You can get pretty small ones now that put out more air. They used to be huge. And they just have sliders at the sides so you can put them in from the inside. The portables are nice too, I bought one for son and DD but it wasn't big enough for their upstairs, so they had one of those deals put in the wall for cooling and heating. Can't remember what they are called but use them in Asia a lot. I have a massive window in my living room, which opens vertically. Even if I get a small one, the space around/above it needs to be covered with wood or cardboard or metal. Again, my plants will lose a lot of sun that way. I have a LOT of plants. I just ordered a mini personal cooling unit from Amazon. I thik this is the second time I've used Amazon. They forced me onto Amazon Prime, so I'll have to cancel. They'll probably make it difficult. I usually end up doing a trial of Amazon Prime Canada when I ship gifts to Toronto. The trial is usually for 30 days. Put it on your calendar so you remember to cancel. Or you can do it as soon as you know you will be keeping what you ordered.

@pinkcshmere My mind goes into overdrive sometimes at night. I've been putting on an audiobook to fall asleep to. My speaker cuts off after an hour. It works a lot better for me than falling asleep to TV. It seems like if I can distract myself when I'm falling asleep, I do sleep a lot better.
I also love the youtube channel Therapy in a Nutshell. She's got a lot of great tips and exercises. It's not a substitute for therapy by any means, but she's great!

Pink - I think reaching out for some personal 'me time' therapy sounds like a wonderful gift to yourself and, by extension, to Mister and your beloved grandchildren. Please be selfish and do this. You deserve to be happy 😊

i use a white noise machine, have for years and it does help. My bed also has a massage feature that is nice. But mainly I stay up till I'm dead tired, which wouldn't work well having to get up and going to work. I used to have a terrible time falling asleep with everything I had to do running around in my head and couldn't sleep too. Sleeping pills never worked, made me droggy the next day, so didn't take those. I think we all have too much on our minds anymore. I hope you can find an answer.
I wish I could go to sleep at 9 or 10 like hubs so I was up early the next day, but I'm a night owl.

I got all the floors mopped, YES! I am where I dread this stuff anymore.
I also dusted our bedroom and dining room, YES! Tomorrow will finish dusting. Everything looks and smells so fresh and clean. Hubs does notice when it's all uncluttered.
I have to dig around for those postal files. Need to look through the one I have now and see what all is in it.

Good morning, industrious invisipeeps. Welcome to Monday. I hope your day offers you comfort and cool drinks for your replenishment against the August heat.
Here in Massachusetts we are looking at continued drought. Hand watering only. Although my lawn is suffering, I'm glad that the road dust on my car can be seen as patriotic and not just as slovenly.
Today I'm continuing the advance against the boxes to be emptied. I'm pretty much done with the kitchen, so will be flanking the regiment in the workroom/office. I hope to find the documents I need to register the car and get Massachusetts driver's licenses for us. That will lead to another adventure getting a healthcare provider to sign the form so that DH can get disabled plates for the car. We currently have them from Maryland. Sigh. Everything is a project.
I did finally get the new television set up yesterday in the living room. We haven't actually seen tv since we left Virginia. It's the largest tv we've ever owned: 45", which is puny compared to most people, I think. But we're good with it. Now we can watch baseball and old foreign films.

Dogs woke me up at 5:00, I hate that. I like to sleep till at least 8:30. But they’re used to DS who wakes around 5:00 Goats are fine in the barn. Took the dogs for a walk around the property. It’s 12 acres so pretty long walk in the 90% humidity. DIL continues to progress and we’re all praying she will remain stable so heart valve replacement can be done end of month DS will be home tomorrow. He should have found a place to rent and his wife hopefully will join him in September I’ll be happy to go home tomorrow and sleep late!

I often wake up during the night and I start an audiobook (with ear buds) that I have listened to many times. That way I'm not kept awake anticipating what's going to happen and I'm usually asleep before it stops. I've found it a very effective method.

We have been fed and I have coffee. Very thankful for mobile order at the airport. I am happy I took the whole day off today. I'm going to enjoy the rest of my day once we get home.

