The weight loss/diabetes medications are probably much cheaper than weight loss surgery. The difference is that weight surgery is usually covered by insurance, so patient pays deductible. Most insurance companies do not cover weight loss drugs. So compare the cost without insurance to make a fair comparison. From $10-12,000 up to $25-35,000 depending on the procedure chosen, or $1000+ per month. Doesn't take all that long to catch up.

I think a key factor in the surgery vs medication debate is the motivation of the patient. In order to have long-term success, a patient electing weight-loss surgery must be motivated to follow significant dietary restrictions for the rest of their life. Alternately, based on the reports of another poster, they are able to lose weight while continuing to enjoy their traditional food choices as the slowing of food passage through their digestive system reduces their desire to eat for hours at a time. My husband's cousin had weight-loss surgery and was successful in maintaining her weight loss for many years prior to her accidental death. I don't know anyone IRL who uses semaglutides. So another reason for it NOT to be covered by insurance?

OD graduated from college today. Despite the BS, I am proud of her for that. The graduation was live on YouTube and I watched it until she walked across the stage. Curious what was her major? Any idea what she plans to do with it? Also, I think you should feel good about yourself for being proud of her accomplishments despite all the BS. This is the type of situation that truly defines who and what a person is. Pink, I respect you! You are so kind, thank you! She wants to work in behavioral health, with children. I’m not sure exactly what that looks like for her, or if she plans to pursue advanced degrees. But her degree is in whatever sets her on that path. On a SN, she was supposed to have a celebrations party starting an hour ago, but the power is out at the place her Mom rented. Mister got Kiddo earlier today because OD wanted her little brother to come to the party. They were getting dressed when Mister got the call about the power being out. At first they said it was delayed, power should be back on 30 minutes after the party should’ve started. But even with that, they still would’ve needed time to set everything up. Mister just now told me that it’s been canceled. When he first told me that it was being delayed because the power was out, he said OD didn’t seem to be overly upset, which he and her Mom were very surprised about. Idk if she is more upset now that it’s been cancelled.

My husband's cousin had weight-loss surgery and was successful in maintaining her weight loss for many years prior to her accidental death. I don't know anyone IRL who uses semaglutides. So another reason for it NOT to be covered by insurance? Perhaps, but not necessarily so. Having seen firsthand the restrictions my husband‘s cousin faced after her weight loss surgery, such as eating no more than 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of food at any time, I became aware that this would not be possible for many. If you are in your working years and in a situation where you get a 30 to 60 minute lunch break once a day, following those restrictions would be close to impossible. I think that it might be a case of both and depending on the situation of each person. I also think about my own situation in regard to my cholesterol level. Even when I was 40 pounds lighter and ate nothing other than chicken breast and steamed vegetables, my cholesterol was through the roof to a truly incredible level, although fortunately I experienced no negative results of that count. Therefore this past year or two I did on the recommendation my doctor began taking statins. So it’s not always a case of our willingness to follow a diet and/or exercise regimen. My doctor told me that it was not a question of what I was putting into my body; that the cholesterol is being produced by my body, and would always continue to do so, and therefore, despite my incredible reluctance to take the statins, I understood that this was the only way to control my risk of cardiovascular incidents. I struggle every day of my life with the side effects of the statins, but, for me, there is no alternative, and I feel that the side effects fall and pleasant are better than what I would suffer as a result of a heart attack or stroke.

I had more adult beverages than I should have last night, and woke Mister up after he’d gone to bed, acting a complete fool. So no more adult beverages for me for a while. Not for him, but for me. I had already decided to try to stop being so angry. Again, not for him, but for me, since I’m sure my blood pressure and heart rate both skyrocket when I’m so mad.
We have agreed that our relationship is over. He makes it a point to say that I don’t have a deadline to move, and remind me that he hasn’t even said anything about me moving period, it’s me talking about that. I don’t even get into or ask him how it would make sense for me to NOT move.

Maybe just focus on the fact.that Mr isn't in a rush? P!enty of.folks share a dwelling when the relationship is bad. My.parents would go 6 months without talkimg.to each other. Several times in my 20s. No one.moved out.
If my marriage goes.south it's still better for us to not divorce. We have legal separation in my state.
I am sorry.that things didn't work out.

