is brutal out, it's hot and very humid out. Of course, now the temp has dropped to 79 from in the 90's, think it's a brief pass through ad will likely go back to a high temp and even higher humidity.
This morning I panicked. I looked at MIL's VA account which has about $300 in it. It had a pending posting for $999,999.99, OH MY GOD! DD and I got ready and went to town so I could go to the bank. I asked one of the clerks what was going on. She said oh this is the way we do a customers account when they die, that way it points out something is going on with the account. Yes, I would assume so! I thought VA had screwed up something when they took back the $90 payment for August. What a relief that was. Hubs said what a thing to do, can you imagine someone ill seeing that? It's because on that account only her name is on it and all the rest have ours.
While in town we had lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. The place was packed and those weren't working people, just older ones like us. If people are poor, not showing here. But a lot of these folks are of the age they still have good pensions and SS plus probably money from some of their families. A lot of the young, uneducated that stay here, well are like others around the country that won't get anywhere. Can you imagine adding more and more kids to those families? Indiana just passed no abortions from 0 weeks of pregnancy. We already have 2 big corporations, Eli Lilly, and Cummins Engine that just stated they will do their growing in other states outside of Indiana. Eli Lilly was going to expand here but already had posted they were very concerned about our educational system. Pence caused us to lose a bunch of headquarters too and this is going to make it even worse. How long before they and others move their corporate offices out of Indiana? We are on the trend to being Mississippi of the midwest.
I did get my downstairs bed made and moved all the extra blankets down to that bedroom, so uncluttered our bedroom. I got all my trash out and a big limb moved to the burn pile with the little mower and wagon before the storm hit. Lost cable service but not internet.
Hubs is on his way home, talked to him about noon and he was in Wyoming. Poor son said he was moving a little pump and hurt his back again. He said it was almost better. I told him try some OTC Doan's or BackAid. He likely needs to go to the doctor and get some muscle relaxants. He won't take anything unless prescribed because of drug testing. they do it often. I offered to get him a recliner with heat and massage, said he didn't need it, yeah right.
And I never did finish dusting. So, I need to finish dusting Need to pull file boxes out and find my PO contract Need to finish sewing my shorts.
And I bought some discounted books at Walmart so may have troubles getting that done. I also love to read. One is a Clive Cussler, I haven't read.

No notice, and I'm actually glad for the people at that address because I'm sure their water pressure was way down. They were smart folks and rigged up a battery-powered pump and used the water on their yard. The leak had been gushing for about a month like so many across town. We have clay soil that expands and contracts like crazy depending on rainfall and the drought has just snapped pipes all over. The City simply doesn't have enough crews to keep up so they are hiring outside contractors

Admiring DH's triptych on the mantle. I had a picture he'd taken of Mt. Katahdin from Sandy Stream Pond enlarged and printed in 3 framed parts. It looks special. Serenity. I was in that area a long time ago...7 summers ago right at this time. We took a 2.5 week trip to Maine. I had to turn in my ym card for that vacation. I have a hat somewhere with Katahadin on it..though it was swag from a bank or some other business.

I think I have gout in my one big toe. LOL! I was reading that shrimp has a lot of purines and can make it worse. Probably hurting because of all the shrimp I have eaten from the shrimp peel. And of course, with the storm my other ankle is killing me. Oh joy, joy, joy, another day of pain.
Ok, enough stuff written about me today.
Later all.

Freaking out over Olivia Newton John a fair amount. Yeah. I just watched a "reunion" version of her and John Travolta singing "You're the One That I Want." It made me miss her voice even more.

Grease came out when I was like 9 or 10 so she would have been around 30 when she filmed that, but seemed much younger, I mean she didn't seem like my mom! But, I guess it's no different than the 30 year old Stranger Things actors playing high school age kids. Now I'll have to watch Grease tonight and reminisce about the good old days.

Freaking out over Olivia Newton John a fair amount. Someone asked my boss who she was today. He's my age! He should know who she is! I asked was he really that sheltered growing up? She said yes, he was homeschooled and almost never left the house. It explains a lot.

My kitchen sink and cabinets are just the right height to aggravate the knots in my upper shoulders. It's not as bad as if I had lifted weights yesterday. PB did not aggravate when playing today. I did find some exercises that I shared with another friend who has the same knots. The table I have my computer on is too high. I try to remember to put the computer on my lap.
Another website said the knots are caused by inflammation of the fascia between muscles. Rest is supposed to help.
On the water being shut off issue. The water was shut off in the north part of the city while they were doing water pipes in a new subdivision. The only announcement was on TV. A lot of residences were caught unaware. The fire department flushes fire hydrants. The schedule is printed in the newspaper. We don't get the newspaper. It's not the time to wash whites. Also dental offices and same day surgery are impacted. How about, I can't rinse the shampoo out of your hair at the hair dresser.

I hate exercising. So all I do is swim 3-4 times per week and go for a long walk with a friend on Tuesdays. That's it, no weights, no sweating, just swimming and walking*. Today was swim day and I really, really did not want to. Still I went so I think I deserve icecream for putting myself through swimming my laps.
* We did sweat last week while walking as the temperature went up rather fast but we made up for that by having lunch indoors (A/C)

Since I know you're watching calories, there may be pills with the important elements in powdered form. I'm about to leave the airline club- flight boards in 45 minutes and I'd just be tempted to swill some more wine. Better to walk around. I cannot believe how many cosmetic and perfume places there are. I guess some people actually shop in airports.