I have absolutely no motivation today, but I'm going to do it anyway. I'm playing the scene in my head from Better Call Saul (which was ripped off from All That Jazz) of him looking in the mirror and saying "It's showtime folks". That is me today.

Will have to keep mobile order in mind as I resume work travel - good tip!
DD14 traveled 3 out of 4 weeks in July. DH was chuckling that our water bill decreased from $45 to $30. He made up a mock bill to present to her when she gets back from latest trip which is to camp. Girl takes long showers and frequent baths. We mostly joke about it bc we're just glad to be past the phase of pushing her to shower every day and honestly it's mood changing for her sometimes to relax in the water. And $45 isn't a bad monthly bill anyway.

Busy weekend. Went 4 wheeling Saturday with some friends, then dinner with the ILs. Sunday was a couple of hours kayaking, and then washing clothes, etc to get ready for Monday.
Not feeling Monday at all.

Trying to decide between a cousin bar outing and a weekend in Denver. My aunt is going to see my cousin who lives there and asked if I wanted to go. I booked flights for her and two uncles last night. Now she wants to know if I want to go. I've never been to Denver. We do cousin nights a few times a year since grandpa died to try an keep in touch. I'm leaning towards Denver.

I guess I'm staying here. 😕 Oh well. I said I was going to stay home after my trip this weekend. Too bad, the flight was only $78 round trip. What a steal!

there was another night not long after college. every time I put my drink down, it got refilled(with friends! this is important). I paid for like 2 drinks all night. I don't know how I managed to drive home from Worcester that night, other than to say a manual transmission that I kept out of top gear limited my speed, and I remember calling a friend on speakerphone and him talking to me the whole way home. I slept in Dads recliner again, and the next day was football Sunday. it took me til halftime of the late games to keep water down that day. I should definitely not have driven that night, and I've never done that since. but we're all invincible in our 20s. 🤦♀️ I think we've all driven when we probably shouldn't have and I know I'm not proud of it. However, that's the big thing for me is drinking and driving. I didn't even say anything about her coming home drunk. Lord knows I do it sometimes. The fact that she didn't drive that way is the only thing I care about. She's old enough to drink, so I don't care if she does. She hardly ever does which is probably why she was in the shape she was in, but she didn't get behind the wheel so it's all good.

I have been laughing. H. happened on old In Living Color skits. We laughed and laughed. Even the anticipation of laughing is fun.
One was. We are the 575 club. We used to be the 700 club but we are on sale today. Jim Carey and Kenan Wayans as pastors.
In that light, the ministers were selling absolution for $99. Today they were the B sins. Their donation calculator showed disappointing $11. All of the people that called in yesterday with the A sins, we know who paid for adultery; and we have your phone numbers to call back. The calculator started spinning and was up to $300,000 in just a few minutes. I'm sure those old episodes are on youtube.
There are some cast members from In living Color that still travel around and do comedy shows based on In living color. A co-worker had tickets to a show in LA when the pandemic started. The show was cancelled/rescheduled. Her SIL was originally supposed to go with her but backed out. DD told her she would go with if no-one else would. The co-worker got transferred to Atlanta, so she was very glad DD was willing to go (they work for an airline so fly for free). DD said it was a real experience. She said the people that were waiting in line to get in were incredible friendly. They are apparently like groupies and travel around a go to the shows regularly. Show ran from 1990-1994 and DD was born in 1997 so she had never seen the show. She said she had a great time though.

Oh happy Monday - the city's turned the water off for the day to repair a leak. After surviving poopageddon (aka sewer replacement) 2 weeks ago I'm really not feeling the joy of another flush-free day. At least we got our showers done and the bird baths filled before they arrived.

Once a neighbor's bill was shown along with mine in informed delivery. I was shocked at the amount they were paying for 2 adults and 3 kids.

Random Thought for the Day: It's a good thing I don't play drinking games in which I take drink when Lizzo says "b*tch" 5 minutes of listening to her, and I'd be on the floor.

Admiring DH's triptych on the mantle. I had a picture he'd taken of Mt. Katahdin from Sandy Stream Pond enlarged and printed in 3 framed parts. It looks special. Serenity.

Works quite well.