It will be good when I can put in a full day and it will be enough. The missy did a bang up job with getting ornaments on the tree. We got cut out cookies made, her birthday cake mostly made (she'll add some final touches tomorrow), part of her birthday lunch made, and I made.my breakfasts for the next few weeks. Other than a nap dh and I have been hustling for 12 hours. And it's just not enough. Dd1 wrapped presents and Dh was in charge of the scouting activities. He also drove dd1 to a babysitting job. Some of the roads are slick and she has 0 experience driving on it. Maybe I can get our downstairs bath tarted up yet tonight. That would be one less thing for tomorrow. I was going to volunteer on the 23rd since I'm taking the day off work and I will need a break from the kids. I was.pleasantly surprised that dd1 asked to come along. chen35 I batch make breakfast burritos. Its 10 whole wheat tortillas, a tube of seasoned ground turkey I think it is a lb, a small container of egg whites, a bunch of green onions and about a.cup of shredded cheese. You cook the onions and turkey in one pan and the.egg whites in another. Then mix them up and scoop on a tortilla. Sprinkle a little cheese on and then.wrap and freeze. I am in the office 3 days a week so it lasts 3 weeks. I just.stick one in my lunch.when I pack it the night before. I have coffee and Greek yogurt at about 6 and.then the burrito at about 9:30 and I'm pretty full until lunch. raeoflyte I don't know how you have the patience for 12 dozen cookies. The missy and I did.2+ dozen -and no decorating and I was like that is enough. I really am in awe of that. We haven't done cards in forever. Its ok too if people cut back. Stuff is getting expensive . I mean I spent our normal birthday budget on the missy and.she's getting a whopping four gifts. I used to be able to spend 100 and it looked like I spent a whole lot more. Now 100 looks pretty damn meager. It's not just me and the kids decorating that 12 dozen. My mom, dsis, used to be dgm, now my kids, and frequently dsis roommate or a cousin will come. It still takes an entire day just to decorate, but it's a group effort and I'm not even the driving force behind it. I'm working on making cookies now. The rolling out is my least favorite part. I should get a Christmas tree shaped tube to put dough in and then slice.

Well, the goat is still hanging in there but I lost a neighbor last night which was kind of expected but still a shock. She found out she had lung cancer in October and it went super fast. Today was rather non-productive. it was cold and sleety and just a lazy day. Carrot did have to usher at a concert this evening, so while in town I ran to Target and got the stocking stuffers bought. Not as much as I usually get, but holy hell, I just totaled up all I spent and I'm way, WAY over what I'd hoped to keep it at. Carrot's gifts are at like $700 alone but he needed a new Chromebook and hiking shoes which he's getting as gifts and that was $550 right there. Throw in his brother and the 13 other people I buy for and... Oh well. At least I'm almost done. Just need to figure out something for my dad and hit up the liquor store for a few things.

We're adopting bunnies. I'm still amazed we held out so long. It's a cute little gray one and a big gray and white lop. I need to set up there space for real and then we can go pick them up.

chiver78 I was told they are using the semaglutide salt in compounding and that the salt is more dangerous and has different active ingredients than the FDA approved drugs. Novo Nordisk has also put out a warning about these compounded versions. I think the FDA has concerns and is beginning to look into it. They are getting away with what I would describe as mass level compounding because these drugs are on the FDA's shortage list. I think I heard FDA is considering removing Wegovy from the shortage list. I have no doubts that these drugs are very helpful to certain people. I do worry about these compounded versions that are seemingly sold at every spa and on multiple websites/apps.

Not that my opinion matters at all, because everyone should do what they feel is best for themselves, but I personally think you should just get out ASAP. Nothing that has been making your life miserable there now is going to get better living as roommates. It will suck, but it's going to suck either way and the sooner you have your own space and your own life the sooner you can be happy again.

Good morning, intent invisipeeps, analyzing weight management options and gift giving equity. Welcome to Sunday. I hope your day offers you peace and plenty and that you enjoy a Sunday sundae. Yesterday's show went well, a good final for the year. A good time was had by all. Now I just need to stow the equipment and supplies in the basement for next spring. I'm tired and it's cold. If it didn't disappoint Franklin the Dog I'd skip going to the beach this morning. The sun rose yesterday to the accompaniment of tiny dinosaurs:

I'm going to have to read up on that before I try to make an intelligent comment here. I had no idea that a semaglutide salt was even a thing. but if the APIs aren't the same, it's definitely going to work differently.

Bills are paid. Except I need DH to check on one thing later today.
We are getting close to everything squaring away. We have a few more checks to deposit and then also I need to decide if we are going to shuffle any more funds around for the end of 2024.
We had a "bad" grocery week this week. We still spent less than when DS was here.
Someone little is up. Excited to decorate her cake. I'll try to let DH sleep in.

Taking a two hour each way road trip to see my 13 yr old niece play two bball games with her spec oly team. Got my cowbell ready to add to the cheering.
My niece is missing part of the p chain of her 18th chromosome and docs didn't think she would ever walk when she was born. Watching her play her first bball games last year was a highlight. She was in it to win it but also have fun with her friends. She stole some balls, made a handful of baskets, and high five everyone around. She knows where to go on both offense and defense and so, so much of the game which is amazing to see. This kid is a joy!
