I'm going to kick around the yard this morning before it gets too hot. Lots of odds and ends to attend to. I need to rake up all the pine needles before the grass gets cut. It makes the best mulch for my flowerbeds. This was my plan, but I slept in and it's already too hot. Blah.

It's really sticky warm outside here too. I dressed for being outside for going to Ex 1.0's right after work, but the office is freaking freezing. Luckily I keep sweatshirts here, so I put one on and the other over my lap. Still not comfortable.

I'm currently parked in traffic. apparently my exit is backed up. I could have taken a different exit and been fine with those surface roads. oops. wouldn't generally be an issue, but I have to pee. grr..
so yay, I have my car back! and it definitely stinks like a dog car that's been all closed up for a week. 🤢 I'll be leaving the windows open today and doing a deep clean later or tomorrow morning when it isn't hotter than the surface of the sun outside.
also, I met finnime! she's just as lovely in person as she is on these boards. 🙂

Well, the low spots on the road have standing water, but I made it back fine. Just got a little wet getting in & out of the car.

NYS issued more money on the kids food stamp cards, $375 each for a total of $750. It was some Covid relief program for kids whose schools had a certain percent of kids living in poverty.
I dont need the money, I don’t want the money, but I can’t give it away or it would be welfare fraud. Maybe I’ll go buy myself some crab legs with the cards.

Darn, I hate when these programs blanket everyone including those who cheerfully admit they don't need it but have no way to opt out. Better focus would provide more for those who are struggling. I'd buy nonperishables and donate them to the local food bank.

I just ran to the dollar store for pans to put all this rice in. It's disgusting outside! My phone says it's only 90* but the heat index is 100*. It's so humid! Why does mom's birthday have to be in August?!

I'd buy nonperishables and donate them to the local food bank. It' a paperwork and decision making nightmare. The last district in which we worked, the first time the school board and district admin got yelled at by families for releasing family information to the state department that in an "all in" method. Families didn't want their information released to the state. Then the next round, the school board and district level admin got yelled at by families for not submitting everyone automatically; families found out others were getting the debit cards and they weren't. So the solution for the third round was that the school district had to set aside employee time to contact every family and find out if the family wanted their name submitted for one of the cards. That cost the school district payroll funds that were not reimbursed by the food card program.

I like to think most people who fall in that camp can and do find ways to give it back to those it's meant for.

My mom is the oldest child and my grandparents would have been married 70 years this past February. My grandmother had made it well known that my mom was just premature. We all know better. When I was doing the album for the year dgf passed I kept asking my mom for my grandparents wedding date. It was so weird to have to ask for anything more than once. Once I realized what the hesitation was, I changed the album to read happily married over 70 years.

Gething ready to go park in the pine-needle infested outdoor bathtub. I really hate that pine tree. I've seen outdoor hot tubs made from actual bathtubs which I think sounds ideal. Get a big 2 person tub and add a heater for winter. But summer it can be the cooling/soaking tub. Easy to drain and clean. I was thinking about that on my too late and too hot walk this morning.

Her birthday was yesterday and I had her evicted 2 days after her due date. 😉

Good Lord. We are still going on vacation and Gwen listed to me this morning everything she was going to pack. I said she's acting like a Victorian with her steamer trunks getting ready to go on a trip to Europe with her spinster aunt before settling down into marriage. I read too much. She's free to figure out how to pack it all, I'm not doing it for her and I've already told her no we are not buying her a second suitcase.

I found out I was pg with favorite son after a few too many drinks and a missed birth control pill!! But so glad I missed that pill Yeah, I had DS because a diaphragm doesn't work if you leave it in the drawer. He was an accidentally-on-purpose. BF has had issues with his gmail the last few days and I just found out why. When one of my e0mails to him was returned Undeliverable it noted that his e-mail storage was full and provided a link to clean it up. I texted a screenshot to him. I can most certainly picture him never clearing out his e-mail. My "spamcatcher" gmail account shows that I'm using 2.36 gig out of a max of 15. I have one terabyte of storage available in my regular gmail account. No idea why. I finished watching a video on Tito, Yugoslavia's leader until his death in 1980. He had very fine taste in clothing and ordered around 18 custom suits every year (sometimes he wore 4 or 5 over the course of a day). One weird little detail I bet you never knew: his underwear was made of camel hair and he got it from Paris. Fine, light-weight wool can be very comfortable even in hot weather because it "breathes"- I have a few pairs of good wool slacks made of sheep's wool- but wow.

I found Footloose on tv when I got home from the grocery store earlier. I've loved the soundtrack as long as I can remember, but I haven't actually seen the whole thing before. I've got it on the TV that's still in my dining room, while I do some food prep this afternoon.
the dogs are out cold, it's still hotter than the sun outside, and I'm hiding inside. I'm totally okay with this.

We were going to jersey shore for a week, leaving after I got home from work Saturday. Well DH let the kids pack for themselves, no directions other than going to beach for a week. That night opened youngest suitcase - filled with toys and a big phone book. No clothes. Asked him what the phone book was for - making paper airplanes No problem, he went to sleep as dressed and next day bought him a bathing suit etc Actually I worked with a woman in marketing. When she traveled to meetings she often didn’t pack if her life was hectic. She bought toiletries and clothes there, usually some sort of resort.

It's 104 degrees out there. A friend invited me to the Lachine Rapids, maybe do some kayaking. This heat is deadly for people with heart conditions, so no. I'm sitting here with the fan on, watching an X-Men marathon.
I never liked Wolverine. I despise sideburns with every fibre of my being. That guy is all sideburns.
